Its a bit quiet around here! On the advice of another forum member I've removed our flywheel covers to try and seal them a little better. Sure enough, both bikes had a little water in the bottom of them. There is no gasket but there is a lip on the lid for most of the cover except where the electrics come out. We're going to put some silicon on there to try and seal the cover up. While in there we've sprayed some innox to prevent rust. It does appear to be fairly poorly sealed. PS. Battery kit is going great on both bikes, no issues to report.

Hi all !! My 350 Gripper (that I got about a year ago but havent done much with) has a loud engine. The noise seems to be coming mainly from inside the clutch cover but its difficult to say exactly. I opend up this side and have found that the primary chain is quite sloppy. I´m not sure if I could change this my self or if it´s to difficult. Maybe a chain tensioner for In motion would be the right choice as it hasn´t got one ? The othe thing that I noticed is that inside the clutch cover casing there are some very light score marks where the weight on the end of the crank has been rubbing on the cover. Help!! The fan on my '11 Tr280 has stopped working. I've put 12v direct to the fan and it works fine, i've tried bridging the wires that go to the temp switch in the head, but still no joy. I'm less than useless when it comes to electrics, can anybody point me in the right direction to find where the problem is?

Anyone having/had a problem with there rear brake pedal ? mines been sticking on every now and then and i have pinned it down to the ball joint pin coming loose from the pedal which is allowing it to twist and catch on the frame which stops the brake from coming off fully jsp

Hi, back in the end of the 70s, I had an Ossa MAR? which had a yellow tank with a black stripe round it, similar to the MAR design, does anyone know who supplied them with a yellow tank? Thanks for looking. Dave

My 280i SSDT model has a problem with the electrical system somewhere. It cuts out in stages when it is hot.... First the top and mid end goes and then after limping around on low revs for about 2 minutes the engine cuts completely. It is impossible to start until it has cooled for maybe 5 minutes and then it starts as normal on the first or second kick. Subsequent to that it runs normally on either map until it has heated up.....the same sequence after a shorter time. I feel it is in the left hand engine case as it started after a shorter interval after I poured half a bottle of water over it. Hi there guys,just wondered if anybody has succeeded in getting a "duel map" installation installed on there "standard" bikes,I know the "Factory Edition" has this function and so did the last years "SSDT Model". I see Bob at Ossa Canada has mentioned he now has the "Duel Map Switch" available, I assume just running the latest Map-13 does still not let you access this function even once the "Duel Map Switch" is installed. Anybody know the correct Map Number or File Name of the "Duel Map" ? Also I have been trying to find a flywheel puller for the TR 280i,has anyone seen these for sale anywhere?

Before we start I am not posting this for any other reason than to understand how the fuel injection works, its not criticism and its not praise, I'm just interested. In the starting issues thread it was mentioned that the Ossa like a lot of two strokes needs to be revved from time to time to clear it out and this got me thinking. In a carb fuelled two stroke we have an inlet port and transfer ports. My limited understanding is that as the piston travels up this creates a vaccuum which sucks fuel mix into the cylinder below teh piston. When the piston returns this mix is forced out via the transfer ports and ends up on top of the piston. The problem with this is that so…

Can anyone tell me of the bore in the TR280i is Nikasil coated? In the parts book, there is 4 different piston kits: 6612020211--A 6612020211--B 6612020211--C 6612020211--D I presume these are over-size options which suggests to me the bore is not coated? I thought all modern bikes would be using the coating but the piston options have me doubting that.

Some of you may or may not know this already, but for those of you that don't...rememebr to keep your steering head bearings fully greased. A quick and eay way to do this without having to take the headstock apart is to simply remove the front number place and then remove the two bolts holding the EFI capacitor in place, replace the bottom bolt finger tight to block the hole, then place a grease nipple in the top hole, attach your grease gun and pump the head full of grease. You can check to see how full it is by removing the bottom bolt at first and waiting until the grease pumps out, then replace he bolt and pump some more in. Has anyone yet determined if the Jitsie Ossa tr280 air filter is an addition to the regular filter, or a replacement? I have one and the dual foam filter looks like it could be meant as a replacement. At the very least it should make cleaning of the main filter less frequent as if it acts as a pre-filter it should catch 99% of the crap before it gets to the main. Sunlingkau, I think you also have one, what do you think of it, and do you run it as a pre-filter?
