  1. A lad from our club took some Video http://www.rvrcglider.com/video/donnerpass...ontwolapone.wmv
  2. So is a good second hand bike for 2000 or 2500 a better deal than a new cheapo knock off version, I can see the attraction to the punter to buy a new one, but has many know TV's VCR's all eletrical type products are now built over there, and many other items including toothpaste containing polyglycol, kid's toys painted with led, and food items with cardboard filler to make up the bulk. I would rather have a job and pay more for a spanish built bike then no job and not be able to afford the knock off, companies spend a lot of time and $ to make a product, why bother if it will be imediately copied and sold half price.
  3. The small trials manufacturers are finding it hard as it is, basically running on passion with most return going back into test and development and running the team, I can't see this being good for the sport. If anyone can just buy a Beta, Gas Gas, Sherco and send it to China, to have it cloned to churn out reproductions at a fraction of the cost, then sell to the public at half price of the original item. Of course they will sell plenty, Joe consumer can't pass on the deal !! what happens to the company who spent all the time, effort, $, building the machine in the first place.
  4. This new Xispa 250 trials bike, looks like a carbon copy of a Sherco to me Where is it made ? and by who ?
  5. It is good to see that someone made the effort to round up the sponsorship for prize money in the pro class, hope they get a mention,I did hear quite a few importers and other businesses donated the funds. maybe a list of all who donated along with the event story could be good PR, and isn't that what sponsorship is about Don't go flashing it about too much though, may start another British invasion Good two days of trials, and I must say the young pro riders have kicked it up a gear since I last saw them ride, I think they will be a good US team for the TDN. The sections on Sunday did change a lot from rider to rider, loose soil and boulders rolling out, saw a couple of riders who were having good rides and lost it due to this. Pat was getting nose bleeds, I told him so did Doug on his first visit to Donner.
  6. I think the US trials scene has a lot going for it Doug, it's a bit different but in some ways better than the UK. The north east, Kentucky/Tennessee, California and north west coast seem to have the most trials activity, keep in mind each of these areas are lot bigger than the UK. You often make a weekend of a trials event, be it a one or two day event, the camping and social side are second to none, and some of the terrain is the most spectacular anywhere in the world. All the bikes and spares are easily available, and the event's cater for any class of rider. Reason you don't see too many US riders in world competition, is the majority of the event's are over three thousand miles + to get too, and if you live on the west coast, make that six thou +,without a whole lot of $ or moving the few have even a greater hill to climb. The UK has both a greater concentration of riders and events, in a small area, this allows more riders to practice and compete together on a regular basis, other than that, I don't think trials is any better there than here.

    Mr Vain ?

He didn't show you the right side of the van, it has a big hole in it
  8. Just roll it into the expert line
  9. It was the lad's first ever post, He may or may not have known he was riding on land he shouldn't of been, but that we will never know, because he was shot down before he even got chance to speak. Did he cut the fence at Menwith and ride over the golf balls, was he riding on a peice of land legally and crossed a boundry, we don't know, but hang the ****** anyway.
  10. What a load of b*****ks, you lot never rode your bikes on land that you were not sure who owned ? mebe the kid should turn to drugs, or breaking into your houses, he probably would have less chance of getting nicked.
  11. Good time to visit/ride in the U.S Live rates at 2007.07.11 20:38:33 UTC 1.00 GBP = 2.03176 USD United Kingdom Pounds United States Dollars 1 GBP = 2.03176 USD 1 USD = 0.492184 GBP
  12. You can always buy a 2.5 and stick a new 125 motor in it, then sell the 2.5 motor.
  13. i heard he's had enough of battling with little or no support. Weird how Michael Brown and Dabill have been picked up for Teams yet Shaun has had to struggle on!!!! Shaun had a works "ride" with gas gas this year, taking fajardo's bike I understand. I see on TODO trial, Taddy hung his boots up. Getting Fajardo's last years works bike still doesn't pay the bills Nige.

    The Scott

Tha's not seen too much of the 2nd third
  15. I remember some lad's in our club talking about how they would use plastic shovels as skid plates on their SWM's just heat them up a bit to mould them in place. Good point to using the shovel, was if you ended up to the axle's in **** you could always dig yourself out. In parts of the US they would make you have spark arrestors for the sparky plate.

Many pics available, near perfect except for some minor rubber pieces. $2200. buyer pays shipping from Los Angeles, CA I appreciate the help if possible.
  18. As mentioned it's only a bit of debate, and world trials could do with a bit of debate, It may be just me, but I see less interest in the world championships, including these forums, than I have ever seen. Maybe it's because a Brit, isn't leading the title race, and the next generation of young riders from the UK may stir up the interest again, I don't know. I don't think trials should go back to the 80's, but if you think world trials has progressed since then, why are there less sponsored riders and competitors overall taking part ? a world round ranking and championship points used to worth going after, and even the lower place points were hard to come by, now the lower place points aren't worth turning up for, or so it seems when they are left unclaimed.
  19. I don't care what they do at world level, but it does have an effect on the club rider, as COTA say's, catchers needed at sections in a local club event, is this a positive way to grow club entries or does it deter riders from entering.
  20. I think your post gives more to the banning of minders than keeping them, minders needed at club trials ? Since the introduction of minders to world trials, in what area has numbers increased, other than competitors leaving. A good minder is there to give his man any advantage they can!! altering sections, arguing calls, obstructing the view of the observer, having a full set of spares in the form of a bike and many other thing's that just fly in the face of what the sport is about, on the other hand the observer is reluctant to five a rider for the antics of the minder. Cater for a few, and that is just what you will get, a few.
  21. Like they did in 04, 05, 06, skipped 07 cos no bugger was listening
  22. Motorcycle clubs, do we need them? Yes we do, the club is the backbone of the sport, and trials is nothing more than a clubman's sport, I think you will find that the club who cater for the clubman the most, are the stronger clubs. If it was left to individuals to run trials event's on a profit making basis, I don't think there would be a fraction of the event's on any given weekend, it would cost a lot more to ride and I doubt the sport would survive very long . Many give to trials as a member of a club, being part of a friendly social group gives a person more incentive to give of time and effort than a few quid ever will, if they want to earn a few extra quid then they put in a few extra hours of overtime at work. I also think those who try and make a living from the sport if it be riding, sales, or promotion are welcome to try, and more power to them if they can, but just the same as in any other profit making venture, your on your own, and no club should change how they cater for the clubman to benefit the business man. I'm guilty when it comes to getting the younger generation to help, I'm one of those stubborn old buggers who think if you want it done your way, then you best do it yourself, and I do think I/we could give the youth more responsibility by let them put on an event or two themselves, there is only one way to learn! that's do it. I do like the idea of ten or so club's running one event each and that club's members have to observe their own event, and still have the other 9 round's of a series to ride, sensible solution to the man power problem, but would only work in area's with a large concentration of club's.
  23. Why is he offering up one of his ladies
  24. L and M promotions will probably go with that Gemma, she looks like she wouldn't eat too much.
  25. Just a thought, when milk quotas came about, farmers would sell their quotas to other farmers, also companies and even countries sell their pollution quotas. My thought is! if farmers are given a quota of 14 day's that their land can be used for none farming purposes, why can't those who's land isn't any good for trials or any other motor sports trade the day's same as they did with the milk quotas ?
