  1. So, I've been into classic green laning for a while on my Royal Enfield and as some of you know I've only recently bought a Montesa Cota 247 classic trials bike, I've taken it down some lanes but am yet to go to a trial with it. I will be going in a few weeks. So, I was wondering if for now my existing gear is OK? I have a budget open face road helmet that I use down the lanes, it's similar to this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VIPER-RS-04-PLAIN-OPEN-FACE-MOTORCYCLE-MOTORBIKE-SCOOTER-MOPED-CITY-CRASH-HELMET-/400320783636?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Helmets&var=670043912026&hash=item5d34fa6514 And I have some old black road motorcycle boots that I wear on dryer gentler l…

  2. Hi all, I fitted a brand new apico lanyard switch to my mates bike this week and it has failed (stuck closed circuit) within the first ride today. After removing the switch from the bars to check the connections underneath it started working again... Has anyone known an issue like this before? Is it possible that the part from eBay is a fake? Any pointers greatly appreciated!

I'm looking to buy a MOTS stone 4 jacket but need some advice on sizing. The size guide on the MOTS website is clearly wrong as the measurements make no sense at all. I am guessing I am between a M and L. Does anyone have one that could advise on fitting? Your height/build etc and size you wear. Thanks

  4. silly question, dont suppose it matters too much really..... but does anyone elses head look huge in a trials helmet ? hahaha ive just bought my first one and my head looks ginormous in it !!! hahahah whats worse is, i ordered large and i really think an xl may be in order.... ? or will the pagging inside shrink down soon enough... its not tight on my head or anything... it just looks wplain old weird !! hahahah large was 58-60 cm xl was 60-62 cm my noggin measures 60 cm..hahahah so not sure which way to go with this one...? by the way the helmet i got was the nau overkill..... and for the record.... my head is a completelty normal size..hahahha...just look like …

Morning guys Im one of those riders that walks through all water sections looking/feeling for unseen obstacles, while the smarter guys watch and keep their boots dry. How do you guys dry your boots out? I hang my boots up outside but it takes close on a week to dry out completely. Any blower devices you guys have built that I could look at (pics) or other tips? Thanks guys.

I've got a pair of Sidi Trial Zero's that have seen one re-sole and are coming due for their second. The uppers are still going strong but the soles wear through at the pegs far too quickly as far as I'm concerned so I'm not going to put on another pair of Sidi soles. Does anyone have any feedback about durability of Forma or Gaerne soles? My other option is to see about getting them soled with Vibram Boulder or Claw rubber - that's pretty tempting as you pretty much know what you're getting with Vibram soles!

Ok well I have been putting off initiating this thread for some time, but yet I do wonder if anyone has tried them and their results. After a mention some months ago about their supposid availability for the Mont, I was qurious enough to look them up on the website and read up upon all their jargon. Trust me, I have seen many such claims over the years of improved WHATEVER from sparkies! Mostly BS! In my experience, there are some things that work, and others that simply do not, and it varies by application so much that in a business sense I never vary from the factory recommendation, not an inch! As there can be many unexpected pitfalls between brands and ratings on pl…

Hi Guys, Anyone got any good suggestions for protection gear? Looking to get some elbow pads and maybe a back protector, rather than the whole vest which is uncomfortable to wear while trialing, is hard shell elbow pads better protecton then soft shell, has anyone used these? cheers Colin

Hello, I've swapped sides and binned the enduro bike for a gasser... Hurrah!! I hear you shout. The problem is I've now got a trials bike and a stack of enduro riding gear. I can make do with the boots for the mo' (though I have been advised that trials boots are like slippers in comparison) my query is helmets. I have been told (by our enduro sec) that Trials can be ridden with a "safety helmet" which isn't necessarly an ACU stamped lid. I have a MX lid, which is pants for looking down, I also have a Bell safety helmet which is basically an open faced lid with minimal padding... it'd normally be used for downhill mountian biking type stuff, I got it for roller blading…

Does anyone have any tips for removing the burnt on mud, and other debris from the engine, and getting it looking nice and silvery again. Cylinder has what looks like oily mud spots.....Baked on. Is there a product to put on it.....like cillit bang, or do I just paint it with high-temp silver. Don't want the mess of painting though. It's not a problem, but it does annoy me, looks tatty !

Hi there , i have used the search function but can't find any info on them. Basically what i am looking for is if anyone has them, has used them ,has seen them, are they tight fitting or not ,as they are not stocked anywhere near me but i like the look of them. I don't want anything tight fitting nor do i want anything baggy so if anyone has any info that would be great.

I bought one of these ES328 EZ-Tach +PLUS from JBTools US on ebay around $60 AUD delivered - I got it mainly to more accurately set the timing on my Cota 247 . But I started with my TLR200 set the unit to 4stroke single and it told me I was idling at 2400 rpm - so I assumed it has a waste spark on the top of the exhaust stroke and set it to 2 stroke and sure enough fluttered a bit over 1200 rpm. Using same settings on the Montesa and it indicated 2400 then 400 then 1200 then 2400 all over the shop and it doesn't matter where I place the unit use it or whether I am using the clip on sensor. Was I being foolish expecting something this cheap to work - or is there a…

Gabriele Marcelli's crash in Toulouse looked horrendous (belly flop from 10-12 feet up onto concrete, if you didn't see it). It was a relief to see him joining the podium, even if he looked very tender and had a big dressing on his face. Is it time to consider helmets wit face protection in trials? I can't really see any downside.
