  1. Have a look what size the pilot jet is. It should have a number in the 30's on it. It ideally wants to be either a 33, 34 or 35. If its not right when its being revved hard it sounds like the main jet though. The mixture screw should be between 3.5 and 4.5 turns out on a dellorto. That should make the diffrence to how it picks up rather than how it revs out though. The keihin carbs are good but an expensive fix for probably a small problem. Hope this helps.
  2. I have heard from a very very reliable source that there will be no stock whatsoever of the new racing bikes and they are special order only. I have also been told that the Raga will be fancy as normal but not a new design
  3. Thats fair enough as thats another cracking trial. They aren't that considerate down here, they run centre rounds on all the british champ and novogar dates!
  4. What is the reason for it being on a Saturday? Its usually on Sunday then the Lomax on the Monday. Seems a bit odd as most people especially from down south would do the 2 trials in one trip.
  5. I agree with the above posts. The front end is very light and I've just swapped from a Gasser. It feels very stable to ride, suspension very nice and plush. In regards to the carb it is easy to get it off but there is a knack to getting it back on. I have found that if you put the carb in the reed block first then put the airbox inlet on after it goes on a treat rather than fastening the inlet to the carb and trying to squeeze it into the reed block cos there aint much space! I found the power delivery on my 290 quick off the bottom with the standard dellorto but i'm running a 28mm flatslide dellorto now and that is lovely and smooth. My brother thought it was heavy on the back end but I think thats just cos its so light on the front! Just my observations!
  6. website for doodson's is doodsonbg.co.uk, fill in the enquiry and they will ring you back or the phone number is on there. I got an email with all the policy details within 24hrs and have confirmed I want it. Job done and covered for road trials for
  7. If you have a look around on the TC classifieds, TMX and ebay you will get an idea of what you could get for your money. All of the bikes are good, its all about preference. My mate got an 03 montesa 315 for
  8. Ive had a problem with Bennetts aswell. They wouldnt insure my new Sherco so i've gone to Doodson's. TPT&T including competitions all in for
  9. I'm quite convinced that having an easy route and making it no stop appeals to a lot more riders. Probably not the younger riders but if both trials are getting a full entry then thats good. The last time I did the Wallace and Colmore was a couple of years ago and they certainly weren't full. Just an example, the Jack Wood trial runs no stop and has 2 routes and is oversubscribed every year. I reckon that proves a point especially with the first 2 novogars both full entries.
  10. I wonder if the Wallace has got a full house aswell. I'm sure it got quite a good entry last year. Anybody know?
  11. Possibly a fair jump to a 280 cos the actual cc of the 160 is only 143. The 250's are quite managable if they are set up correctly with a flywheel weight and possibly a slow action throttle.
  12. I've had the 300,280,225 and 250 gassers and the easiest of the lot by far to ride is the 250. Its very soft and its grips fantastic. In my opinion not many riders need a 300, only perhaps the very top riders. I know there is a 250 raga on the classifieds which would give you the best of both worlds cos it looks fancy but is not a handfull in the slightest. Maybe worth a look. When I had a 300 it was a case of the bike riding me and not vice-versa like it should be.
  13. I have just got the advanced techniques dvd out of interest more than anything. It is actually more amusing than informative some of the things he says. What the hell is a jap zap when its at home?!!!! The funniest bit was near the end of the dvd when hes explaining what a minder does and he mentions that its possible to get 4 punctures per lap and was carrying a massive bag of dog turds! Another thing I noticed was when he describes muddy conditions, I think these Americans need to ride the Colmore or somewhere down south!!
  14. Thats not bad advice. There isnt much time to take in the scenery.Ive ridden it for the last 8 years and this year is the 9th and the only time I recall looking at any scenery in detail was in 08 on thursday when the army couldnt get to the fuel stop and all the entry had to stop! My advice is to walk up the section then walk back down it on the line you are riding and keep looking back up to take in any major details of the section that you can. Keep moving and you will be fine.
  15. I would second that about Bou's ride on the skips. I reckon thats one of the best rides on a section I have ever seen in my life cos that section to me looked horrendous and that was just watching it on tv! Just goes to show that if theres a slight chance of the section being possible he is the man! None of the other guys got anywhere near the first step! One of the other rides that stood out was Dibs' ride on the pipe? section with the massive step at the end. Fuji had 3 goes and still got nowhere near it! I must say that its one of the best indoors I have watched since the old Bercy days in the 90's.
  16. It was obviously shortened coverage cos when the programme started the commentator said welcome back. All in all it looked a bit of a crap trial in my opinion. Cabes was good on the last section though to win. Quite looking forward to Barcelona on Sunday night. I agree with Dabster that the description of the places trials take place was genius. Scotland was a complete afterthought and it does hold the best trial in the world!
  17. I rode a 225 in Scotland last year and it was the slowest thing i've ever ridden on the road with 9/42 gearing. Over the moors though it was brilliant. Dont worry about these idiots on Monts flying passed you on the road, you will soon catch them up when they are trying to pull the big lumps out of the bogs on the moors!
  18. there is a trial of some variety on at 9pm Sunday night for 90mins. Anybody have any idea which it is? Surely they wont have Barcelona on live will they as they didnt have the Marseille or Sheffield on live.
  19. I looked on the Eurosport schedule and there is an Indoor on at 9pm on Sunday night for 90mins. Not sure which one it is though
  20. The bearings that some of the bikes come with are rubbish. My old GG was getting through bearings pretty quickly when replaced with the standard ones from the factory which I am guessing could be the same as on the Scorpa. The problem was soon solved when I put Koyo bearings in. Either these or SKF are the best. As mentioned above, take off the rubber seal carefully and pack with waterproof grease and you wont have anymore problems.
  21. Cheers for that. At least it sounds like its worth the trip then.
  22. What is this trial like Perce? How many laps/sections etc? I have heard it runs up near cold knuckles, is that right?
  23. I picked mine up Friday and it really is a beautiful piece of kit. Had a little run round friday afternoon then rode it yesterday and must say I enjoyed myself more than I have done for a long time. Took the filter out and wedged some cloth in the inlet then put the filter back in and washed it and there wasnt a drop in the filter box. Very impressed!

    2010 Xispa

He's been on it for a while now. He told me he was just testing it but obviously he likes it! I rode round with Nick Shield in the SSDT when he was doing his little test and he said it was great apart from very high geared and the suspension let it down a bit.
  25. There were some new sections before the lunch stop at Fersit last year and if memory serves me right the first section was a decent sized waterfall which we had to set off at the top of a good 40- 50 ft waterfall that was gushing nicely! It was not a nice section for the clubmen but actually rode ok up the dodgy bit!
