    Serow Trials

You are soooo correct, Glenn! Did I ever tell you the story about how the first eight of my nine lives were lost? I'll give you a clue, only three were on dirt bikes, and that is the reason I have not ridden on the street since mid 80's! Oh yes, I have ridden briefly a lot of the modern pigs and scortchers, latest being the '08 CBR1000RR, what a machine! I could av been dead a long time ago if we had them! Just NUTS! What a bike! In the old days, we really had to build our own, 150mph club was unique back then, now every punk with a rich dad can do 100mph wheelies! Times do change, I must admit, I love to see their faces when those kids slam the front end down from a 90mph wheelie and it goes into a speed wobble! Gets their attention pretty quick! There is some pretty wickid stuff on U tube!
  2. You would have to buy a lot of razor blades and be extremely bored Zipper!
  3. John, welcome! You shoud have plenty of help in that neck of the woods, plenty of clubs! And once bitten, you may soon want a modern bike!!!!!!! SWEET! It IS simply addicting!
  4. I respect what you are doing Michael, I will tell you that judging from my distorted eyeballs, I am not sure that all thing totally line up on my modern bike! I have two theories, 1- The Spanyards really do not care! 2- The theory that certain neglidgable offsets may actually lead to some added stability could be true. As you never really feel it when riding?????? The brain just adjusts, it seems?????

    Serow Trials

He, He!!!! No, you see all this really stems from my old age and the want/ need for some alternate and economical (fun) transportation. Actually I think that pic is of the totally new 250 version which came out in '08. The little XT 225 was similar and lighter, same basic air cooled 4T enduro for about the last eight or so years, the motor being slightly larger than the 125 used in the Scorpas, yet probably not as large as the old Honda TL 250. They seem to be about the last of the old style enduros similar to the Jap bikes of the 70's that were street legal and trailable, with a reasonable seat height that does not require a minimum of a 36" inseam on your Levi's to toutch the ground. You know, I have come to the astounding reilization that I do not require 11" ov suspention travel to ride the odd trail or go to the local store! That must just amaze some fellows somewhere, because fact is it is very difficult now days to find a basic, simple dual purpose bike that you can sit on! And the wife can actually ride if need be! I get even more baffled by the fact that most of the street legal bikes are of the 350-600 cc variety! Soo I can pull power wheelies all the way to the corner store?? I don't think I want that. Or need it! Yes, not unlike some others, I still have this fantasy of placing a simple air cooled 4T in a trials frame. Fact is it will not happen here. I shall not attempt to re-design the wheel!
  6. Did you hear that Biff? I guess our US Pro's are not serious enough, and you are an expert tightwad! Well that makes two of us!!! Is Zippy still running the Ching Shin's? I would love to see one of these "experts" ride against someone like Ryan or Geoff on worn out totally trashed Dunlops !!!!!
  7. Did I miss something here? At a glance I still did not see the official total results with everyone listed?

    Serow Trials

Well, I manageged to find me a Serow today, should make as good of a trials bike as anything once I build a new frame! Not sure how they will think of the electric start in the sections? I just think of is as my big bore Scorpa project! Yet, I need to loose the front disc to become ITSA legal! Jay, watch out! Anyone have any shocks?

    09 Monts

And that is why he is the """" """! Lookie real good!
  10. Let us know when the money (****e) hits the bank(fan), hell, we'll all spend it before it is gone!, we need a TC Paypal account!

    Black Box

Unfortunately it seems there is no pattern to this stuff, and part replacement is the simplist way to diagnose. I think the '07 unit will plug in. Only difference being in the select switch. However my gut tells me you mmay have a bad trigger coil in the stator. Who knows? It all has to work together!
  12. Forget about welding them !! The alloys are just not correct, whether 6000 series or 7000 series. I looked long and hard at pegs last year, have to agree with BS that the TC pegs are the dogs unless you go Ti. As luck would have it, I came accross a very good deal on some of the J-peg hybrids, still an ally base, yet I like the added rearset and drop. So they are still on, till a major bashing. Fact is I was somewhat surprised to see Caby on a (what appeared) old style steel sherco set at the US round, slightly modded, but fact is they still work. WELL!
  13. The high strength alloys do not take well to welding.
  14. You got some rain? Not me! Just more sweat!
  15. I don't want to get that Beater near a rock! I would have to buy it if I scratched it! No, just cannot figure that is the correct setup for Shak on the clutch, but you know, the only other exercise he gets on the weeks off is wrapping that finger around his wenie! At least I have an excuse, old age and my friend Author Itis! I spent another hour playing with it today in the back of the house, it just baffles me, I actually did some neat stuff that I have never been able to do before, it is sooo light, you just have to let it fly!!! Pop Pop Pop!! You know that Raga stuff, where he goes from the ground to the curb to the rock , then another , then another-- all on the back wheel??? I actually did that today, well , I stuffed the rock, but so what!
  16. What year bike and how crazy of a rider? Don't think it would work for Shak for sure!
  17. Let me know if you have trouble getting the tires as I am a VR dealer.
  18. It is sort of intristing, this light clutch configuration, - 2 springs! Actually rode twice last weekend on it. I may just leave it for a while to see what happens, as I do love the lightness and do not expect to be jumping any tall buildings soon! Although I must say this may well work even better with the Merc or Allison pure synth ATF, you see ATF is about 10 W on the scale to the 10-40. I think Amzoil make a Allison spec fluid as well! You see this suuff is really tough rated, even as a "fill for life" fluid in some very hard working applications! Pretty amazing really when you consider it! Not that I neccessarily recommend running ANY of the long life fluids that long! When in doubt, get it out! This applies to coolant as well, in all your vehicles. You can push the limits if you must! Not me.
  19. Although the caliper layout did change, I doubt there is any reason that a standard 8 x 1.25 allen head capscrew of the proper length would not work on that one. All they have to do is hold the caliper together. Even my local hardware store or boat shop stocks these in stainless steel! You agree Al? I no longer have one sitting here to look at. Clearance is the issue on the newer ones, Clarence! There is little!
  20. Lay off the drugs, Glenn!!!! Rum and Coke will suffice!
  21. I was wondering if you welded that----NOT!!!!!! You are sick man, you need to rest! Did you find tyres?
  22. Yes, that 75 wt will be much closer to factory spec I would think. That is what I have run in the last two years in the Maxima brand.
  23. Letting the bike sit too long will almost guarantee the clutch plates will stick together, rouhgening the steels with #80grit will help. See the other recent post re fans, fuel and such!

    Paint Work

No wonder Zippers 'ole lady does'nt want to let him out of the house, he is just a sex magnet for redneck chicks!!!!!!! He would have no problems in Oklahoma!!! Now Biff, that would get you a fat indian girl with a strap-on for sure!!!!

    06 Sherco 290

Manuals are available if you follow the stickies on this Sherco thread. Change your Sparkis and ck your fan operation. The bike will not want to hot restart if it is overheated or on poor fuel! No race gas! It may still be trying to burn out excess oil from the exhaust. If you do not run it hadr, 80 or even 100:1 can be done with no probs on good oil!
