2 reasons, will wreck bearings if your not carefull, and when you wash the bike by hand you notice potential problems like loose spokes etc.

Maybe just unlucky, a friend uses them and rates as said. We ride mostly rocks here.

If it was running ok before the repair it will almost certainly be something that you have done, go through wiring again again.

Check / change gearbox oil, check coolant level, check fan comes on/off.
Brake pads, and fluid levels.
Wheel bearings.
Swinging arm / suspension bearings.
Spokes.
Don't wash with a pressure washer.
Wear sunscreen.

Is Vee Rubber available, probably good enough for these applications.

My friendly machine shop has plastic (which I use for the chain tensioner blocks) could machine as an interference fit. I personally think it looks better.

You could, at a push make up a "dummy" shroud top ?

Rocks, a long Rocky path, about 2 feet wide and 20 feet long. No spaces in between. When you master it one way do it in reverse, then in a different gear.

The rust also wears the heel of the points very quickly so timing will be out, if the points are opening at all.

Sounds like fuel starvation, check tank venting, fuel tap clear, fuel filter clear, carb clear.
Float level next if that doesn't fix it.
