  1. Hi, I'm in eastern WA, I'll send you a PM about local stuff. I have a beat up 199A that I ride occasionally. I didn't ride Trials in the old days, I raced Pursangs. I'd say longer shocks and moving foot pegs are of vital importance. Two things I regret about the way I did mine are, I also cut the rear loop off mine as it hit directly on my tail bone when descending. 1) the footpeg kit I used didn't use standard Trials pegs, although they look the same to the eye, so instead of having a world of pegs to choose from, I have to repair the cheap steel pegs or modify Trials pegs to fit. 2) I used NJB shocks, which are OK, but I feel like the Bultaco geometry would benefit from more expensive shocks, like Rock Shocks.
  2. I'm probably looking right past it, but I don't see that thread. Do you have a link?
  3. I once had a failing secondary coil behave similarly, it still showed spark at the spark plug.
  4. Where can you get Michelin tube type tires? I understood them to be discontinued.

    Tyres

I'm about to replace my first D803GP with another one, it's mounted on an older Morad rim with the rubber band seal. I'm a heavier rider on a heavier bike running as low as 3psi, and it's never lost pressure. When mounting tires I lube them with tire mounting lube (oddly enough) and inflate them to 40psi or so to seat them on the rim.

    Tyres

Can you describe the failures you've seen? Are you talking sidewall, tread, coming off the rim?

    Tyres

Here in the USA they've been gone for several years.
  8. And splitting up their product line would help keep it that way
  9. some aftermarket sprockets use a washer to space out the sprocket, the original one had a shoulder on the sprocket.
  10. Downhill bicycle helmets (MTB) have the visibility and face protection.
  11. I was just going to post that that's what happened to me on an older Gas Gas. It was frustrating because I couldn't see that the fan was turning slowly, everything seemed to be working normally until it overheated.
  12. I've never heard anyone say "This Michelin works almost as good as a Dunlop", but I've heard that statement reversed many times. What does that tell you?

    Bar Risers

I wonder if a riser setup like that could be used, with lower bars, to move the bars forward rather than up. It seems that it might give the rider a bit more room and use lower bars which are much easier to find than the old high rise bend bars. Anyone tried it?
  14. The video reminded me of this trial that I marshaled a few years ago. You'll have to endure about a minute and a half of modern bikes before the Bultaco appears, sorry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cYuAgLczi4g
  15. That sounds incredibly simple, and effective. I wonder why all the old piston port bikes don't use it. Do you have more details?

    Inner Tube

What inner tube is recommended for rear fitment with a radial tire? I used to get a Michelin tube marked as Special Trials 4.00R18, but I can't find them anymore.
  17. Can you cite, or better yet link to, the source for this?
  18. Well maybe except for Marzocchi, who supplied the forks, as I believe the have also closed.

    Timing

I run a stock A model flywheel on my stock C model engine. I like the way it runs (peppy) and it requires some extremely erratic behavior on my part to make it stall.
  20. If you don't want to change sprockets you may need this http://www.trialsbits.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1137
  21. Pretty quiet here. Here's one of my Canadian friends, Jay, on his dads old 4 speed.
  22. Don't make the mistake of assuming that new parts can't fail. Good luck.
  23. I found one more. That's a forty year old jersey by the way.
