  1. Not everyone adapts to trials riding the same. Modern bikes are all about clutch control. If you do not have it you are in for some exciting rides. It seems previous riding experience does little compared to athletic ability. Some take to it rigjt away and others struggle for years to get just a little better than when they started.Good luck and always make it fun.
  2. My son did that his first trials with one on. And he is tall and thin. Just had to reposition the mounting. It does take some thinking and it does give a false sense of security on nasy sections.
  3. Sunday at the US GP I laughed at all the stomping and blowing on rocks. Out of 17 GP riders I gave out 27 fives for 34 attempts. I had only 5 riders get through my section. Lots of crashing going on. I thought the riders handled it exactly as I would have. All celebration when they made it and p****d off when they crashed. And a Vertigo did make it up once all weekend. Fajrado did get a one on his fourth ride.
  4. Yes, my son actually rides a Beta 300 4T. When he was ten years old he was over 5 foot and growing fast. I made my own peg mounts and used tall ATV bars. We sold his bike and soon the new owner realized an adult could actually ride that TY 80. We now have around 10 guys riding the TY80 class just for fun.
  5. The 4T does not require much attention other than oil changes and carb work. Over thinking ownership, go ride it more.
  6. I saw a rider in the GP class with back protection. He had a terrible crash in the section I was scoring at Kingman. Too bad the foot peg hit his kidneys two inches away from his protector. I was relieved when he got up and walked out of the section. PS I have become more comfortable with the wrist strap. It has saved my bike once in the six months of use. It also has caused me to almost crash in 6th gear twice while attempting to scratch my nose.
  7. The ty80 can be made to fit with custom peg mounts, taller bars. We actually have a ty80 class in our vintage series. This is my 6 foot 4 inch tall boy.
  8. Since this was re-kindled, the FIM has two more rules coming. Face guards and they have to be approved and back protection. Before long we will have air bags.

    Won't start.

Blowing air through a Keihin can kill it. Who ever originally thought blowing compressed air through small passageways was helpful was an idiot. Now everyone thinks this is normal. I hope you find you have done something else and it again runs great. Otherwise there is hope. There is a tower inside the body that can be removed. It`s held in place with security screws. This allows further access to the other passages. Trouble is you cannot buy the o ring type seal that seals the tower, so be careful. Good luck.
  10. Are you sure it is not the 80?
  11. That is like going backwards. Would need new manifold and air box boot. Throttle cable too.
  12. Most likely the suspension is sacked out.
  13. If it will not run unless the choke is on, the first thing would be a good carb clean. Secondly you need to check the fluid flows from the petcock and that the tank is actually clean inside.
  14. Bent rotor, loose front axle, air in the system.
  15. Or a poor way of explaining a real burnt clutch.
  16. 16 plug 15 ignition coil 13 voltage regulator 12 generator 11 ignition unit 10 fan control 9 thermometric switch 8 fan 3 connectors 1-7 just lights 14 lights power supply

    beta breather

Sure it does increase flow, but they have had bikes suffering vapor lock for no apparent reason. I would guess this is a remedy for those few cases.
  18. You will get more response posting in the Aprilia section.
  19. Seal the inside with epoxy and Jb weld the outside, sand and paint. Twenty bucks and two hours work.
  20. You all are thinking two stroke problems. This whole thing is probably the fuel pump/vacuum lines issue along with vapor lock from a hot motor. Damn Sherco with the remote tank anyways. I was sure happy the day we sold my boys 2012.
  21. Could be something simple like the detent for the shift drum, missing, loose or broken spring. I would not even worry about the case. A sight glass is not needed.
  22. I love that Pro keeps a going. Probably has some of the most hours of any Pro. Keep making it better zippy.
  23. I gave you specs for what we ran at the nationals. Which is your elevation.
  24. What jets have you tried. I told you what we used at the Nationals. Did you get a fuel screw or did Ron install it when new?
