  1. Hate to tell you .but the colors do not match up well on these bikes.
  2. http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/topic/44336-techno-98/
  3. I would be concerned on the shift shaft being bent. Did it all go together easily?
  4. That`s why I love vintage trials. I carry a well stocked fanny pack for that purpose. I never could get away with that riding modern.
  5. Oh another unsolved mystery, Could be all the above. Lowbrow if you turn the gas off any bike, it should quit running?
  6. Actually Dan, I think torx works better in an allen than in a torx. Try it if you have not.
  7. I`d go back to the speedo drive as I seem to have done that in the past.
  8. Take off the skid plate. Use a small chisel and knock it loose. From now on use the right size torx as it grabs better. I have seen quite a few minders carrying torx instead of allen. The torx gets a better bite the first try. PS the oil filler plug can be used until you get the proper parts.
  9. Not too worry. There will be many a spares bike too be had!

    Brake Hose Guide

You could go to any main stream dealership (non-trials) and find one.
  11. Sorry for hijacking your post fivebrick. Hope I make the AZ national. I owe you a cold one!
  12. The black to the coil and green to ground as that is all I have. Red to lights?
  13. I would agree that it could be mains on that old bike. But mains are constant. Check the rear hub bearing as it can be going bad and feel like the motor.
  14. The 311 was the first water cooled Montesa and the 314 was the first Honda powered Montesa. Both very large bikes for the era. We had about 4-5 of the 311`s in our club. Very soft on the bottom, which with the stop and launch riding at the time was not good. People that owned them did like`em. Have fun.
  15. I`ve ridden since `72 and only have needed one hydraulic hose. And since hydraulics have come along, I can only remember replacing about 10 for other people.
  16. You look good in practice at home. But what I can tell from the pics is you drop your shoulder and suck the knee in when in trouble. You have got to trust to stay firm with the proper stance. Weight back a little and drop the heels and bend the knees on climbs. I love the wheelie as you are still game!
  17. The only thing things a dealer needs to stock, Levers brake pads, bars, grips and jets. Throttle assemblies and both sizes of throttle cables. All these are universal. For the gasser. Shift lever, .engine gasket set, several primary gaskets, a water pump seal, kick start shaft with extra pawl, several top hats with spring and a shift shaft. The rest can be ordered quickly enough. ft with extra f
  18. On a pro model, I carry a throttle assembly, clutch lever, brake lever and a shift lever. All things easily replaced in less thn a few minutes. I do have quite a few parts at home. Really any large inventory leads to a dealership. At that point trials is not near as fun.
  19. We run several different Ski Resorts during the summer months. We`ve lost many a top end from running downhill for long periods of time. It`s hard to get the riders to stay on the Gas on some of the steep runs!
  20. You nicked the piston. Pull the exhaust header off and check the piston.
  21. In our club, anyone that had a 4RT is now riding Beta`s. It is about 50/ 50 between the 2t and 4t. Myself I never liked the Montesa as too heavy for a modern bike. Unless you don`t hop much.
  22. I`ve got about 5 inches in the yard not counting the snow drifts. Our main riding area 70 miles away is pretty clear, except on the backside of the hills. We skip January, but our first event is in two weeks!
  23. The USA Gas Gas parts warehouse had a 100% in stock parts logo for years. When they could not get the parts from factory shortages, the logo went away and with it my faith that Gas Gas would stay solvent.
