  1. I see Bear was there(down from MN) and I hope Ben came with him. These guys come a long way to escape snow!
  2. That one is a clooectors item by now! Over the top job !
  3. Yea, e's got his bloody films published too! A star now! Almost normal if he keeps the helmet on!
  4. Marching along the trail whistling the theme to Hogans Hero's were you?
  5. Put me down again, John!
  6. If the bike is stock and unaltered, you can try setting the ignition timing back 5-6mm on the plate. This reduces stalling and kickback on startup, slows the bike with a smoothing effect a bit for the novice rider. This setting is preferred by many novice and old farts like me! You may want to try 50wt oil in the gearbox, which slows the clutch reaction a bit. All this is presuming the bike is running normally otherwise?
  7. OK Albert, No offense meant or taken! If you notice, I deleted my prior post! There were basically three points I was attempting to make to you. 1- I believe what you are doing is for the good! 2- The rules on this site do not allow you to sell! Few exceptions are made by the moderators and even in a case like this it should be on a non profit basis and more of an offering, as my experience suggests. If it is questionable, it may well be deleted, which leaves all at a loss. 3- Only time will tell if yours may work "better"! Be more reliable and such. You are not there yet! Lucas had good intentions! Hope you understand, as in a twisted sort of way, I am actually trying to help you here. MC
  8. Nothing really, that's just how they manage enough fuel to get round on them things, sorta like an iranian bomb packer! It'ds the condom full of mix oil shoved up the rear that is the painfull part!
  9. It's 225 per leg on the small 80 forks, gaz
  10. Even at a quick look down the list: Alexz, Dib's, Sam, Browny, Jon, Jack and Jonny! Tough croud!
  11. From the "I ride in shorts" bregade! Glue some of those Gaerne soles on your tennis shoes dude!
  12. Notice subtitle, disaster! One does need to prepare for a certain amount of it when riding on the road! I have had my fair share! Can I still do a full stop controlled lock -up slide into a box? On a 4-5 600lb road bike? Maybe? On a crotch rocket? Lets not go there! But probably still. I find it almost embarrasing to say that I have been riding for over 40 years now, and I typically discourage novices from (specially)hot street bikes. As they have no idea what they are getting into. For a fair pittance, I could easily enough give and tell lessons that may save your life, not that any of that has anything to do with this discussion. Money.
  13. Yes Steve, you are somewhat correct in that I have not kept up, yet I thought I caught a glimpse of one, yet unsure. I tend to get off in the distant runners, as in these brief posts. It seems a bit baffling to keep up with things, soo many riders, and many I do not know. Some I never heard of. Each with their own story. Seems the results indicate that Becky had a good day and took spot 80 over Carlos at 82! Mr Pye, on the Fantic at spot 95! Magnus was in there somwhere, and Glenn at spot 113, well over Donna at spot 129. Glenn will eventually make it home, wash down, sleep and relax, and at some point possibly read this jumble of comments form halfway round the globe. Honorable mention to be in the top half of the(best in the world) lot! Job well done! Still let a girl beat him!

Not likely, these tend to either work(make pressure) or not. You should be able to back the inside adjuster screw out, untill there is a slight bit of lost motion(free play), as it lever is moved in(building pressure), the clutch should release about half way in, and still off the fingers. If you have to pull it back to the bars it is dragging too much, and you are likely trying to overcompensate with the screw trying to push it more(too far) which will also cut off the return flow of the fluid to the master cylinder and make other bad things happen.

Jon, chime in on the recent Sherco thread if you get a chance! Takes some reading to follow. MC
  16. Well Clav, that pretty much sums up my experience with crank issues as well. Trying to rationalize all this , yes there is a possibility that seals could be leaking a bit, yet due to the sensitive nature of the Kiehin, I am wondering if weak reeds could not be a problem as well. This theory of worn pistons and such just does not seem to hold well with me, as the carb only meters what goes through it. Volumetric efficiency would not normally come into play, as in the case that the 125's can use the same basic setup as the larger bikes. With my timing set back a bit, the Boyesen reeds installed, I found mine would rev incredible heights even with the Dellorto. I had to go down to a 110 main to totally clear easily! Long story made short, this is an unusable rpm range that could cause major damage! And thusly, the 115 was reinstalled as a rev limiter. Leonelli claims the limit at 13,000 i belive, done that, no need! Maybe I am off base, maybe not. Jon Stoodly has a lot of experience in this area, maybe he will chime in here with some thoughts.
  17. Glenn dropped a few today and let Carlos and Becky open the advantage, although still gaining over Donna! Hang in there ! (I wish I could compete with either of them girls!) And what's up with Alexz, he is just over the top! Could have beat Fujigas this year! Are there any Xispa's there?

The piston skirt appears to have lost enough metal that it will still sound the same and knock excessively and simply cleaning the bore will not help this. In the photo of the clutch, the pack height seems excessive as the top plate seems too high. Almost as though the entire thing must be krammed back together. Take them all out and clean them, then place them on a piece of glass or other flat surface. With what I believe you are trying to describe, your excessive adjustment of the lever and need to pull back to the bar to get a release also indicates you may be forcing the springs into or near a coil-bind situation. In other words, you can only push the pressure plate out soo far in an effort to separate the plates. Hope that helps,
  19. RYP had parts for the small bikes last I checked, although not importing the others.
  20. Yes, there is packing. A metallic(steel wool) in the front and glass in the rear as I recall.

I think the clutch disks are warped, replace them all, metal and fiber! Piston a goner, what oil are you using? Can you at least obtain Yamalube 2R?

  23. Carlos pulling away today and Glenn passing Donna, and now with Becky Cook in his sights! C'mon Glenn!
  24. This is indeed the same symptom as noted in the USCG study on alcohol induced(ethanol) fuels in boats! Beware! I have not even been able to find non oxiginated fuel of late. Other than Avgas! Hopefully this "sloshing " of the tanks with some type of resistant sealer will work long term, jury still out?
