Can anyone help? I have stripped down the bearings out of my steering head on my 79 Bultaco Sherpa t 350 i purchased new ones i took photographs stage by stage but have lost them. Can anyone tell me which way round the new bearings should go to and bottom do i need to split the casings and grease all the bearing or do they not require any grease internally. I have attached some photographs to for help please.I have labelled the photgraphs A B C D if that helps Thanks

can anyone tell me what size ball bearings would fit the original steering head bearings of an M92? Building up from bits and want to reduce costs and re use the standard bearings for now, but the balls are missing. Also what mods are needed to accomodate tapered needle roller bearings? Hello everyone. I've just bought myself an M80 which I am hoping to get sorted so that I can do a few trials this winter. I had a couple of Bultos when I was a keen young lad in the seventies, and have a soft spot for them! I have been looking at some of the posts to get advice on what to look for and how to sort things. Its been really useful. Clearly some of you guys know your Bultos. One thing I have not been able to find is how to remove the lower steering head bearing cup. I've tried heating it up and tapping it up the stem but the dust cover is starting to distort and there's no sign of it moving. Any advice? Also any other advice specific to rebuilding this mode…

Hi, Just purchased a twin bearing upgrade set for my Sherpa, (No modification needed) the top bearing looks straight forward, however, before I start, can anyone give me a tip on the lower bearing assembly? I take it that the old ball bearing racer has to come off to allow the new bearing to locate correctly, not entitly sure how to remove it without force. I als take it that the lower bearing has to slide from the top to the bottome, however, it to tight to move over around 10mm of the shaft, does this need a tap or should it slide free to the bottom? And another, in one of the forums, its said that there should be four wires coming off the flywheel, I on…

Hi All. Can anyone tell me if the steering stem thread size changed over the years. I have a stem with lowered alloy bottom yokes. I have a steel adjuster & top nut but they dont seem to fit although the threads all look fine. Could the thread pitch be mismatched? Any help appreciated, as always. Cheers. Hoodie.

need to know how many gears does a 1978 Sherpa T 175 have, and what is the best set up for sprockets?? also is electronic ignition as good as its made out to be? is the cost worth it? and best way to set the timing on the points stator set up. thanks in anticipation!! Steve F.

While turning the countershaft on my 199 by hand it stops turning once every revolution. If I turn it harder it will rotate. The transmission works as it should although the shifting is a bit notchy. What is the cause the sticky countershaft?

All has been going well apart from paint from the tank clogging the carb. I changed all the fluids and put an inline filter in but now it won't start. Plug was oily so I assumed flooding and kicked it over for a while put new plug in and it started second kick. It wouldn't rev and was stuttering a little regardless of choke position. Suddenly it stopped. Kicked it over again and it fired briefly and stopped again. Gave it a few more kicks to no avail and pulled the plug. Really oily again. Any ideas? Cheers. Neil

Having rebuilt the Sherpa engine and had it running beautifully I then go and pour 2 litres of Diesel in when refueling. I gave the tank a quick wash with straight unleaded, kicked over the engine lots, cleaned out the carb and replaced the filter and plug. Still running like ****e. The video is at half throttle and pic of the new plug. I plan on dumping the fuel in the tank as presumably the tank was still coated with Diesel, washing again with unleaded and re-cleaning the carb. Any other suggestion apart from stopping being so stupid? Should I try and wash the crankcase somehow? Hope this gives you all a good laugh :hyper: Netley.

Hey everyone, I inherited my Dad's 1975 350 Alpina, and just got it back from the local bike shop. They looked it over, cleaned the carb, replaced damaged fuel lines etc. and it ran great when the mechanic kicked it over. I got it home, and for the life of me can't get the danged thing to start... First question, is the choke on in the up or down position (I have the Amal carb with a choke and no tickler)? Second question - Any tricks to getting this thing cold-started? I know it runs well, but it has to start to run :-) Thanks!

I know there are a lot of posts here about bultaco clutch but I just can't seem to get it 100% it seems to engage as when I have it pulled there is no compression . When i go into first it wants to pull away abit , normal ? Once I'm in first it's hard to get back into neutral and when I have it in gear and clutch pulled in the bike doesn't roll freely really hard to push and there's a squeek coming from the magneto side of the engine . Any suggestions ? Have to adjust the screw right up to pushrod to even get it to engage at all ...

does any body know where i can buy a magnetic sump bolt from for my 198A M8? ive looked but they seem to be M10 up wards somewhere must do them cheers bondy.

Hi ,in trying to trace the history of an early 5 speed model 27 it may be best firstly to find out who was actually riding them in the European and national series . I'm not sure if Sam was riding directly for the factory at this stage or even if the concession had moved to comerfords from the Rickman brothers at new Milton .It was certainly around this period but I don't know for sure . So who else was riding the 1st 5 speed models in the autumn of 1967 apart from Sam ? As I have said in a previous thread I know Don smith bought his own and Benny Crawford rode one and the whearabouts of these 2 bikes are known , any help in this would be greatly appreciated , thanks

hello all can anybody tell me whats the best way to seal the holes were the greas nipels go the only reason im sealing them is because ive put the rolling bush kit in ive tryd clear silicon and it just keeps coming out when its dry is there somthing else what would work?

hello guys ive just got a 198A the frame and swing arm are at the body shop being sandblasted. im looking to puting new bushes in the swing arm i was looking at the rolling needel bearing kit billet parts do but cant get hold of whyn so im thinking of puting the standard bushes back in from inmotion. as anybody fited them? whats the best way to fit them ive do the needel bearing kit before would it be beter to have them pressed in?

hi guys just need abit of addvice ive just had my swing arm powder coated i took the old bushes out .and im replaceing with new ones of bultaco uk they have to kits to buy so i got the brass. and steel kit more money but seem more like the reel ones anyway i want to know is it worth me drilling the brass sleave to take the grease nipel? or would i be ok just puting loads of grease in before i put the swing arm back together? i did put the needel rolling bush kit on my other bult .and didnt bother with the grease nipels but the bike hasnt been used sinc restoring. allso i had the yoks powder coaded i told the guy i didnt want the shaft powder coated as i have to slide the …

hello all as anybody had the rolling needel bush kit off billet parts the batch theve just made? i put some in over a year ago and they was great. for some reason im having problems with the one ive just got ive put one side in spacer needel bearing outer brass bush all was going ok till i tryed to put the iner bush in it wont go in i havant damaged anything and the spacer. and bearing whent on the iner bush before i put them in the swing arm so now im left with a swing arm i cant use. so im going to have to use the ones of me other bike i do have a spare set but they need restoring any ideas?

hi all ive just got got a new bush kit from bultaco uk for my 199A as anybody else had one? ive put the outer bush in nice tight fit was easy enough to put in the inner bush made of alloy was allso tight these should turn freely the only other thing i can think of is they will get free when swing arm is on anybody agree? My Bultaco Sherpa 350T (159) swingarm isn't in the best of condition. I've repaired it for the time being by welding but im just wondering if any of the later models will fit easy enough if I can find one. Anyone know if they will ? Cheers in advance Paxo

I gave the swingarm off my Sherpa 159 350cc to a mate for some minor repair, and he has managed to lose it! I am struggling to find a replacement...any ideas?
