  1. Just a side note my son`s Raga with the spring cut just so, is surprisingly perfect. Best throttle I ever felt. Almost too easy, but feels great. P.S. previous owner cut it.

  3. You can clip a little off the spring. Not too much. If it is harder than it used to be, it`s possible that the bar has become grooved under the throttle.
  4. Yes the TL was awful. (All of them) But he has one and not ridden trials. The Alpina does not turn. Unless the sections are straight through. He should take the TL to an event and try. And if he just has to have a Bultaco, make it a Sherpa T. Most everyone loves the Buls (Very eye appealing) till they ride one.
  5. Being an Ossa rider, Mick was always my hero. Glad to of finally met him!
  6. The TL was a better trials mount.
  7. Hopefully they taught you to turn with your feet too! Luckily I`m naturally bowlegged. ( Or is that from 44 years of proper turning?) This bloke inspired my knee out position.
  8. At the USA World round in 2013 I brought up the 1974 Ute Cup to Bernie. His face lit right up and we had quite a conversation. Not all things are lost to age. Nice find to someone that loves the brand.
  9. A 2005 Montesa 4Rt that is very clean still fetches almost 5000.00 $ in the states even though Honda started bringing the bikes in for 7500.00 in 2014. The clean used Gassers could have the same type of following. Two years from now a like new Pro model could actually be more valuable. A well used bike will have the opposite effect as the Pro also has a short life span. I feel sorry for the people that made Gas Gas the only brand they made their living from. My son has a Gasser he is working and saving for to buy as a second bike. The Pro is his bike of choice. He just does not like anything else!
  10. Looks like it had some stator work before. I`m guessing a 2001. The 2002 air filter was under the seat. I cannot remember the stator readings, but I would double check the grounds and kill switch first. Good luck.
  11. Yes, the modern idea of a set-up type approach has become a must in the setting of sections. Set it to be ridden as nature intended, not from just the easy side of things. Way different approach for the set up crew. Taffe any change in the World round sections should be an immediate five, as the riders know the rules.
  12. Besides turning better, gripping better and being lighter. You might hate it.

    Fix This?

Did you measure the clutch pack or the fingers when apart? They have to be within spec, and could just be needing replaced. http://www.gasgas.com/Pages/Technical/Pro/clutch-measurements.html
  14. The 350 was just a pig after a half a throttle. Go back down in jet size. Are you going to ride trials? The most improvement would be to remove half of the flywheel weight on a lathe.
  15. Obvious it was inflated egos along with the new FACTORY. Shame as it was a good run of a trials based machine.
  16. Use a clear hose that goes above the master cylinder.
  17. Should find quite a few gassers for cheap shortly. A 250 would be plenty.
  18. Nice list of the old guys. Brings back some old memories and new ones. Bob Micket moved to N.M. years ago and just sold his last bike this month. Hate to see the guys I`ve ridden with finally give it up.
  19. You can remove two of the clutch springs. Works great unless you plan large obstacles. Used it that way for about 5 years until our vintage club went to harder sections. The 200 was my favorite vintage bike being underpowered as it is. But I had to go to a larger bike when the ledges got bigger.

    Gb Vs Usa

  21. It`s amazing that it took 4 years to check the linkage bearings. All bikes should be disassembled and lubed when new. I would order the part from Beta UK. American Beta is pretty new for an importer, and just because they do not have it has nothing to do with sales numbers. I applaud your view on zero play, but that means a lot of maintenance on a trials bike or a proper fix like fulltilt did. Funny the older bikes actually had more zerks and the newer models none.
  22. That is the same bushing as the other side. I would ask the previous owner. Was the bearing dry? More likely it was run loose.
  23. Grease it up and put it back together till the part comes in.
  24. Use all six springs. By the way the clutch only goes together one way. The hub has a mark and so does the pressure plate. It is NOT symmetric. Good luck.
  25. That`s funny, just last week one 4RT would not start. It still had the original plug in it. Ten years old, just had a small metallic feather.
