    Bike Recovery

Could 08 be a super wet year ? after looking at the flooding pictures, might need more than one efalump. I think OTH should send em through the bog at Leanachen on Sat, that should sort them old buggers out
  2. He'll be reet, his practice section got a bit damp this past week. http://silsden.net/pictures/floods_jan2008/index.htm
  3. I think the smell is what folk are after, adding a cap full to the gas on a fourstroke isn't going to come in contact with oil in the sump.
  4. I have this pint bottle of Blendzall #485 bottle states it contains 1/3 racing castor lube, claims! allows higher compression ratios, prevents pre ignition and detonation, blends perfectly with all fuel-no seperation. Premotes quick cold weather starting, no additional oil required for two cycles. Usage!! 2 cycle 1 pint to 1 gallon, 4 cycle 1 pint to 3-4 gallon, 2 cycle auto lube 1 pint to 4 gallon. I add a couple of 0Z to a can of gas for the four banger now and again, that is plenty to get the wiff circulating the woods, but 1 pint/ gal for two bangers would get a bit spendy, have you tried speed stick deoderant Note!! if you do use castor, for some reason every one in the woods can smell it bar the man using it.
  5. No marks or owt, TDC cam lobes need to be pointing down with lobes at about twenty past and twenty too if looking at a clock face. Cam won't fit through hole in this position, so you have to twist and locate cam in place, then install cam sprocket and chain. Make sure cam chain tensioner is removed before you do any head work, and it should be the last thing you install after you get it all back in place.
  6. Ha! that may slow me down a bit, in the US mainly due to not riding as many beck holes and mud you do over there, chain life is twice as long.
  7. Have you ever noticed how much easier a bike free wheels or if on a stand how much easier it is to spin the back wheel with the lighter chain. Seen plenty of 125's using the lighter chain and wondered if they would take the stick of 250 up motor, if the engineer is happy and trusts them, mebe time to go lighter on chain and sprockets.
  8. What a load of BS that is! what is the point of having UK dealers for the product them selling Direct, I'm not having a go at Vince, in fact he is a great fellow, but is there a correct way or is it a free for all. if you first set up the dealer, sell them x amount of product, then sell more product direct to the customer, the dealer get's stuck with unwanted product, or has to sell below cost to move it. Manufacturer, importer, dealer, Customer, if one of the first two starts cutting corners, chances are the dealer will pack up, and the customer will start shopping online, out of country if the price is lower. Maybe it is time the importers sell direct, and let the second hand bike sales/repair shop, sink or swim, at least they would know where they stood, and wouldn't be buying product that was going to sit on their shelf for the rest of it's life. Trials is a very small market, and I don't know why, but all trials enthusiast's seem to carry the don't spend gene, wouldn't it be better for a few to make a living at sales of trials products than many making nothing?.

    Ufo's

It's just a few Gorgon's sticking in survey markers for the intergalatic expressway, I think you have time for one last beer.
  10. I never thought I would hear the day a Tillamook trout would trade off for dust and rocks
  11. Bugger, knew I would miss out by not going.
  12. Shouldn't it be, make sure your mate has plenty of everything, all you truly need is a fiver.
  13. What part of the US are you flying from? best airport to fly to is Glasgow, then catch a bus up to Fort William. Best hotel would be one of the Hotels located just over the road from the park Ferme, after the first day you will understand why
  14. Remember the days when the rear mudguard actually kept mud off you, it also went further under the sub-frame and kept water and mud from slinging off the rear wheel into the air box. Now the narrow piece of plastic that protected you crack from the slack, is just a place to stick your favorite oil logo, can you sit on them ? only if you want to burn off a few hemorrhoids, but who cares!! they look good. My advice would be to contact Mr Brian Kid Kinell Curran, and order a pair of his cut off waterproof shorts.
  15. And HL just volunteered to do it, so jobs a good un
  16. Just had a thought Woody, a twin shock trial could run with the SSDT, the twin shock class would set off last each day but rotate within the class, and only ride to the lunch stop, when they turn in the card at the lunch stop they are done, except the time given to ride from that point to the PF, it still would be a good week of trialing, even if only half what the main entry do, evening at the bar would be just as long. They say 270 is the maximum the event can cope with due to daylight, the shorter course for the twin shock entries would allow them to be back well before the last main event rider each day. They would still get to see and ride a good portion of the event, while being a lot easier week for both old man and old machine. This way would both boost entry fees and commerce in Fort William and add to the week without changing the SSDT at all, the main addition to the workload for the event organizers being paperwork scoring etc, nothing would need to change on the actual course. Then again with a full entry why would they want to bother, if the entries for the SSDT were under 270 a year or two, then summat like this may get a bit more thought.
  17. I remember Mick Andrews riding a TLR 250 in the twin shock class, think it was the first year Doug rode the event, 94? I'm sure EDMC did give an award for the best performance by a twin shock motorcycle, probably died through lack of entries in the class. Maybe HL or OTH can verify if it was fact? Edit, Now I think about it, Doug was on the Beta Gara his first year, so must of been 93.
  18. Now you know where all them nicked cars go
  19. I'm past riding SSDT and I had some say what the bike was going to do, them hay munchers would chuck you off just so all their mates could trample on thi.
