  1. *****ENTRIES UPDATE***** For those of you who have not yet sent in your completed entry form, cheque and 2 self addressed labels yet, DO IT TODAY!!! Despite only being open since Friday (13th March) the solo class is nearly full. If you would like a ride i'd advise you to get your entry form sent NOW to avoid disappointment!!! For all you sidecar competitors, you don't have much of a hurry but make sure you get them in before the 17th April!!! Numbers will be sent to all those lucky enough to get a ride once the entries have officially closed (17th April). Hope to see you in August and keep those feet up!
  2. I am a memeber of the Peveril MCC, here on the Isle of Man. The club used to be Peveril MC & LCC but as far as i know have dropped the LCC for good. I could be mistaken but they are known more by Peveril MCC.
  3. Just a quick one to let you all know that the entries are now officially open for this years trial. They are available for download from www.manx2day.com. They WILL close 17th April or when full.
  4. I used to swear by Hebo but fancied a changed. I have these XC-ting boots. Very good boots and extremely durable. The waterproofing didn't last long, like most boots but Seal Skinz work a dream! (although i've actually worn a hole in the heal of one pair!) http://www.xctingdirect.com/product/7511ff...00fdac7fb0.aspx These ones are cheaper... http://www.xctingdirect.com/product/479ebf...122c791048.aspx Would certainly buy another pair.
  5. I've had a couple of good crashes! A few years ago now at a local club trial i ended up on my bike in a bog! After the pre-trial briefing we were making our way to the first section, i started to pass everyone down one side. I didnt know that there was a bog coming my way, hit the bog, front wheel dug in and i went down. No injuries but certinly got a few laughs from everyone else! Should've been on camera,
  6. Morning, The entries for the 2009 Manx 2 Day Trial will open on Friday 13th March (unlucky for some) and will close on Friday 17th April or when full. If you rode the trial last year, you should expect an entry form through your door around the 13th March but, if you have not ridden this fantastic trial it is simple to get hold of an entry form. Entry forms and regs will be available for download from our website, www.manx2day.com, from 13th March. Alternatively you can email us at manx2daytrial@hotmail.com, providing us with your postal address and the route you would like to ride. We are on Facebook, so if you haven't joined our group follow this link... Manx 2 Day Facebook Group ...We update this and our website as much as possible so you will be able to see any updates regarding the trial as soon as they materialise. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you in August. The sun has been ordered! Thanks Gareth
  7. Also with regards to the breather pipe for the gear box, if it is low near the sump then it can suck in water when going through rivers. I feed mine up to the top of the rear shock so it is out of the way.
  8. I'd give it a run then change the oil tombo! Last time i had trouble with water gettin into my gearbox, it was a similar thing with the seals, my dealer told me a trick which can be done when changing the oil. If it's milky, warm the bike, dump the oil, put about 200-300ml of petrol in the gearbox, run the bike through the gears a couple of times, dump the petrol. The petrol should eradicate any water which was left in there and then you can just fill it back up with gearbox oil! Worked everytime for me!
  9. I'm the same as jsygasgas, i use a fiat doblo. It's a pretty standard model but still pretty nippy. I can fit my 07 Gas Gas in very nicely on the diagnal. Front wheel to the left front corner back wheel to the back right corner. Still has room for tool box, box of spares, stand, spare wheel(s), boots and other things. Only thing is, can't figure out how to fit 2 in the back. Pictures of that would be good!!!
  10. This isn't Dougies first outing on british tv. It might not of been mainstream but it was Sky 1 a good while back. He was on the rubbish motoring programme called "vroom vroom". He was trying to teach some girl how to ride the 4rt. Was on for a similar time but indeed good to see trials on tv! I would try and find a link for the clip but can't access youtube at work!
  11. As a rider and an occasional observer i'd say that the original scenario would be a 1. IMO if the offending foot is planted on the ground and moves a small distance while always in contact with the ground it is one dab, however it is sometimes very hard to call if you don't have a good sight of the foot. If the foot leaves the ground momentarily and is repositioned then it will be a 2 and so on. I'm sure there will be plenty of different opinions on this, especially with the new rules in place.
  12. As far as i know, if you want to fit a carbon exhaust you need the separate middle box to do that. If you have a sealed middle box and silencer then you will have to get a middle box and the carbon silencer separately which will cost a bit more! The middle boxes should be the same on all models.
  13. I haven't ridden under the new rules yet but will be on sunday at a local club trial. I'm not too sure how it's gonna turn out, i'm a bit sceptical. I've been brought up riding no stop and have never had the need to hop or anything like that, maybe i should start to practice that a bit! Hopefully the sections will be set out in a way that will allow us to ride no stop as they have been for as long as i have ridden, but i'm always up for a challenge so bring it on!!
  14. A friend of mine started trials last year, he has ridden motorbikes (a loon on a supermoto) for a long time and push bike trials too and was very good at that. He found an '05 300 GG for sale and got it. Throughout the year he found it a bit of a handful so he has downgraded to an '09 250 and finds it much more usable. He is much happier on the smaller bike. For getting back into it i'd recommend a 250 but if a 300 is the only availble for now then downgrading the barrel etc wouldn't be a problem.

