  1. Yes, I always got along with the Amal. Had one a Cota 200. Anytime that bike did not start in two kicks meant that the pilot jet was plugged up.

    Boots

Sidi is the best , if they fit. I wear Gaerne`s as my feet have spread with age.
  3. The tickler actually put fuel in the cylinder. Worked much better for starting purposes. And yes I had a Mar when new.
  4. You could always bring the Fantic to our Itsa National next month. Pits are at 8000 ft.The sections a little higher! http://mtwestvintagetrials.org/event/sipapu-nm-rds7-8/

    2016 Cota Rr

Well I know of one that was ordered. We`ll see what it`s all about in the fall. Maybe.
  6. I doubt the stator is the issue if it runs good when warm. At 40 years plus the seals are more likely the problem. Speaking of the stator, has the wiring been moved to the top of the case? When new, they were under the motor.
  7. I`ve never sanded the friction plates as I have plenty of the steel. I would give them all a light quick sand and re-install. Measure the finger height during installation. And if you are still too low. Just run the bike awhile, then find a nice tree or something solid. Click it up to third or fourth and burn the plates in a little. It might take a few tries.
  8. That`s nitrogen, should be filled to 225-250 lbs. Just going by what other bikes take.
  9. For those that think an 1800 rpm tick over is no big deal. Take any other bike you have (90% of you have `other bikes`) and set that idle up. Try to ride it like usual.
  10. Common sense would be to go for a brand that the doors are open. Gas Gas has been the #1 selling bike for many, many years. If you like the bike I would really work the price.
  11. The Beta`s are great bikes. The 4 stroke actually has some KTM history. Very soft and mellow. Enough after market parts to make it a hot fire breather if you desire.
  12. Just a side note my son`s Raga with the spring cut just so, is surprisingly perfect. Best throttle I ever felt. Almost too easy, but feels great. P.S. previous owner cut it.

  14. You can clip a little off the spring. Not too much. If it is harder than it used to be, it`s possible that the bar has become grooved under the throttle.
  15. Yes the TL was awful. (All of them) But he has one and not ridden trials. The Alpina does not turn. Unless the sections are straight through. He should take the TL to an event and try. And if he just has to have a Bultaco, make it a Sherpa T. Most everyone loves the Buls (Very eye appealing) till they ride one.
  16. Being an Ossa rider, Mick was always my hero. Glad to of finally met him!
  17. The TL was a better trials mount.
  18. Hopefully they taught you to turn with your feet too! Luckily I`m naturally bowlegged. ( Or is that from 44 years of proper turning?) This bloke inspired my knee out position.
  19. At the USA World round in 2013 I brought up the 1974 Ute Cup to Bernie. His face lit right up and we had quite a conversation. Not all things are lost to age. Nice find to someone that loves the brand.
  20. A 2005 Montesa 4Rt that is very clean still fetches almost 5000.00 $ in the states even though Honda started bringing the bikes in for 7500.00 in 2014. The clean used Gassers could have the same type of following. Two years from now a like new Pro model could actually be more valuable. A well used bike will have the opposite effect as the Pro also has a short life span. I feel sorry for the people that made Gas Gas the only brand they made their living from. My son has a Gasser he is working and saving for to buy as a second bike. The Pro is his bike of choice. He just does not like anything else!
  21. Looks like it had some stator work before. I`m guessing a 2001. The 2002 air filter was under the seat. I cannot remember the stator readings, but I would double check the grounds and kill switch first. Good luck.
  22. Yes, the modern idea of a set-up type approach has become a must in the setting of sections. Set it to be ridden as nature intended, not from just the easy side of things. Way different approach for the set up crew. Taffe any change in the World round sections should be an immediate five, as the riders know the rules.
  23. Besides turning better, gripping better and being lighter. You might hate it.

    Fix This?

Did you measure the clutch pack or the fingers when apart? They have to be within spec, and could just be needing replaced. http://www.gasgas.com/Pages/Technical/Pro/clutch-measurements.html
