Just bought a 2004 315r and want to tidy it up and give it a once over. Have fitted some new clutch plates to hopefully sort out a bit of clutch drag and all the usual stuff, oil change, filter, plug etc but I want to repack the silencer and decoke the mid box as it looks a bit gungy!! Whats the best/easiest way of doing it ? Any help greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know where I might get a "Lampkin Replica" graphics set from? Cheers.

Sorry, some more newbie questions; Forks Will forks from a later 247 (1978/9) fit as a straight swap on my 1973 bike? One of my fork tubes is bent, and I am unsure whether to go for a later pair currently being listed on eBay, or to try to get mine straightened. There are mixed opinions as to whether or not it is worth trying to straighten a bent fork anyway (assuming that there are no creases). Rear shocks What is the correct size/length? I am fairly heavy (85-90kg depending on lunch) so what would be a suitable specification if I were to go for new shocks or springs? I am trying to work out whether it is worth rebuilding the old Telescos (which are totally worn ou…

  3. So I've got the slider out of the right hand fork, but for the life of me I can't get it out of the left hand side. The seal retaining clip is defo out and I've tried heating the stantion collar with the hot air gun but it's not coming out. Do I need to takeout whatever mechanicals are down in the bottom of the left hand fork or should I just man up and pull harder? Second question is: on the instructions I've got for replacing the seals it goes on about removing the bottom bush from the slider before sliding the old seal, washer, etc off and fitting the new ones - why cant I just remove/replace everything from the top of the slider so i don't have to take the lower b…

Standard plug is NGK cr6...something, is there an Iridium plug that crosses over? I've had really good luck with Iridium plugs in other 4t dirt bikes.

I did my first Scott yesterday. I was most disappointed that I ran out of fuel before the first fuel stop. Is it normal for the 4RT to be thirsty? I have a S3 280 kit and programmable throttle body with the laia Sanz 280cc map. Want to go back next year to prove to myself that I can get much further, but want to understand why I might have run out of fuel first and this is the only thought I have at the moment.

Does anyone know if the 2003's footrests were a little lower and more rearward than previous models, or was that just a one-off mod. on Dougies bike?. I'm sure I remember somebody selling aftermarket footrest hangers modded to give that position, any ideas?.

Montesa-Honda halt production of 4RT and command dealers to stop selling units. Dealers in Spain received on thursday the order to stop selling 4RT. The communication relates also that the production of units has been halted. It does not explain the reason but insist to remember to all clients on the obligated starting with throttle completly closed and waiting two minutes at idle before going. In few days they will communicate the countermeasures. As a 4RT owner I feel quite worry about this. I know that the delay of october was due to a change in the kickstarter (it touched on chassis and was re-molded), but this new seems to be more important. I do not imagine w…

Hello Just after some advice, I have just ridden my 315 for the first time since the SSDT. All I have done since Scotland is change the oil, air filter and repack the silencer. It may be just down to the gearing (still on Scotland gearing) but it seems to have lost a bit of mid range/bottom end power. Any suggestions on how I can freshen the bike up again? Thanks

I am now only awaiting confirmation from the DVLA telling me what my registration number will be and it will be road ready /legal. I am thinking of trying to get the fuel tank looking a little tidier. Does anyone have any experience of painting these tanks? It's plastic though it has been repaired underneath with fibreglass.

Hi cant seem to find the correct size fork seal for a 2002 315r with the newer forks, the bluey petroly looking ones. I was told they were 38x50x8/9.5 whatever that means, but the ones I was given are a different size than the ones that are currently on the bike.

Hi, I've got a new '09 4rt (Repsol). I had my first good 20 minute ride today. I noticed the fan never came on (I was mostly in first gear going through trees slowly, 20C outside). Is this normal? I kept watching it expecting it to come on. Also, I notice when it sits after riding that one of the (vent?) tubes drips a few drops of oil - is this normal? Thanks

I am currently rebuilding my cota 348 which i purchased as a non runner some time ago.. I need some help with a couple of points... Tightening torques for the barrel stud nuts (3360.161)? On the gear selection side behind the main selector (5166.012) there is a disc (5166.01301) with a tab which engages a stud (0266.108) with a guide spacer (2166.107) - this allows some minor angular movement (+/- 5 degrees) of the disc based on an offset hole drilling in the spacer. My question is: what is this for and how should it be set - when I took the clutch case off, the nut (0092.06) was loose....! Many thanks, Andy

Just bought a used fibreglass seat / tank unit for my Mont 123. I've only seen photos of it and am waiting for it to arrive but I know it needs a bit of work. Was just wondering what is the best way of preparing it for painting ? What grades sandpaper should I be using to take the old paint off etc and what sort of fibreglass fillers should I be using if it needs filling / repairing ? Any advice is appreciated as i've never worked with fibreglass.

I see Gatti is riding a works 4rt in Honda/mitani colours, with the new twin spark engine, apparently it's 313cc, and from what I can see, his bike is a works Montesa, not one of his bikes he usually uses in Japan. I thought we might see something at Montegi, maybe the new bike will be shown too.
