  4. Rotax clutches have a habit of sticking if they have been standing for a while. Its easy enough to free them off, ride it with the clutch lever in change up through the gears and it should free off by the time you get to 5th/6th. Martin
  5. Just spotted this on eBay, may be a perfectly plausible reason for someone breaking a 2007 Rev 3 ........ just seems a bit odd though !! Ebay link Martin
  6. I know a guy who spotted an advert in the local free paper for a Yamaha IT 250 Enduro. It had been left without its motor for around 20 years, outside in a garden. When he went to look at it, a tree had grown through the centre of the frame.........which they chopped down when he bought it !!!
  7. Have you checked your coolant levels.....might be a head gasket problem.

  9. Hi Stefano Where in the UK is the bike ?? Try contacting Rob Paulton at RPM motorcycles in Sheffield, he travels to Milano a lot....also speaks Italiano. His contact details are 0044 1909 564125 or email sales@rpmmotorcycles.co.uk Alternatively, I use a transport firm that travels from Bristol (South West UK) to Milan (Linate area) and are happy to carry a complete bike....price is around
  10. To explain this video for all those TC folk from outside the UK....this is an extract from a BBC TV kids programme back in the 1970's called "Blue Peter" where the presenters John Noakes and Peter Purves attempeted to have a go at anything....usually with disasterous results. Peter Purves's contribution to Trials was his commentary on the BBC show kickstart.....this however is Mr Noakes attempt !!!!!! I reckon Dave Taylor would have stood a better chance of teaching Shep to ride Martin
  11. Hi Looking at the back of your tail pipe. The front triangular section contains a baffle tube and packing. The larger square main section contains 2 baffle plates, one with a hole in the top the other with a hole in the bottom. These are pop rivetted in, and have a habit of breaking loose. If you shake your tailpipe and it rattles....open heart surgery will be required in this area, if not leave well alone. I have found that running a hot air gun through the tailpipe for 15 minutes (in a well ventilated area) will de coke it better than cutting and rewelding as there is a negligable amount of packing in the pipe. Good luck Martin
  12. A friend of mine visited a very old established motorcycle dealership in the Birmingham area about 3 years ago. He was given the run of the place, and found loads of new Mickmar trials engines lying around in their basement......most of which had been robbed of the Bultaco components the engine used.
  13. Found this while looking around on a MX forum Can anyone remember anything about George Silk's trials bike, anyone ever seen one and any idea who is riding it in the video. Cheers Martin
  14. Aren't there 2 !!!!!.............Scorpa & Montesa ? 3 if you count, a Beta Alp with a Suzuki engine as a trials bike
  15. Hi All Just a question to satisfy my curiosity.......how come, with all the current debate over pre65 Scottish eligibility, can this bike get an entry with F registration (Aug 67 - Jul 68) ?????? Only interested Martin
  16. I vote the other way....348 with a 349 frame. Its a 348 front end (349 front wheel had a conical hub) 348 Motor (349 engine cases were different) 348 Exhaust system (349 large back box) 349 Frame (348 had a rear frame loop and frame tubes/wire mesh instead of a bolt on sump shield) Hope this helps Martin
  17. I think you will find the "New York Man" story is a bit of an urban myth amoungst the Classic Car world, here is a more credible version of the legend, The other side of the story! Cheers Martin
  18. THE BARN A New York man retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 yrs.; the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway - so, nobody made an offer on the place. The NY guy bought it at just over half of the property's worth; moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn - curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator and a couple of grinders - and cut thru the welds. What was in the barn? Click here
  19. Anyone interested in a new rear mudguard for their RTL click here .............but check your finances first Martin

Hi Rockaria If you would like to pm me through your details some time before next February I might be able to fix you up. There were 2 for sale at an Italian autojumble I went to last month, dont think either sold....so would be possible that they may turn up at the same event in February. So at what stage is the Aprila Jumbo hybrid then Mr Seales ?? Martin
  21. Found these photos of an MZ trials while looking around on the net. I remember a story from a few years back about an East German rider turning up at the SSDT, just after the Berlin Wall came down, with a home brewed MZ effort....not sure if this is the same one ???? Martin
  22. Just thought I would add a statistic to this debate from the other side of the fence. My father in law has 2 BP filling stations, his profit on selling a litre of fuel is 0.83p .........makes you wonder why independant retailers bother when a fuel delivery costs in excess of
  23. Lee.........I would have thought you could have spotted this one !!!! Looking at the wheels, forks and frames I reckon its from a Fantic 125/200. Cheers Martin
  24. Got one of these already, thats a bit of a project. Looks like a nice bike, though I think there are more than 2 of them in the UK.....lots of them at an autojumble I went to in Italy at the weekend ! Cheers Martin
  25. Take your exhaust outside on a hard paved surface. Use a hot air gun (paint stripper) and set it up so it blows hot air through the exhaust, leave it set up and running and after about 5 minutes you will notice all of the carbon starts to burn off. Dont leave it running too long, as it will eventually catch fire to the carbon and act like a flame thrower.....also will take as long to cool down afterwards I have found this works great on non-repackable steel silencers. Good luck Martin
