Hello, I've owed a modern trials bike for a few years now, but just recently got bitten by the "Twin Shock" bug. I bought a '76 TY175, and the stock tank is dented and has a lot of rust inside, so I was thinking about purchasing a fiberglass tank to replace it with. I've seen the tank/seat unit that Sammy Miller sells, but I was wanting something a little different. So, my question is; can anyone tell me if the tank/seat unit that Yamaha-Majesty.com sells to fit the Mini Majesty and 200 Majesty frames, will fit a production model frame? I have the tools and abilty to modify the frame if need be. Thanks, Gary

I have a Majesty 200 and want to improve the forks and fork action! I'm thinking about fitting a Pinky front end (with better forks) and a front disc brake. I already have a set of 175 yokes, which have been milled out to accept the larger diameter TY Mono stanchions Is that not really in the spirit of Twinshock (I see plenty of TLR's with a front disc!!) Any pitfalls, will I be excluded from the Twinshock classes? Would the forks from a TY250 Twinshock be a better bet than the 175 forks already fitted?? Questions.......................??? Alternatively is there anyone who could tune the 175 forks, to improve the spring rate and damping (not frightened to spend a b…

What bars do you use? Im 6 foot 6 and just got my TY all together and even got an MOT on it (not that im doing any mileage on it). Anyway Im finding it a bit low in the bar region, even after I put some Renthal enduro High bars in it. Now I have a GasGas EC300 and a Kawasaki KDX220R, obviously you can chop and change clamps etc on them but the TY are solid clamps and worse still, point back towards you. This is obviously not very handy for risers. So, any idea chaps? Cheers.

I ride beta rev 3 right now, but saw an old kawasaki 175 enduro bike the other day at a friends house, and ever since I have been wondering if its even possible to get a TY and make it a dual purpose bike? Something I could ride to work, and still play in the woods. I assume not, but wanted someone to help get it out of my head. PS. I realize its possible to put a light and turn signals on any bike, but I'm wondering if it's a legitimate option. Example, there is now way I would ride my rev 3 on the road as a way to commute and enjoy the ride.

As I simply can't get myself to fork our the 200+ dollars for a new kick start on my TY 175 I have to ask the question - what are my alternatives??? Will any newer model kick starts fit, say something from a newer bike, different manufacturer etc? How about from the TY80? The TY80 kick start look much stronger, albeit a little shorter, and they are cheaper and readily available (at the moment at least). The TY 175 looks (and was) kinda weak... Anyone??

I've got my TY250C coming apart for main bearings, seals & a rebore to 1st oversize & want to know is there any way to improve the action of the clutch while the engine is in bits. The basket & hub are in good shape but I found the clutch to have very narrow range of engagement almost like a lightswitch which is a problem when making full lock 180deg turns as found in modern clubmans sections Levers are domino trials & the cable is a new venhill, action is quite light so I don't see any problem there Any suggestions or is this how they are?

I have a 1976 ty175. Have noticed lately that the bike is hard to get into gear. The lever seems hard to move and does not seem to want to return back (wants to stay in highest position after shifting) any ideas on what might be causing this.

So after some light restoration of my sons ty 80 I've bolted it all back together , gone to start it and the revs are sky high , all the setting are correct , it seems like it may have anoticed air leak or something of that description. It doesn't seem to matter what I do to the carb it does not seem to make much of a difference, the annoying thing is I didn't touch the engine or carb all I did to the bike was a light cosmetic clean up can anyone help please ?

I always wondered what the difference new shocks on a twinshock would make as far as handling etc. The stock shocks on my ty250a would sag the rear and bottom out easily but at the same time be quite stiff almost like running struts. I know most would recommend Betors, Falcons etc. but the $200-$400 cost just is not going to happen. So I came across a set of shocks from a 90's ke100. They had a what I would call a "looser" wound spring than the stock springs and were longer. Reviews of a ke100 said that the shocks were 'Bouncey". Anyway $25 dollars later and some drilling out larger of the bottom bushing they fit nice and do not have the sag in back. They are bouncey an…

Rebuilding a TY 250 and have found that it has the wrong flywheel. It is way light. I was going to machine a weight to press on but I need to know about how much more weight I need to add. If anyone knows what the stock flywheel should weigh or has a stock one to get rid of I would like to know. Thanks Aaron

Evening All I am I'm the process of starting a rebuild and note the cross strap/brace between the left hand side frame tubes above the pegs has broken. Looking at other TYs this seems to be a common problem and as such there is clearly a load at that point. What is the best fix - weld up as is, replace with a stronger gusset, or remove? If welded it may break again which would be annoying after powder coating so am tempted to replace with a stronger gusset. However this may send load elsewhere in the frame. Has anyone any thoughts or experience? Interestingly the brace/stop light bracket on the other side doesn't seem to suffer the same problem.

Once I used the lightest oil I could find, my TY175 forks felt pretty good as far as spring rate and damping was concerned. However, there is still a lot of stiction and the forks are not very compliant over little bumps. A friends TY with 250 forks looks and feels much more compliant on small stuff. Are the 250 forks more compliant for some reason. (They are hard to find.) Can the 175 forks be improved in this area? My fork tubes were a bit scratched up but repaired with JB Weld and much polishing. They do not leak. I was advised to get the "green" fork seals but could not find them in this small size. Has anyone tried fitting bushes in the lower legs? How diffi…

In the process of building a mini majesty and have a slight problem with footrests. Does anyone have any pictures of footrest solutions for said frame? or even any ideas. I have a pair of Miller replacements for a 175 but these do not allow for the rear brake to fit. Thanks
