  1. Don't omit the head steady. Did it have one? The top tube does look a little arched. Some rise you got on those handlebars! Wayne...
  2. The Later Bultaco's had tubes on their breathers (Both Ignition side and Primary) and these were routed into the gap between the 1st two fins on the cylinder. Ending up at the back. My Cota 330 has a breather for the transmission which was piped I seem to recall into the top frame tube. Wayne...
  3. Ross. The breathers help reduce condensation buildup, I personally wouldnt block them up. Wayne....
  4. I quite like the sound of that in a way, but not so sure about the changing bike one. One wonders that in twenty years time will the current and past mono's have such a classic status as the original twinshocks have now? It used to be that some people bought twinshocks as a very cheap way into the sport, now of course it's much cheaper to buy even a 4-5 year old "modern(ish)" bike. I'm not even sure such a hybrid as pictured would have such an advantage certainly not in my hands anyway! Wayne....
  5. I know nothing about mono's! Good enough? Wayne...
  6. Seems like a trait of his? So is not leaving feedback Wayne...
  7. I think this is where some of the difference in perceived value comes from. These bikes are not just seen as Trials bikes here in Europe, but also quite highly regarded classics. I recall some recent bemusement over what a very rough but complete Model 10 Barn find made on UK ebay. Was it 3k+? Well thats one scarce model and most probably resides back in Spain again now. Well Restored it's worth what? More than I could probably afford for sure! Wayne....
  8. It refers to the battlefields of Flanders. The Great War. Wayne....

    Ossa

They wobble and fall off. Maybe the site is a work in progress I'd still like to see what the mystery 280 TRI looks like, guess it's not too long til it's unveiling now. Wayne...

    Ossa

Annoying little website eh! Seems the rumoured 280 TRI is all wrapped up til the Milan show. Not a picture or even a tease in sight! Wayne.....
  11. That asking price works out at about 700 GBP. I know each market is different, but I would not consider that a bad price especially as the bike looks to be just about all there and would possibly take very little to restore. In Spain well restored it could be worth much much more. Ask him to take the rear tire off hehe... That's out of place! Wayne...
  12. I was led to believe that it was US Legislation that drove the manufacturers to change. My Moto Morini's 1955 and 1980 are both RHS gearchange, as well as a few of my Bultaco's and my Brit Bikes. The Morini's and the Bultacos are also LHS Kickers. I personally dont believe there is any benefit in either system, somehow I seem to be able to jump on any of the bikes and use it no matter what side the gearchange is on, not sure how that works though! Wayne....

    Ossa

Maybe! Re the previous Holdens though I spent half my life working 200 yards down the road from their old place. Can't even remember exactly what the building is used for now. Sheetmetal shop I think. Wayne....
  14. The "Tree Hugger" Bonus was fun! Spanish bikes out in force too! Was that our friend Jose on the 330 earlier in the video? Wayne...
  15. John I think I posted a vid of this guys work on the FaceAche Bultaco group some months ago. Have to go look and grab the link again. Wayne....
  16. Dave's playing with horses! Wayne...
  17. Gone Bust? Indeed one of the lows of my life! That leads to another interesting thing to ponder, what would they have come up with to counter the inroads made by Fantic, Honda etc at the time and subsequent years if they had the money and resources to survive. Same question could be posed for Ossa. Wayne....
  18. 242 was Electronic? Damn the 330 must of missed having it by a mere whisker! Wayne....
  19. Not easy to predict the outcome of these hypothetical questions I think? I think trials has gone the way of many many other sports (if not all) and put it down in part to small step change evolution of the sports, huge increases in fitness at the top levels and general professionalism whether it be a ball sport, athletics, motor sport or anything else. Would Ali had been able to beat a top heavyweight boxer today? or James Hunt Lewis Hamilton in F1 etc etc etc. Probably not but Bernie was still a hero of mine of the time, well along with Vesty. Lejeune too but shame about the Honda bit! <runs/ducks> Wayne...
  20. Nasty! It might tighten up on the rivets again. You could also try some High Strength retainer (Loctite 603 or 640 The green stuff!) to lock it up again. This stuff is really the dogs doodahs especially if you can get it to pull into the joint with a little heat. Wayne...
  21. Glad you're sorted. At least along the way you got the wiring tidied up/Simplified? Never had a Femsa HT Coil fail (yet!) LT yes. Wayne....
  22. On a points system its much the same, the kill switch needs to basically short the LT to ground. Just like the points being closed. Wayne...
  23. Babelfish has a go at translating. Link
  24. Adam He did say "I think" He's not going to remember every detail obviously just like I can't. But it's good that he has fond memories of it too. One idea could be for clubs to become interested in running this sort of thing at regional shows etc, it's certainly been done in the past. I do think the public at large probably dont realise that our bikes not not quite like noisy MX bikes and anything that dispells certain stereotyping is good. Wayne....
