  1. Big Gassers can be difficult for some riders. I think it is the fault of the kickstart internal cog design, which is no doubt innovative and weight saving but a right pain for many riders. The Ossa is just the same and may have been designed by the same guy (Xiu?). Its that big kick/nothing happening that is annoying. When I bought my 300 Pro I was told by the importers quotes 'you know they are hard to start.' Very true, although I did keep it for several years. It is pity because they ride so well. However most of the other big engined trials bikes start far far more easily in my opinion.
  2. Before you dismiss the Sherco type bike try a 300 Scorpa, it has the same engine but was designed by James Gonzales Adam Raga's ex minder. Local expert riders tell me they can tell the difference between the Sherco 300 and the Scorpa 300. The 4RT Montesa ( standard model, not Repsol) feels heavy by comparison but is lovely all the same. When I ride the two bike one after the other as I do (both pretty much new) I can only ride what I can, the bike I'm on makes no difference! OK maybe the Mont is a bit more tiring after a few hours but not by much.
  3. 200 Betas are rare, although often mentioned in these posts in advice to novices. To help you get started you could lower the compression of the much more common 250 2T Beta (or other makes) until you are and 'hard' enough for it, usually with an extra gasket or two or perhaps (not sure about Betas) with more modern bikes a cylinder head low compression insert. A dealer would advise I am sure. And yes you would have a load of fun on a 125 unless you have really big climbs in mind.
  4. The brown leather Hebo ones are still in the catalogue called the 'Technical Evo.' They have the flat shin plastic, not pointed, as Hebo seemed to have dropped the pointy look. Maybe they are similar to your older ones. I also tried the new Hebo Tech Comp with the snazzy wire fastening but found them a bit too different in fit for my taste

    Is This True?

Damon Hill did try out a new Ossa a while back at Jamsport, but the Mrs wasn't that keen I believe.
  6. "there is not a single square meter where you can practice trials legally. Not even in private land it is permitted." Blimey, Nobody expected the Spanish Inquisition to get involved! And as for JotaGas sorry, it was interesting I guess but not that interesting or different to challenge those current makes it came up against. Anyway if you still want one I guess all you have to do is move the back damper on a TRS!
  7. "The not so good: the 15A charge adaptor (I got the sport version) is a dud. It suffers from horrific in-rush when first switched on - trips the circuit breaker on a couple of the mains in my house. Often it actually only starts charging when plugged in a second time (with already-charged smoothing cap). I work for a semiconductor company..." Hmm, Rural French house wiring comes to mind, that always looks as if it has been installed after testing a carafe or three of Beaujolais. Seriously though, good luck with the EM
  8. Oh God, I've lied to my French girlfriend again! I've just texted to tell her that my new bike (Scorpa) was French.
  9. Thankyou. Nice to see the whole gig for a change, and even repeats of the naughty bits.
  10. Not maybe a Sherco 4t... ...Well, really maybe not the 2005 model (Chrome frame) anyway, unless you are a bike expert. Also care as some 250s have generally been considered to be a bit 'sharp' for muddy UK, fine on dry rocks (Holá España) hence the popularity of the bigger engine models of the same make in the UK and other wet parts.
  11. Insulation is good Celotex or Kingspan boards (Polyisocyanurate). They are rigid boards in different thicknesses. You can fix them under a Ply or Osb (oriented strand) board covering, floor, walls or ceiling using drywall screws. Then use a small tubular greenhouse heater on a time switch. Re cycle old plastic double glazed windows for light. If the building is timber keep it off the ground. Make sure the door/s etc shut tightly.

    Sherco 2012 St

I guess you might have inhaled a bit of grit off that mountain of volcanic dust methinks!
  13. They couldn't do an adequately "good" one when fourstroke was going to be mandated by the FIM Actually Graham Jarvis won the British Trials Championship on a Sherco 4T in I think 2008 or 9. So the poor old 320 must have been adequate!
  14. Gotta do well in the new Hebo boots!
  15. Very similar to the original Ossa factory mod for the early bikes, only theirs was a cluster of AA batteries. Below is the 'hand made' Works diagram. It did transform the starting. Switched on at start of play (bog standard switch) and left on until the end of the event. One small characteristic when switched on, there was a small fizzing sound for a couple of seconds which I took to be the pump charging the injector. Also if the tank was empty there was a distinctly different sound. Crude but effective.
  16. Yes the smoothest power I've ever felt on a trials bike. Better try one of these then...
  17. ..Very hard work to start... sorry
  18. From my 'new' Ossa experience I thought the K battery less ignition was very poor as it only worked now and then and was v going work to start, maybe the later bikes were better. It only came to life consistently when a couple (or more) AA batteries were wired in to the circuit. I agree tho' the bikes might easily become collectable, put it in the museum with your Sherco 320
  19. The whirlpool throttle has saved a lot of awkward moments as have decent disc brakes. And chain spray is so much nicer than boiling oil.
  20. Did you change the o rings? Even if they look OK they can still be knackered and the effect will be the same, the coolant weeping out.
  21. Teasing us eh? No photos for 6 months? So no point in looking at a Dragonfly thread till then I guess! Suggested retail price UK for a Dragonfly E, I have been quoted by a UK dealer £5,700, same as the French EM.
  22. Nobodys mentioned the Spanish Inquisition. They make them there or at least assemble them, so surely they are a bit cheaper en Espana even with all the Vat etc.
  23. "Even Mecatecno Melcior Estorch turned up" (cheers Gas Gas 249UK) Melcior? Isn't he the cycling wizard in 'Harry Potter and the Slippery Shallows ?' Personally, I quite like the 'cheap' frame ones ('my bikes a Vandal') and the 'works' brown crankcases would certainly match our local mud!
