Bought the electronic ignition for my 199B, last year 350 and noticed the it needs a spark plug that has the threads on top instead of the modern style plug for the boot to fit, I am using an NGK BPR4ES. Is there a plug that will work with this boot or do I need to convert the boot?

I've still got the original speedo drive on the rear spindle of my 76 sherpa 350t and wanting something that looks period so I'm not really interested in digital ones etc as good as they are. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced speedo and cable from somewhere that has the period look ? I know you can buy a full kit from Spain etc but they cost hundreds and I don't really want to go silly spending that kind of money on it ! Thanks.

Hi Help please I have a sherpa 350 1978 which has the speedo drive missing. It has in its place the speedo spacer from Bultaco uk. I have now got hold of a working speedo drive and wondered if any body can tell me how it fits. Does the drive go up against the swing arm then a spacer between the drive and wheel or does it have a spacer both sides. If any body has a photo that would be great and does anybody have the spacer sizes (with in mm) Thanks

I'm struggling to get the speedo sorted out on my Model 85 Alpina. It's getting too difficult to get a working one. Original mph ones are impossible to source. I'm thinking of ditching the rear-wheel speedo drive unit and putting in a spacer (In Motion type). I will need a speedo once I get it road registered - although it's not an MoT requirement it is a legal requirement. In theory, for a bike with a lighting system it needs to be illuminated - but I'm willing to take a risk on that one. There are loads of bicycle speedos about - anyone got a recommendation? Henry

I have a 350 1975 Sherpa T and want to fit a speedo, primarily to keep track of the number of miles covered. Is there a kit you can buy for the complete installation. Many thanks Borderlord.

Hi, all - I'm just trying to MOT my '73 Sherpa T for a bit of pootling around in Dorset and the MOT tester has identified a few loose spokes. I think they'll tighten up fine but I've no idea what size of spoke key to buy - does anyone have an idea, please? Thanks & regards - Mike

Any one got a source for spokes for a 199a? Undecided whether to get stainless or regular steel (any advice here appreciated)- being tighter than 2 coats of paint, I think I'll go for plain steel and keep them clean, depends how flush I am at the end of the month. Going to have a bash at re-building the wheels myself. Should take my mind off the kickstart spring if nothing else....

Hi All, After spending lots of time searching the web for info on the older Bultaco 2-strokes, I'm at a complete loss and need some help from anyone who knows about these bikes/motors. What I'm after is some basic cylinder porting information (e.g. inlet port duration, transfer duration, exhaust port duration) so that I can see how the 250 motors developed, specific to their applications (flat-track racing or trials). I managed to find Bell's tuning info regarding the Matador's 150 inlet, 126 transfer & 170 exhaust timing but that's all I've managed to find. Please note that I'm not looking to steal anyone's tuning methods/port timings, I just want to be able to …

I have the cases apart in my Sherpa 350t 191 and have been told to have the gearbox in the left hand case so I thought I'd put it back together without the crank to keep it all together. Long story short I end up with a mixture of cogs in a heap. I have assembled it the way it seems to "want" to go together but the images I have are very poor so I have no idea if it is right. I still have to swap the mains bearings over so I have photographed it and will dis-assemble before tackling the bearings. Anyone know of a good account of how it goes back together ? Cheers Neil

I'm looking help to diagnose a lack of spark from the stator on my 199A. I advanced the ignition, ran it for a few minutes then it wouldn't start again. There's a Red and green coming from the ignition coil with another shielded wire connected the points. From the points one black wire connects with the condenser and one with the HT coil. Previously, I could only get a spark by combining the red and black at the terminal (chocolate) block. That did seem a little odd as I would normally need just one wire from the points? Any pointers as to what to try next?

Hi Guys I have got a 159 325 which i have ridden for years and now i have moved up and i am doing hard routes at local trials i have found i cant make the tighter turns (could be my line). My Dad has a 199 325 with a black engine not the 199a, i find his bike has a much snappier engine and is bloody hard to balance at a dead stop which i can do very easily on my bike. when ridding my dads bike however it has a much tighter turning circle therefore i think a steeper head angle. Although it is easy to almost under steer the bike. (you turn and the front wheel goes straight on) I have a 199a frame which i am building up (possibly with a fantic engine as i have one lying a…

Hello all, can you help? I'm replacing my steering bearings on my 78 Sherpa, removed the old bearings from frame as I'm fitting the new tapered bearings type. Then realised I have to remove the old lower bearing race holder from the lower front fork brace (see attached pic) Any advice as to how to remove? Assume you need a press to push out the steering shaft from the brace to get the bottom race holder off? Ideally I want to retain the old original dust plate if possible. Thanks in advance and hope the above is a good enough description of the problem? Dunc
