  1. Started by johnnyboxer,

Not been riding my 4RT for 3-4 months and went out to re-try a few sections that I did, at a recent Trial, that I cleaned on my other 2T bike Tried on the 4RT and would it grip, no it bloody wouldn't - even with a brand new tyre............. on muddy hillsides and woodland type sections Grr, I find the front end has a mind of its own sometimes too Rocks, fine Streams fine Mud/Banks..........nope

  4. Hi all, I have tasked myself with getting my dad's old Montesa Cota 247 running and riding again. The bike was bought years ago and spent most of it's time in his shed collecting dust. I dragged it out a few years ago and kicked it over, kicks over fine but would not start. I put it back with a promise to try get it going again. So that day came today, got it back out. Both tyres are flat and it needs some work. We are going to try get her running and riding again and then strip it down and make it look like new This is the bike in current form So checked the oil, looks OK, kicked it over a few times and everything seems to be free. I removed the HT lead an…

I have now had two long practice sessions at our trials park since fitting the CLAKE to my 06 Repsol. This Ozzie developed combined clutch and rear brake unit is a real eye opener. I found by the second session I was cleaning sections that I had not been able to when the bike was set up conventionally. Found it totally natural and have not once gone for the missing brake pedal!! The biggest surprise has been the ability to lock the rear wheel even on the flat and concrete surface with only reasonable pressure from the one finger and the clutch remains as light as normal. My main reason for trying the unit was that I can rarely hit the back brake when the bike is start…

Hello. I bought a brand new 4 Ride in April last. Ran it in for 260 miles before servicing it prior to a weekend trail riding in N Wales. The oil filter was bone dry with a dribble of oil sitting inside the filter housing. Aaaargh! Fortunately I still had my old CRF for the weekend and the 4 Ride went into the dealer a couple of days later. They said that there was no issue that they could find as they replaced the filter, ran the bike and opened it up again to find oil as they would expect to see. Vaguely reassured, I took it to France for three days trail riding and then to Devon in December, nearly 400 miles. Took it apart for an oil service and found…

I have it on fairly good authority that the new model 2007 4rt has been out in Spain since october. So why none here or has someone got one already? Why are they so late? Linked to the Appleyard deals?

Electrex World (www.electrexworld.co.uk) offers an electronic ignition conversion for the 348 / 349 Cotas (kit #STK-349). I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has made the conversion and can comment on the installation and subsequent performance.

I'm contemplating buying a 4RT or Repsol, having only ever ridden a 2 stroke. I keep reading comments about how they ride differently, how people shouldn't ride them like a 2T. I understand that they are heavier, but other than that what is the difference between say a TRS and a Repsol when riding a section. My level of skill is pretty low, I'd normally ride one up from the easiest route at a club trial. I also much prefer messing around at a practice ground to competing. So no need for they don't hop better on the back wheel thanks! I'm also not able to get a test ride on one sadly. Really interested in understanding how they differ.

  13. I have a Monty 315 fitted with a Keihin PWK 28 carb. This Bike is new to me. Ok guys this is what happens, Bike starts and runs fine, length of time running does seem to make a difference but eveytime i go out it fouls the plug, at first tick over starts to get uneven and its gets a bit smokey and you have to wind tick over thumb screw in. Then you can be pulling up a climb in 3rd, get to the top and then it loses power, and eventually dies, and wont kick over. Take plug out its black and sooty, put in new plug and away it goes first kick fine. At first i thought the plug was faulty BR6 IX (irriduim), fitted new one and off i went again. Next time out almost exactly t…

I've seen (and it's been mentioned on this forum) about the 2017 300RR, but I've not seen anything in English. Also, I've not seen anything about pre-ordering a RR, the same as I did with the standard 4RT and Race Replica (Repsol). Is this an indication that Honda UK might not be bringing in the 300RR 2017 this year?

All the documents say that honda recommends elf htx 740 for the clutch for the 4rt. If you look on this site it says that the htx 740 oil is for a dry clutch, but the 4rt has a wet clutch. Anyone know why they recommend this oil. elf oil htx 740

  17. I can get this 2001 Montesa Cota 315R for $1150 or 750 GBP. What do you think of the bike from looking at the pictures? Everything on the bike is in working order and the bike does not need any work so it is just to hop on and ride the bike Well, i suuppose i will need to change the oil since the bike have not been used for some years according to the seller I could off course paint the bike if i buy it Do you think i sould buy this Montesa Cota 315R? If i buy it i would like to get the bike looking like a Repsol bike I suppose the 315 R is the same bie in 2004? Note that i already have a Gas Gas TX 320 that i just put on a 3,5 liter fuel tank…

Now then, I want to ask the worldy wise about this Montesa clutch drag problem. It's doing my head in to be frank. No matter how warmed up the bike is, the drag is bad and keeps stopping the engine when i'm moving slow or stopped. Staring it is not funny any more. Does anyone have any sensible advice other than a new clutch kit? I also would like to ask, Is Castrol Driveline Sytnrax Universal 75W-90 any use for the clutch oil? I am not using it, just interested (bike still has the oil in that I bought it with in), but i have a lot of it spare, two gallons to be precise! So it would be nice to use it up... Look forward to any tips guys... many thanks Michael

  19. Hey all! Very excited about a new Montesa Repsol I just ordered. Just for fun, I was wondering if anyone knew how diferent the Repsol Replica was from the actuall factory bike. I know the Gas Gas Raga replica is fairly true to the factory bike is this the same for Montesa? Also for those that have been running a Repsol what do you thing of it? This would be my first 4stroke trials bike, I'm curius to know more about it. I have to wait about 4 weeks for mine to show up. :/ Cheers!

  20. Hello everyone. In the welcome area I was helped greatly with my decision to buy this bike - thank you. I am super happy with it and am thrilled to begin this trials journey. I took the bike out for a proper run for the first time today down the local byways and across a private estate, it rides brilliantly and I am amazed with how capable it is! I'm used to my Royal Enfield which is such a pig! Here are pictures from todays run: I am however having a few problems. I've never owned a two stroke before and I undersand the fine line between the intake and exhaust function, so is flooding a two stroke easier than a four stroke? So the problem: From cold I turn on th…
