I had the Virgin media 20mb connection but downgraded it to 2mb simply because you are *for general use* paying for something that is there only on paper. There are too many other factors controlling speed and performance that are out of the ISP's control. Its like having a Ferrari when you can only drive it on a bumpy country lane. Try a connection speed test here http://www.ip-adress.com/speedtest/ Just for general information, the server for TC is in San Diego California. for example, getting the data to your computer means it will go through many relay servers. This term is called 'hops' as you can see below, getting the data (packets) from TC to my computer takes 15 hops. There was a timed out at hop 7 it appears. When this happens, the internet finds another route to go through to make the connection but you will notice a slower speed. I suggest as a comparison, you enter trailscentral.com and then bbc.co.uk after . (The bbc server is in London of course so will be much faster) I also ran a test from Microsoft.com. This also indicates similar problems as TC is experiencing with routing latency and poor performance. I'm getting between 60 to 128ms per hop for TC, and only 2ms for BBC.co.uk. It is also reporting some erratic behavior of some of the relay servers. Summary: Put in a ticket to get the internet fixed!

The first bike I had getting back into trials was a Sherco 290. As I hadn't ridden trials for like 18 years (or any other off road bike), I didn't know what to compare it too. I thought it was pretty powerful but didn't think it was overly powerful. Other people were saying all sorts of things about it being a handful etc etc but I didnt think it was anything special. Probably because I hadn't ridden anything else to compare it too. I reckon its a great bike. No problems with it whatsoever. Easy to ride and maintain. And considering you ride a biggish enduro bike, I wouldn't think you will find it a problem. Have a go and see what you think.

To overcome some ambiguity here on what people regard as slow and fast, could you give details of your rough location (i.e west midlands) , the speed of your connection. (i.e. BT ADSL 1mb Broadband ) and roughly the time it takes to display the full page. For me: Location: West Midlands Connection (home): 2MB Cable Virgin (was Blueyonder which was better) Speed: 4.5 secs for the front page. Forums around 3 seconds. ( much slower in the early evening . sometimes as much as 10 seconds) p.s. ( all after emptying the cache)

Well, what you all seem to be saying here is that this isn't a financial question, this is a moral one! Do you as a trials riders/buyer, prefer to 'feel' good about supporting your local dealer even though it costs a little more, or don't you give a toss and just want a cheap bike?
