Hello all, I have found my dads Montesa Cota 349 1980 in his garage. The bike itself appears in (relatively) good condition. I don’t think it has been ridden (or started) for 20+ years. I would like to get this bike running again & start riding it at local events. I have pretty much zero technical knowledge, I am willing to learn & give it a go and watch YouTube videos to learn etc.. The reason I haven’t tried to start the bike is I am worried about the petrol and oil in the tank? What would I need to change or replace on a bike that old/hasn’t been ridden for 20+ years - things that would need to be changed regardless is what I am on a…

I just stripped my carb down off my 2001 315. I got this bike used not to long ago. When I got it, it was missing the small airfilter that leads to the port across from the airscrew? I rigged a filter for that, but now that I have it all stripped down it seems that port does not go anywhere? Just bottoms out. I soaked the carby and blew threw everything? Now Im wondering if I have something screwy??? Not the original carb?? Also, there was no emulsion tube under the pilot jet??? There should be right??? All diagrams I have found show one! Bike starts, idles etc ok even with all this weirdness? Though the airscrew had very little affect thus me tearing it down. So I …

This is something that I have been trying to find for some time. None of this is definitive, and I would be delighted if anyone can confirm, correct, or add to this thread, so that we can hopefully arrive at a complete list of correct colours and corresponding paint codes for each model. It may well be that over time, so many bikes have been re-painted in various shades that it is difficult now, to find examples with original paint, and to know what is technically correct. In general, there appear to be at least three different reds that were used during Cota 247 production. (I know the last bike here is a 348, but the same colour is used on late 247s) Early The M…

That got your attention :0) what colours do you think we'll get next year? I think it'll be white rear mudguard, white tank and white front mudguard (Honda colours) or white rear, red front and red tank (Montesa) black wheels, silver frame again. Repsol will be factory rep with the wings on silencer and airbox, What do you think? Could also be a Fuji special to celebrate 20 years in the WTC !!!

I am about to get into trials and I decided to get a Montesa 4RT. I found a used 2005 and a used 2007, both in great condition. Being that the 2005 has seen less use than the 2007 am I missing out anything if I went for the 2005 model? Regards, Redster