    Gas Gas?

Gas Gas are brilliant bikes. Wouldn't change to another. All bikes need looking after well so it depends on how motivated you are to keep it tip top. Personally, i really enjoy working on my bike, tinkering, washing etc etc. When you strip it for a wash or whatever and put it back together and it kicks first time it's very satisfying. Keep on top of things and the Gas Gas will be an excellent bike to you!
  16. Looked good from a distatnce, just like the Airoh he has worn for the past few years. But up close, not really my kinda lid!!
  17. Always gone through Bennetts. Very good and resonably cheap.
  18. Motul off road chain lube. After i wash my bike i click it into top gear and spin all the water off then put chain lube on. Worked fine for me, never had a chain break. I've tried wd40 but it does dry very very quickly and doesn't help the chain when it dries so would recommend the motul lube.
  19. Apart from the entrance of the riders the night was brilliant. Excellent riding from all of them. Browny rode exceptionally well considering his lack of indoor experience. Dougie was pulling some excellent rides out of the hat too, shame he ended fourth but a well deserved fourth at that! The big screen was good, could of worked the scores and time better but everyone learns from their mistakes. I didn't really look at the screen that much but i did appreciated it, especially when they ride the sections on the other side of the arena. I haven't seen the Eurosport coverage yet but will do this week, by all accounts it was good so i'm looking forward to the rest of the season. It's excellent that we are gettin live coverage of our sport now, it's about time!!
  20. Do you have a floating disc on the front? Thay can rattle sometimes. Start the bike up and hold the disc see if that stops it. Other than that any obvious parts that can rattle on tickover, just grab them and see if the rattling stops. ie. pegs, levers, kickstart, stand etc etc.
  21. I'm hoping that Doug puts up one hell of a fight to keep the others on their toes. Hope Browny gets on top of the Sherco well too, looking forward to seeing it all though. My prediction:- 1. Bou 2. Raga 3. Cabestany
  22. DP. Never had any problems always used them. Brilliant!
  23. Now that Octagon aren't promoting the series anymore, hopefully it will get more coverage and the live broadcast is promising. If Sheffield goes well, i'm sure Eurosport will do it for the other rounds. I'm gonna get it recorded for when i'm back from watching it properly live!!! So who is going? I've heard it's pretty full!

    Kick Start

I know what you mean by that! I had similar trouble. You have to get the right tension on the spring by turning it. It was very difficult from what i remember and very annoying! I can't remember exactly how many turns etc but i'm sure someone will be able to help on that front. I had the gearbox back together about 5 times, each time realising that there wasn't any "spring" on the spring so had to dismantle and have another go! Took me a good few hours but got there. Good Luck!!
  25. I have always been recommended 100ml per every 5 litres (20ml of oil per litre) motul 710. This has been discussed many a time on here! All sorts of different answers!
