  1. Only complaints I've seen have been from non-riders and old fogey's. It's the British Championship not a bloody club trial!
  2. Just bought some for the nipper's Gasser. They were easy to fit, look good, and don't get clogged up with crud as much as the standard ones. Recomended based on one weeks use....
  3. I like this. Must try it tomorrow. Peak District is full of 'em....
  4. I voted for 'Old School'. The race is for TV its should stay in, but the obstacles in the race should be tougher. Tie breaks should be decided in a timed run off through a given section.
  5. Gawd, it gets worse... Can't see Bou and Co swallowing this either. Why oh why don't they just let all of them ride all section and the best man win. Its pathetic

    Ymsa

The little fella wants to do the YMSA... Yet another over-subscribed date in the Calendar. Have you seen how many events are on in the East Midland Centre that day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And YMSA isn't ACU affiliated.

    Ymsa

I've been looking on the YMSA website for any news regarding this coming Sunday's event at Dudwood Farm but it doesn't appear to have been updated recently. Does anybody know if the trial is still on cos the snow in this neck of the woods is still quite deep and it is very icy?????
  8. That'll been us then.... And one is definately Mrs Shirt (Jnr)...
  9. Just been looking at the East Midland Calendar for 2010... Even accounting for the distances covered within the centre, it strikes me that there are simply too many club trials almost every Sunday. Here are a few examples: 31 Jan - Pegasus, Cheadle, North Derbys, East Coast, S&H. 7 Feb - Lincoln, Manny Maun, Loughboro' 14 March - Pegasus, Pathfinders, S****horpe, S&H 4 April - Sutton Falcons, Loghboro', East Coast, S****horpe 11 April - Manny Maun, Cheadle, S&H 23 May - Pegasus, S&H, North Derbys Ignoring possible competition from clubs in South & East Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and YMSA, IMHO the Centre has lost the plot completely.
  10. Staffordshire Moorlands run some really good trials too and they do a summer series on Saturday evenings. Venues around Leek -(Manor Steps & Tittesworth Farm. Details are usually on Macc Trials Website.
  11. My son has had a Gas Gas 125 Pro for 2 years and he wants to keep it for a third. Its a myth that Gassers build quality is poor. Trials machines get a lot of hammer and need regular maintenance whatever the manufaturer. Anyway, when we had a Beta it spent more time back at the dealers with dodgy electrics, which we have never ever had with the Gasser. Gas Gas every time for us.

    Gas Gas Kickstart

Worked a treat, never even bothered with the puller. As a matter of interest, the clutch problem was immediately diagnosed: the central allen screw in the bowels of the clutch basket had worked loose and was fouling on the clutch actuating piston thingy preventing full travel at the lever end (hence the knocking). So what turned out to be a two hour job on Monday night turned into a 5 minute job on Tuesday night. Cheers.

    Gas Gas Kickstart

Just nipped down to Machine Mart and bought one of the cheapo ones. Looks as though it will do the trick. I'll let you know tomorrow! If that doesn't work I'll try Manx2days suggestion...Cheesr chaps.
  14. You know when you think it will only take five minutes....Had a bit of a problem with the clutch on my 09 250 Raga at the weekend It disengages but the lever is not coming fully back to the bars before it stops. I can hear a knock coming from the clutch case each time the lever reaches the stop, so I decided to whip the clutch out last night to have a look. My god, how hard can it be to remove a kickstart off the shaft (bearing in mind its been off two or three times in the last 6 months). I simply can't get it to shift and I'm frightened to death of prising it off what with magnesium casings and all. Any one got any ideas???
  15. 16. Trying to be different from conventional design does not always work. That petrol tank and filler looks naff and prone to damage from the average 'Joe'. Sorry, not impressed at all. And the colours look naff too!

    Steve Peat

Steve Peat will be on 'Look North' in the BBC Yorkshire region tonight between 6:30 and 7:00pm
  18. What the hells that got to do with it. Have you seen me ride? I need a light bike 'cos I,m always falling off (see pic). On a serious note, I was at the A&B national at the weekend and there were plenty of natural 'mini scottish' gullies. It was a joke to see leading riders (who apparently aspire to great things at world level) stopping, propping themselves up against the nearest available boulder with their feet at 90 degrees to the footpegs, leaning on banks with their legs and arms and then getting cleans! Frankly its taking the p*** and is NOT A TEST OF SKILL!!!!!!! If the rule had been no stop, the leading riders scores would have been treble.
  19. You could sort it all out in one fell swoop by putting a minimum weight limit on the bikes of 100kg at WTC level (max capacity 350cc), with compulsory seat and 10 litre fuel tank. No need for exotic materials.... (death of titty pipes that cost an arm and a leg and ding when they see their first rock)Try hopping one of them about all day!!!!
  20. Plenty of onlookers witnessed at least one fast rider miss section 20 on the first lap. I would hope a bit of constructive criticism should improve things for next year for what was generally accepted (me included) as an excellent, well organised event.
  21. Went to watch/help out and all the lads & girls seemed well up for it. Good to see the lad with the broken footrest finish - he did the entire second lap on one footpeg. Local knowledge obviously influenced the results, but I can't see how you can get best time by missing a section...and not get excluded. Good trial despite my whinge and hope they run it next year.
  22. I agree, Fuji's crash had nothing to do with the rules. When you look at the riders at world level they are all so proficient doing a "little alignment" that its a waste of time marking sections with tight 180 degree turns. All the marks I saw dropped were either crashing 5's or slack dabs. The other thing I noticed is that virtually every section had (horendous to me) vertical drop-offs which every one pi***d. It seems to me that to take marks off Bou you are going to have to seriously hurt him in the process!!
  23. The S&H club trial being run at Bracken Rocks on 15th of this month will be set out to cater for Adult Clubmen, Novices & Beginners and Youth Classes A,B & C. Adult Experts & Inters are more than welcome but don't expect to drop more than a handful of marks on the hard route. Bracken Rocks can be an unforgiving place for those of less ability and given the feedback from the last event held there in January, I'll try and make it a decent day out for every one. If you read this please pass the word around... Thanks.
  24. When TMX came out in the late 70's I bought the first copy (and I think its still in my mum's loft). At the time it was a revelation! But things move on and its catering for such a limited market that it can't possibly compete with the internet. I wouldn't have thought it would be too difficult to regurgitate some of the decent articles from the 70's, 80's and 90's. And there must be someone out there who can help with some basic bike prep/re-build tips (lots of photo's & few words always works for me). If TMX is to survive it has to provide what a lap-top can't... Several hours of half decent reading material to take to the loo....
  25. [Thats correct, my new in May Raga 250 says 08 on the gold plate and key ring. So does mine... But back to the thread: My 250 is so easy to ride, but I have had lots of problems getting it to run OK at tick-over and its still not right, but it carburates beutifully through the rest of the rev range. I have heard that the Keihin carb can be a bit fickle but this is taking the p**s. Titty pipe is very thin and already looks very 2nd hand (i.e dinged on the bottom bend), but rest of bike quality is fine.
