  7. My 247C has quite a few false neutrals. Yesterday at tthe trial the old boys running newer stuff, were fondly remembering that even when new, these Montys's came with some free neutrals kindly donated by Montesa. Is there a fix, or a case of "they all do that sir" Bless the old girl, she really shone on the loose, sandy hill climbs, such a soft 'n friendly engine but grunty when needed, love this bike. yeah I know, no 6th!

Im thinking of getting myself a old twin shock trials bike for bit of a rebuild project. There seems to be more montesa,s about than most other makes and the prices are reasonable to. So the questions? What should i look out for and what are the best models?

Anyone use a TwinAir replacement air filter on their RT? Did you retain the steel screen? Any comments?

Im trying to build up set of forks from various bits I've got laying about but the diameter of the 35mm forks seem to differ from 34.87mm to 34.98 and not all parts will interchange. Does anyone know are the diameters different between models or years or are they graded in the factory to give the best match. Any ideas?

Hi all. Looking for advice on whether the following would be a wise move for a project bike. Background is I want something to work on with my dad; mum passed away last year and working on a project bike is a good way to spend a few nights; keep him occupied and ultimately end up with a runner that we'd probably look to move on so we can do up something else. So...... I've been offered a Montesa Cota 200 for £300. Been sat for a couple of years. When it was running I actually had a crack on it, gears were all good and sounded nice. It's all there and fires up 'but' when it gets warm it is a right pain to restart if you stall it. The reason it's been sat in the gara…

What is the best way to straighten the front end after a trip over the bars. Nothing broke, just front wheel in not aligned straight with the bars and forks. May need to straighten the fork brace as well as it seems a bit off now. I was going to loosen the triple clamps up, pump the forks up and down a bit and visually align the front wheel, tighten the clamps then align the brace and fender. Thoughts? Thanks Tom

Hi Everyone, Excuse my lack off bike mechanic knowledge. I bought my 315r approx two weeks ago. It does need quite a bit of work doing, but thats why i wanted it. My clutch is not working, the clutch lever will only move a small amount. There appears to be plenty of fluid in the resevoir, but nothing happens? Also the rear brake caliper piston is siezed in. I can depress the brake pedal the whole way, but nothing happens. The oil level seems correct? Any help much appreciated!

What’s everyone using? I have an x11 on the rear which I thought used to be the holy grail, I was at Shatterford on Sunday and a bloke there was saying they are rubbish, no grip! Dunlop’s are the dogs, best grip ever. Was he talking *****? No self respecting rider would touch Dunlop a few years ago!

  17. Hi, Is there anywhere in the UK that specializes in trials suspension service and possible revalve/springs? Im 10 and a quarter stone, riding sportman/clubman trials and would like to know if my bike needs lighter springs/ revalve. I have my both my enduro bike and DH mtb set up great. Id like to pay to have my Mont 4RT as good as I can get it. I need new fork seals and rear linkage bearings so it would be the time to get a proper service. I'll look forward to hearing any advice. Thanks Billy

Not so long ago i went to visit the 1980 World Trials Champion Ulf Karlson at his home in Sweden . He lives in this picture perfect little town on the edge of a huge lake. It is gorgeous and when i went it was nice , warm and sunny , which made it even better. He's a great guy and once you get to know him , he even smiles .... sometimes . For me it was great to meet the Champion who had just disappeared. I got to see his bikes , home and photos. I interviewed him for my hobby web and he was very honest and frank. It hasn't all been plain sailing for Ulf. He's had some highs and lows. If you want, you can read to see how Ulf is doing . Its here . http…

I bought some wheels a while back, advertised as 4rt wheels, but now I've come to fit them they don't fit, the brake placement is wrong! I'm going to sell them on but would like to find out their origin. The rims are made by Akront Front: 21" - 1.6-36-TR-I193-E-Dot Rear 18"-2.15-NERVI-TR-794-E-Dot They may be off an older Montesa but in principle could be off another bike. The front brake disk is a floating design similar to the 4RT though! Any help would be much appreciated cheers

This may seem a stupid question but I have a 1976 Cota 247 UKR which I have owned from new. It hasn't been used or over 20 years and I want to tidy it up and see if it will start assuming the seals are OK. I know I need to clean out the carb etc but is it ok to run on unleaded fuel from the local garage, what oil should I be using and what ratio petrol/oil mix please. I know that with classic cars there is also a problem with modern fuels destroying the seals in the carburettor. Is this likely to be a problem and if so is there a new seal kit that I can buy which is suitable for unleaded fuels. Thanks
