Putting the bike back together after having fork leg welded. All installed and forks are free to be pushed up and return well. When I put the wheel in, not simple as the wheel, brake plate and spacer are a tight fit, the forks are really hard to compress and when compressed do not return without pulling back on bars. What can I have done wrong?

How do I adjust the rear suspension on my 99 montesa? I'd like to soften it up a bit, but id like to know how to go both ways. If i tighten up on the coil, that stiffens the compression, right?

Hi - my cota 349 is being re built but I have a problem with the gear box self selecting in neutral whilst running and also missing gears. The question is, where should the wheel sit on the star shaped nut to get neutral as per the image? Any help much appreciated, as I am very keen to get this bike running again. Thanks

  9. Started by fastducs,

I have recently acquired a 2000 cota 315r, along with a manual, but it turns out the manual is for a '99. I know that the '99 forks are very different from '00 forks, but I don't know about the shock. Anyway, since I can't rely on my manual, here are my questions: 1) The rebound damping adjuster (purple thingy) turns round and round, and never reaches a stop in either direction. That contradicts the way clickers work on all other bikes that I've owned. Is my clicker broken? 2) On the opposite side of the clicker is a screw-in plug. I unscrewed it, but all I see is a solid dead end. What is the function of this plug? 3) How do you remove the shock spring? Do y…

I have got a flat carbon kevlar tank, like what Doug had on his. The tank won't sit down flat as it touches the spark plug, I presume they had a shorter plug. Does anyone know the plug type and where I can get hold of one.

Are there any secrets to removing the chain tensioner pivot bolt on a 2018 300 4rt? So far I have tried penetrating oil, heat and a few heat cycles. Does a steel bolt thread right into an aluminium pivot?

  14. Has anyone successfully replaced the drive chain tensioner bushings? Mine is a 2018 and appears to have a solid bush but the replacements (with the correct part number) arrived as a compressed split bush. They also look a little too large. When I look at them, the chance of getting them installed, round and fixed in the swingarm to work with the tensioner seems small. Has anyone done it? Does it work? It does not look good.

Can anyone tell me how to get some early Cota 123 -27M front forks apart. This set have small round steel bottoms. I have released the bottom bolt removed the top cap, springs & damper rods. I have unclipped the fork seal circlip & inserted a dummy rod in the bottom axle eye. Then carefully laid the fok bottoms in the vice using the axle to stop fork leg being pulled out of the vice. Using the tried & tested hammer action on the stanchions including the use of heat around the fork seal area - nothing moves. Finally one fork seal popped with the heat but still can not split forks apart. Any ideas?

A friend's 2007 4RT Repsol Replica seems to have a far more instant throttle response compared to his previous 2005 standard 4RT. The result is far greater difficulty in finding or regaining grip. Does a 2007 4RT Repsol Replica have different ECU settings compared to the standard 2007 & 2005 bikes? With the CD and interface cable available which map(s) should the average club rider really load? At the moment we do not know which map is currently loaded, a previous owner may have had the ECU set to a non-standard map already. There is every chance this request may be going over old ground but there may also now be greater real world experience to hand.

Just wanted to know what the majority of people on here are running, I just got my bike and its on 9/43. While im sure this would be good for trials at the moment I am just having a bit of fun at the quarry/woods etc.... Anyway it feels as if 4th is too low for some big climbs although still usaboe, and 5th is to long and runs out of puff. I bought a 10 tooth front but my chains to small for that so Ive got to put a link in or also drop a tooth on the rear do you think this would be a bit much 1 on the front and 1 down on the rear?

Hi guys, Have just started trials after a long gap, on a fairly tidy 248. Can anyone give me any recommendation for final drive sprockets. I'm thinking mine may be a little tall in first. Cheers

Hi. I am having problems with the clutch on my 1972 ( 21M ) 247 and I was wondering if any special tools are needed to remove the clutch plates so I can give them a clean and hopefully solve the problem. At the moment it tries to move forward once I put it in gear with the clutch still in. Thanks.
