  1. There are easily ex-dealer collections still around. There are private collections over here with that many or more. For a very long time the bikes could be picked up for almost nothing. Heck, they still can be found for prices that would make the average Bultaco Brit choke. Doesn't surprise me.
  2. Here's what it looked like originally. It was quite bad. And quite loud. Once I got it back together I cut the header pipe from the muffler and added the rubber joint. This made it a bit easier to remove the exhaust... And I added a $10 JC Whitney muffler on the end. Which made it a little better but still not ideal. I want to replace the header pipe at some point. This is an early M92 so I think it was was chrome with a rubber joint.
  3. Here's what I did. Sammy Miller exhaust
  4. Really? Anyone who has the balls to incorporate ANY Hodaka parts should be included.
  5. I think I used an impact wrench on the allen head bolt to get it loose. I think that you can also use a really long screwdriver to help hold the damper rod. I used a regular seal puller. If they are extra corroded I'm sure it will be more challenging. I had one set of forks which were just horrid but I don't recall the seals being any problem.
  6. I'd love to get to some of the other Western trials. Colorado and Wyoming. For now I'll have to settle for Donner.
  7. Almost looks like a special effect.
  8. Didn't have any room or a good class to ride it in so I passed. Glad it went to a good home.
  9. Thad's a pretty good rider. And that 123 is the tits. Tough combo.
  10. Did you pull that out of somewhere like Albany or something? There was one like that for sale for a long time for $600-800.
  11. You must have done a lot of work since the last time I saw the TY.
  12. Stock TYs are ridiculously quiet. I can't imagine a well sorted one being any quieter. Run without a muffler for a bit, put it back on and appreciate the silence.
  13. One guy rolled the boulder that was knocked loose. Was that a course marshall? Shouldn't they have left it?
  14. av gas works and so does racing gas. just way more expensive and not quite as accessible for everyone.
  15. Are you saying 400 lbs is a bit much for a trials bike? The fuel injection might be nice. Strip off the headlight, lighter exhaust, alloy rims, maybe ditch the pillion pad, new chromoly frame, aluminum handlebars, aluminum tank, and perhaps take off the turn signals and you could get it down to 300 lbs...
  16. There are multiple threads on this site and others about sealing tanks. Internet wisdom says Caswells (the only tank of mine that doesn't leak has this) over other brands. I think Racing gas may not have ethanol.
  17. Has anyone dealt with Jam Sports? I was looking for some Gaerne boots and they had pretty good prices.
  18. Don't ask where I got this idea but how would a trials bike do at one of the big hillclimbs like the Widowmaker? Usually it's some super-horsepower nitromethane bike that makes a lot of noise and spins the rear tire incessantly. How would a trials bike do on a hill like that?
  19. It's 'glass so make sure it's sealed before putting gas in it.
  20. You know, it's a two-stroke. You shouldn't be putting oil in the motor, it goes in the gas.
  21. When AMA and AHRMA split, AHRMA already has alternative insurance lined up. AMA isn't the only way to get that kind of coverage. You don't actually need AMA membership unless you compete at the National AHRMA events (this applies to Dirt only). So it will actually be cheaper to compete with AHRMA in the future (after April 30th) than it was before. <this post should probably be moved to USA trials or something>
