For chat on the European Trials scene outside the UK

  1. Started by wobbler,

Gents - a few of us are going to venture into Europe in 2015 and would like to do either one or both of the Ventoux / Roregordo in 2015 ....We will have people travelling from Carlisle & Manchester / Wrexham so its a proper "Road Trip" and with between 6-10 possible riders. I understand the dates are around the beginning of October - can anyone confirm the dates ?? Some help on the following would be ideal. Best way to travel ie : Overnight Ferry to Santander / Bilbao ?? with 3 people & the bikes in a van and the others flying and meeting there. What is the nearest village or town to the start of each event. Any special requirements for the twinshock / C…

Calling anyone living and riding in France! Hopefully moving to France permanently next year, can anyone please tell me what the process and cost of getting a french trials licence is? Whilst I'm asking, my bike is UK registered, but SWMBO's 125 isn't (she also doesn't have a full UK bike licence)..... Do I have to reregister them in France to be allowed to ride and does SWMBO have to take her full bike test? Thanks in advance

Speaking to some chums yesterday, the word is that this might be the last ever trial held there. Apparently there are Mayorial elections next year, and there is a new candidate, who if elected wants to turn this whole area into a natural park. Result, no motobikes... So, whilst not set in stone, anybody who has always wanted to ride or its on a bucket list, I suggest when the entries come out later in the summer, to do it. There is a previous thread on what you need to do and how your bike needs to be... will be a real shame if it goes its the best two day twinshock / Pre 65 in France.

The recent classic trial at Rochepaule, France, attracted an entry of over 100 riders, the trial was held over 55 kms of interzone, and had 16 sections, 10 in the morning and 6 in the afternoon. When I mentioned at the weekend it seemed rather too little section action and not for me, I was met with a little gailic backlash. So would competitors on here, be happy with a trial with only 16 sections, would you travel up to 200 miles for this, or am thinking this is the slippery slope. .

  9. It remains a little place near Liège in Belgium where people can still do a little trial ... Without causing any ecological damages or neighborhood disorder ! Of course, some "neo-ecologists" attempt to classify the area as "Natura 2000" (protected area of ecological interest) You can appreciate the "ecological interest" of this place which was laid out and cleared of rubbish by people who took care : If you can help, sign the petition to show your opposition here : https://www.lapetiti...ment-12385.html Thank you for them.

Are there any forum members living in Spain and riding with Spanish clubs? Interested to know how licensing works, how clubs are run, if they mostly have their own land to practice on, that sort of thing? Thanks in advance ?

Apparently Luxembourg is allowing roll backs as long as feet is off the ground. 2 min time limits and stops with foot down is still a point. Belgium is allowing stops as well even though they really tried the no stop thing last year. Hrmmmm have the people spoken? --Biff

Just on the off chance someone out there might be interested. The Easter weekend 15 th 16th April we are organising a classic trial here in the best bit of the Dordogne. Just a few km's from Sarlat, 20 sections of fantastic quality, with a ride round of 20 odd km's. Might even be an excuse to get away, you won't be disappointed. We will accept modern bikes for over 40 riders.. all non stop. Camping is avaliable from Friday until Monday with toilets, and an evening Saturday night meal is arranged to help empty the French wine lake. Further details available by PM
