Made some crude footrest hangers and mounted by the usual method, drill and tap upper hole and welded a nut inside frame on bottom rather than a threaded rod right through. These are temporary to experiment with position before I commit to weld on mounts. Yes I've put them well back and that may attract some critisism but I am tall and heavy with chicken legs so if I lean forward the front end won't be light. Footrests are from an enduro bike.

I have a 74 model 250A serial number 434-011251 and I need the shop manual for it. That's the downside. Now the good side is that I also have a 1975 B model shop manual if anybody needs one.? Maybe we can trade? I have been using the info from the B model shop manual to do all a the tune up and work on the ignition (Magneto and Points/condenser) up to a point. I checked out the schematic for the B model and it seems to have a couple of things different about it that I can't find or explain on my A model. #1 There is NO DIODE in my wiring harness now. ( at least I can't find one) I don't know if it has been removed, or it never had one? Norm…

I just picked-up a really nice 1978 TY250E. It's in great cosmetic condition and it starts easily, idles well and has a ton of compression. However, for a 250cc 2-stroke trials bike it seems to be a bit lacking in low end power. I figured that a bike would loop itself in first gear if it was given full gas and a good pull on the bars. On my bike - it takes a lot of effort to get the wheel just a foot off the ground. Part of this is poor rider technique, but I have other 2 stroke bikes and when they are in the power band - they rev-up like crazy! I posted a couple of videos below so you can see what I mean. It might be my expectations are too high for a bike with a h…

I am thinking of making a new front exhaust pipe for a Yamaha TY 175 but have variously read that lengthening/shortening the front pipe on a TY 175 brings about a performance improvement but which is right longer or shorter, what difference would either option give?

How do I get the clutch arm out? I can only turn the adjuster so far then it stops. I’m assuming it is still engaged in the arms shaft. Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone tell me where the wiring harness boot is positioned on a 74' TY 250? I do not remember but it looks like it would be best with the big side inserted into the frame right under the fuel tank to protect the wiring. Anywhere else does not make sense. Thanks

Hi guys back again for some more advice on my TY175 I am rebuilding the engine and wondering whether I should fit an oversized piston. The original problem was a very noisy Rattalee engine coupled with loss of power. The writing on the piston is clear in the picture any advice would be most welcome?
