OSET Electric Trials Bikes

Ordered a 12.5 Racing for 3 year old granddaughter for Christmas. I think she's gonna like it. Not sure why the pics are rotated . . .

Bit of background first my son is 8 and has been riding autos since he was about 3. A few months back we got a 2018 oset 20r which has a boost bikes Lipo battery. Trouble is we are finding it REALLY hard to get to grips with the bike, I've ridden it myself and can see where he's coming from. I know it's not a petrol bike so it will be different but I will try to explain the problem... Its all to do with the throttle control and how the power surges very quickly with no build up whatsoever. My friend has an electric 2017 OSET 24.0 RACE and is not very happy with the response of the bike. Did he make a bad purchase for a trial bike?

My son (13 years old) is Using the Oset 24 mostly for enduro. Bike's motor & controller are getting very warm, and go into limp mode. Can happen after 15 minutes of riding. Added a computer fan to cool the controller, but it's not very useful. Any suggestions? Motor is sizzling hot and so is the controller. Heat sink? Cold packs?

Does anyone know of an alternative rear tyre to the Kenda 2.7 x 16 for the Oset 16"? Ideally one which is a bit knobblier as they seem to struggle on muddy sections with the lighter riders on them. Also the mechetechno 12" seems to have more traction? I wonder if this is due to better frame design or/ shock is better quality??

Hi All, New here so first of all Hi! I'm into DH and Enduro MTB so know very little about trials so please be gentle. I've just picked up well used MY15 20R which needs a bit of TLC but at least most of the bits are cycle parts so easy to work on. On my list of things to do is bearings, replacing with some good quality SKF or Enduro. After much googling and an e-mail to Oset who haven't replied yet, I've drawn a blank as to sizes - found some info but it's conflicting. Our 4 year old has been riding his 12.5 since he was 3. This spring, for the first time, we noticed that he was looking a little big on the 12.5, at least when he stands up. Finally, a few weeks ago, my wife mentioned that she had turned the speed to full, and he was still looking like he wanted more. Hi All My son got a OSET 12.5 (think it’s a 2010 model). The front fork is pretty stiff, and I was thinking on taking It apart, to do a bit of refurb on it. I do know that it’s just springs and no oil, but I still think I could do something (maybe change springs). But it does not seems like you can take the fork apart= Does any of you guys have any good advice – have any of you taken the bloody thing apart? Regards Thoams

It didn't take long to realize that we needed handguards for the 16. Our four year old was riding just outside of the homerun fence at a baseball field, and all I could think about was his hand hitting one of the fence posts. I found the Moose "mini" aluminum guards for $35 shipped, that are made for 1 1/8" fatbars. As expected, they took a lot of persuading to get them to mount up: A fair bit of bending in a vise w/ a big adjustable wrench, I had to add some electrical tape to the bar-end inserts, cutting off about 3" from each guard and drilling a new hole for the bar-clamp mount, and adding a segment of old inner tube to the bar clamps so they will resist sliding fr…

Hey Guys, The rear wheel feels really cluncky and not very smooth, taken the brakes off and still the same, only just thought about it being rear wheel bearing, anyone had any issues before? cheers

Hello - I just purchased a new OSET 12.5 for my nearly 4 yo son (and apparently just under the wire - as the website no longer sells the 12.5). I was wondering what kind of grips to purchase, what size and how to install them. My son's hands are kind of small and reaching brake levers has always been difficult. My sons gasgas e12 only lasts about 20mins now, it's a year old and I'm guessing the batteries need re-newing. It's the 36v 16in model, I can get the same 3 batteries for £55 but would rather upgrade if possible, I've read the forum for the oset bikes does anyone know if the same can be done to the gasgas e12, obv I don't want to fry the motor. Also if I was to upgrade to lithium batteries, what's the best size, AH charger ect? Many thanks in advance

Hi, Can I put fatter than my current 20x2.5 tyres on the back wheel of my 20.0? If so, where would I get them? If not, I guess I need a new back wheel and tyre combo -again, which and where to buy? Any advice? Cheers CG

Hi all. Another question............. As I have both the 16 36v and the 12.5 (both 2010 models), can anyone suggest a battery that will increase the running time on the 12.5. Do I need to look for a larger amp hours battery? The 12.5 appears to lose power after about 1hr of on/off running, but still work (albeit slowly) the 16 on the other hand is still rocketing off. Also another quick question. Will the 600w motor from the 16 fit the 12.5 (with a change of batteries)? Sorry for these questions, but the smaller of the 2 children gets a bit frustrated at his brother roaring (albeit silently) off into the distance. Many thanks Andy

Got a oset 20r on standard Battery and charger. It won't charge. Red light on but no other or fan. So I've pulled connection s apart on charger socket and getting 60v dc. Seems a bit high. Presumed it would be around 48v dc. Is this right,

Hi All my lad has a 36v OSET which we have had for 8 months with no problems. We were competing this weekend and the throttle just cut out. Will reset if turned off and on again but cuts out instantly if throttle snatched or at about 1/3 throttle if wound up very slowly. Shows all 3 lights on throttle and had only run for about half hour after an all night charge so dont think it the batteries . Have had all connectors apart and appear to be ok . Could it be throttle itself or motor controller??? . Problem did occur shortly after bike had been dropped in a stream but motor or electrics were not submerged at all and ran for about ten minutes after before problem occured .…

The Stratford-Upon-Avon Club will be running a Saturday afternoon trial specifically for Conducted riders with class D and the NEW CLASS E licences. The trial will take place at Saintbury Quarry near Broadway on Saturday 19th June starting at 2pm. There will be two routes on offer with trophies presented on the day to the best rider on each route. The emphasis on the event is to provide a FUN afternoon with sections suitable for the smallest young trials riders away from the distractions of a normal club trial. i'm looking to get my son a bigger bike, 16inch wheels i do like the look of a mecatecno but i have never seen one at any of the trials we've been to, is there a reason for this? are they as good as the oset 16.0? pros? cons? thanks for any help wayne

Hi all. Thinking of fitting a smaller sprocket to the rear for trail riding. Hoping it will put less stress on the motor while at a semi high constant speed. Any suggestions on which size sprocket to go for?. Many thanks.
