  1. If the riders were consistently given a dab in this situation, you would find that they would soon stop doing it, that's how accidental it is!! and if they needed to dab to stop a rollback or get up a step, they would take a big safe dab and lift the bike up. The reason you see them keeping the foot on the peg and trying to lever the bike up with their toe's, is most of the time they get away with it, it's their job to know what they can and can't get away with.
  2. It's a team event, they don't post individual scores, nor should they.
  3. I just received my renewal notice for my AMA membership, the full membership in the past has allowed me to compete in AMA sanctioned trials, you could also sign on for as many years has you wish to pay for at one time, that expires date/year shown on card Along with the renewal notice, is a Racing membership renewal, for AMA members who wish to race in 08, Well I presume 08, because the form they sent says if your racing in 07 important notice, this form requires you fill out and have notorized an annual release and liability waiver. In the past I have signed the liability waiver at the sign in of the individual event. My question is! can I still renew as a full member and sign on at the one or two individual AMA sanctioned events I do ride, or is my only option, to renew with the racing membership ? The reason I ask, is I'm not that bothered if I ride any national trials or not, and the only time I need the AMA membership card is to do this. It says on the form that the benifits of having racing credentials will grow as they move forward, maybe it will for road racing, but I don't see the benifit of renewing it annually and having to get it notorized each time, that also carries a fee, over just renewing for x amount of years at one time.
  4. I would like to see in the rule book where it say's a rider can use their foot to regain balance and not incur a penalty. A rider of my ability if loosing balance or could possibly slip back off an obstacle will put the foot down to save themselves or end up in a heap, the top lad's are bloody artist at saving it with the front part of the foot while keeping the boot on the peg, but are still using it to regain balance, is there a different set of rules for them? this isn't about any named rider, but the credibility of the sport. How can you question an observers call if it is a correct call stated in the rules. I can't believe how many have said they can see why the observer gave the rider a dab, but if it were them observing they would of given the rider a clean, is that fair observing to the rider who does clean the section correctly. How could a spectator begin to understand the scoring, when one rider dabs and get's one penalty point, and another dabs and doesn't, they probably think the rules are just like assembly instructions, more guidelines then rules.

    Boots?

Dear Chris, you need to buy a pair four sizes too big, that way you can still dab with you foot on the peg's and not get scored for it.
  6. Some very good pictures on the RYP site clicky > http://www.rypusa.com/pics/tdn/ Great result for team USA, and look like they were enjoying it too.
  7. Don't you think Jake looks like Simon off American idol
  8. What do you mean by Dangerous? Do you mean on an industrial competitive level or a military one? I ask because China has 1.3 Billion people! Thats over 2 times the size of the USA & Europe combined of course. China at some point will rule the world. To that there is no doubt! I think it goes hand in hand, seems to have been the case all through history, and the dictators seem to want to rule the world. On a military level, only defense against such a large force would have to be nuclear, probably why they are testing rockets and trying to get a nuclear program started, at best I would think the whole nuclear arms race will start up again.
  9. I have got to wonder if the topic would of even been started if it was Raga instead of Doug ? They should let the world championship lads score each other, that should sort the job.
  10. The truth is the world round lad's can stop a bike sliding back and push the bike up on to the rock with their toe while the rest of the foot is on the peg. The question has to be, what is a dab!! if one rider has to take his boot of the peg to do the same as a rider who can dab with his boot on the peg, because one fella has size seven feet and t'other bugger has canoes " The situation creates un-needed bad feeling and frustration all round. I gave up observing at the Manx Two-Day Trial way back in the 60s because I recorded the legenday Sammy Miller with a one at Arragon Beg, Santon, and I learned later, and without any consultation with myself, that he had successfully managed to have the score nulified. LIONEL COWIN"
  11. I think the big picture is a lot bigger than knocking out a trials bike copy. On the world news the other night they claimed how many Chinese hackers were hacking into US government military computers, and said one Chinese general had claimed they had the capability to shut down the whole US power and communications network, when confronted they stated it must be local nerds hacking in, but they have a strict flow of info in and out of China. They even thought has they make so many of the worlds PC's that they put what they call a Trojan horse in them. Of all the countries out there, I think China will be the most dangerous has they get stronger and more technically advanced, all courtesy of the greedy corporate west.
  12. I would think an helmet cover would take care of most of the issues above, good enough for horse racing why not trials. Probably less expensive than a fancy paint job.
  13. I think it's a very good result for the US riders, I wouldn't know, but probably the best results the US has had since the early eighties. Close between Japan and GB, but Spain romped it, and so they should going on WR form, lad's will soon close the gap in the next year or two though.

    Baby Sherco

My boy rides an 03 80, so we put full sized wheels on it, it also has a bigger flywheel to make it soft and smooth. He is now 110lb and has ridden the bike the last three years with no problems, the biggest factor for me is it doesn't get away on him, grips well because in truth he never rev's it high enough to break traction. And will idle down and pull from nothing, in fact many the time I thought he would stall it and didn't, can't coment on other 80's don't know, but watching them they seem to need them buzzing a bit more.

  19. Probably the same as phone sex, some times you just need the direct contact.
  20. I bet it is a good final round, knowing you lot I bet it isn't won on 10 . Them poor buggers thought Hawkstone was tough
  21. Not many about yet, but they did well in the ssdt, buy what you fancy you would if you were buying a car.
  22. So my 7yr old takes a rattle snake tail to school for show and tell. And tells the teacher that it grows a rattle each year, so you can tell how old the snake is by how many rattles it's got. So the teacher asked him "I wonder how long they live then" Lad said "not long my dad hit it on the head with a big stick"
  23. I could see where he would get the going for a big dab from, but not the stop and balance bit
  24. You can cure the flat spot off idle by just tweaking the mixture screw, one of the bikes greatest assets is being able to go up steps and climbs from nothing, in fact I felt more comfortable leaving it a bit late and getting on my line on the 3.2, than I have on any other bike. I have seen many 4rt riders drop the idle from factory spec, and they stall easier, it also makes them hard to start, if you want somthing to fail, you probably can make it. You state yourself Don, when you first got your 4rt you had to get used to it, how many hours have you got on a 3.2 ? It takes time and setup for any rider on any bike for it to feel right for that rider. I think the Mont is a well made reliable bike, and rode one the past two years in the SSDT, all round best bike for the job in my mind, but in the sections I had better results on a sherco 125.
