Hi Paul, just had a look at milages. Calais - Ventoux 470m. Bilbao - Ventoux 593m Enjoy the skiing, where are you going ?- What Is The 'modern Position' That Some Twinshocks Are Mod'd For?
Hi Tony, never heard of the centre of front wheel spindle to centre of footrest dimension before. Had to go straight out and check the bike I like the handling of, exactly 39". Good post.(wheelbase 53")- What Is The 'modern Position' That Some Twinshocks Are Mod'd For?
With wider footrest you also get a greater degree of leverage, on small rests your foot could only pivot. I personally have "modernised" the position for comfort, wouldn't be surprised if the centre of gravity is much the same for a smaller rider in the original position, versus a taller rider in more modern position.- What Is The 'modern Position' That Some Twinshocks Are Mod'd For?
Conventional / perceived wisdom of the day, not necessarily accurate.- What Is The 'modern Position' That Some Twinshocks Are Mod'd For?
83 frame, footrest as you say back and down. Brake pedal moved to allow swinging arm to drop for longer shocks. Paioli forks. Handlebars 6", just a funny angle.- What Is The 'modern Position' That Some Twinshocks Are Mod'd For?
Sent you a picture of "modern" swm.- Ventoux / Robregordo 2015
Hi Hamish, good speaking to you. What are the requirements for Ventoux, road registered, lights, brake lights. Pre 65, twin shock ? Enjoy the weekend. Ross- Are Betors Better.
Get a pair of Piaoli's, still 35mm and better than betor or marzocci, in my opinion. See your entered in the Pre80 next weekend, would you still be able to do that ?- Are Betors Better.
Not legal then in most trials as far as I'm aware. 38mm are only allowed if originally fitted, otherwise 35mm.- Are Betors Better.
Machining what, thought they were a straight swap ? You also need the mudguard brace, a new mudguard, and possible brake tie. Check the length, as Patrik pointed out, betors vary. Having said all that, I would also consider the various inserts you can get from HFS suspension etc.- Montesa 248 Coil Relocation.
Check colour of failed plug, over rich mixture will kill a plug very quickly.- Front & Rear Axle Parts Assembly Order Tl320'80
If all was as standard it's not difficult to sort out. Rear, put axle in from brake side, then spacer with flat cut into it (so it can go all way forward and not foul brake anchor slot) through brake plate, hub, then top hat spacer which sits against bearing, then long alloy spacer, through swinging arm again. Front only has one spacer from memory.- Pilot Jet...to Go Big Or Small, And Which Is Which? It's All So Confusing!

You should change the crankshaft pinion http://www.trialsbits.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=85_182_257&products_id=689 Re gearing, are you running 520 or 428 ? Personally I wouldn't worry to much about the chain touching the swinging arm, it will wear a couple of small grooves and stop.- C15 B40 Shock Length
Interesting, running rear shocks really soft so think might have been through "sweet spot" anyway. Easy to change back if it seems a negative move. Also be interested to see what it does to the steering, equivalent to 0.5 to 1 degree pulled in approx.- C15 B40 Shock Length
Thanks for the info as coincidentally, I have just had extensions made for rockshocks. Now making them 380mm, but as you say with a 50lbs spring there is a good 45 - 50mm sag. Easy to revert to original lengthy if necessary.- C15 B40 Shock Length
