hello there new to this forum ! just acquired a rough 250 majesty which i am goin to restore back to good health always wanted one when i was a kid ! but gave up trials and went moto crossing now just fat and old ! any way is there anyone out there for a bit of advice many thanks !

Doex anyone make weld on parts to relocate the upper shock mounts on TY175? I can make or buy plates to extend the swingarm easily, but the top looks like making four plates and a tube through it, so I am curious if I can buy premade and just MIG onto the tubing of frame.

Hi, I’ve been rebuilding a TY125 for some time and have nearly finished, the problem is that the original carb has some serious internal corrosion and I can’t get the bike to run properly. I’ve found an incomplete TY175 carb on eBay but have no idea what main jet size to use, the 175 has a 240 main in the bottom of the float bowl while the 125 has a 100 in the conventional position.

Hello Just brought a TY 175 and have a couple of questions I hope people can help with: 1) When I change gears with the bike up on a stand and rotating the rear wheel by hand the lever sometimes sticks (i.e. it doesn't return to center). Pretty sure the return spring is OK. Any ideas if this is a known problem (or a problem at all) and if so what is the fix? 2) Also, what is s good transmission oil, I am used to putting ATF in my Beta, does this work for the old stuff ? Does anyone know what the rear shock sag should be on a 1984 TY 250 mono? My 220 lbs [ rider and gear ] gets alot of sag, about 50% of shock travel. The shock only has reboud adjustment and no sag adjustmet. Did yamaha offer heavier springs for these bikes as an option? Thanks.

How far should forks be placed above the triple clamp on a 175 some have said even and some say 14 mm above??

does anyone know what year & model this 175 in the attachment is ?

Hello Hope someone can help. I have decided to attack my ty twinshock middle box to repack it as I have already done with my pinky. But unlike the pinky the twin shock has what appear to be three empty seperate chambers behind a mesh and just a thin slice of packing sandwiched between the mesh and the outer skin of the pipe ( the part the heat shield bolts too ) Does anyone know if these chambers should be packed with fibreglass material or left empty, I can see no remains of packing unless it has all disintergrated and blown out. I intend to replace the very fine mesh baffle to the rear of the pipe as a mod I believe Mick Andrews said he does in one of his articles. Im a…

Hi, any ideas how you fit a kickstart shaft on my ty250 mono? Do you only have to take the kickstart side casing off or do you have to get in from both ways? Thanks,

I found a chap who has a few (old/new) stock ty pistons in the uk. These are the Dykes ring type with the correct window size in the piston, some are Hepolite and a few other brands. He has them for the 175 and 250 (twinshock), the 175 are only available in .25 and .50 sizes, don't know about the 250. If your interested give him a call on 01829 261641.

Hi, im going to rebuild my ty250 top end, i was just wondering what the recommended brand of piston etc is? Also, my rear shock seems to have become very loose, i think the gas has blown out because i' am no longer getting any feedback from the adjustment, i was wondering what should i do? I assume i need to send it to a shop to have it 're-gased' so to speak, and a shock service... Anyone got any idea what that would cost? Cheers ?

Just a quick one, Are Yamaha TY250 mono barrels all the same, will early ones fit a Pinky? I have been told that one of the mono's was not a brilliant bike so I don't want to use the wrong barrel if one is different. Thanks.

Hi there can anyone help me with the standard sprocket gearing for a ty80 what should it be or what is the best!

I am looking at buying some exotica parts for my TY175, seeing exchange rates are favourable for me at the moment. I am tossing up in deciding between a WES pipe or CDI conversion. What should I go for first, what is the better of the two for bang for bucks? My engine is standard otherwise at present. I was thinking the ignition may pay benefits overall, and the pipe, where does this improve power, more mid range to top end? Appreciate anyone who has first hand experience with these parts.
