Hi I am looking for some original black VF mudguards in good second hand condition. My Father had a trials special in the 1970's, and He had four inch ones up front and looks like five and a half at the back. We still have the original mudguards, the front might still be useable, but the rear one needs replaced. I know these have been out of production for a long time so not the easiest to get. Any help will be very appreciated.

I have tried and tried, read the manual and studied the wiring diagram but I cannot work out how to check with a multimeter when the points open. In all the books it says to connect to the black lead on the coil and any ground point. Some also say to remove the condenser wire while doing this. I have removed the condenser ready to fix it up under the tank where the heat wont affect it so much? My continuity buzzer simply buzzes constantly trying to set the ohms at different values has no effect either It looks to me from the wiring diagram that the points are grounded through one of the generator coils. What am I missing? Thanks for any help on this. Alex

Hi, I am rebuilding a Cota 330 and was wondering if anyone can steer me towards a magneto and stator. The bike was savagely treated and the previous owner tried to get the magneto off by using a couple screwdrivers which destroyed the cases and the stator. I think the 349/4 or the 350 will work as well. Thanks.

I have tried to set up the carb as described in a previous post but i seem to be struggling to get it right, the bike is a montesa cota 200 with a amal carb. The bike starts easily from cold using the choke and once warmed a little i then close the choke and unless i rev the bike it will stall i have tried screwing in the tickover screw slightly but then engine speed seems to be far too high. Whilst i blip the throttle to keep it running the first little bit of throttle seems to cause a slight bogging and then the engine picks up and revs freely. If i let the revs die and the engine stop the easiest way to restart is by using the choke even when hot. I have started at …

Right done the search and I am sure it has been asked before, but will a Tubeless tyre fit on a Tube type rim (Bultaco). I will be using a tube and the security bolt? Long time since I had a bike with tubes in the rear (SSDT boys have got it so easy now), I am collecting a Bultaco for one of my friends and tasked to help him. As I have some half decent tyres in the garage where i have nipped the side wall I was wondering if they would do the trick? As this Bultaco has been in a garage for over 20 years without turning a wheel, I wonder what rubber it will have on?? I am guessing a Pirrelli, we will see?

Hi there! Can anyone please tell me what engine oil should be used in a KT250? I don't have a handbook/manual so not sure what type/grade oil is recommended. Many thanks Simon

I have just received my new tapered bearings and now I look at the old setup I am not entirely sure where to begin. Does anyone have any diagramatic instructions on a similar type of bike. I know I need to chill the small bits and warm the big bits. I have the old bearings out but I am not sure of best way to remove the lower races from the stem. I ordered the parts from Pyramid and great fast service but I also wonder if any spacers may be required etc or will the replacement just fit straight on. All advice welcome.

Hi, New to the forum and trials riding. I have just bought a TY175 which still had it's original tyres from 1979! I'm struggling to find any UK suppliers which actually have suitable replacment tyres in stock. I believe that IRC and Michelin make suitable tyres but can anyone suggest a supplier? From reading other posts I don't think I can fit tubless tyres with a tube as they don't seat proberly?

Haven,t been on a bike all year until yesterday.I rode the 199a first and then the Ty250A in the backyard in a small area.I,m not a very good trials rider to start with so I was just practicing some tight turns and going over logs.I haven,t ridden the 199 much, maybe three times, but it was easier to do all of it on the TY. Does that seem right or does it mean I,m just more use to the trusty TY? I did finally do it all with feet up on the 199,but it took quite a few laps around the course.I had about an hour inbetween, then hopped on the TY and did it first time and kept doing it feet up.Just my novice observation I guess, but the TY seems easier to ride for someone like m…

Well I'd heard it was possible but saw it with my own eyes yesterday.....I wish I'd had a camera to take a snap of the guys face when he let the clutch out! Always thought this was a Villiers party trick, is it common on Fantics....can't tell you which model it was?

Does anybody know of a manufacturer who would make me a one-off base gasket. Or better still supply me with a base gasket for a Hiro 350T engine as used in the Armstrong/CanAm 320 Trial. I totally ruined mine whilst removing the barrell to inspect the piston and bore (proved to be a waste of time as they are both in good condition). The gasket itself is like a thick plastic with a fine wire mesh within, so therefore, i am not really interested in cutting a Cornflakes box to match Thanks in advance. Gaff.

Howdy folks.Any one here be intrested in competeing in a premiere twinshock road trial some time in the autunm next year. The idea being that there is no big meeting for twinshock riders in the calender only the ACU classic series, the pre65 boys have the scotish, manx and bonanza, so we in the herefordshire classic trials club want to put on an event for the twinshock brigade. Useing terrain in the same part of the county as an old national trial was once held. No dates at the mo as we dont want to clash with the ACU classic series. Anyone intersted? Cheers.

Hi. I’m looking at getting back into trials as soon as we are out of Lock down. I’m looking at TYs and wonted some advice; - apart from the obvious what’s the differences between the 175 and 250s. I’m guessing the 250 is heavier and perhaps has a longer wheelbase but probably pulls better with greater torque? Any views on how they ride by comparison? - what benefits do the Majesty modifications make and are these actually worth it for a club rider? thanks

I have recently got hold of a 159 which has been stored for a few months but was definitely a runner (and I can trust the guy I got it from). If I crank it over with the plug on the head I can't get a spark. I can't see anything obvious, the points check out with a multi meter and have tried a spare ignition coil which made no difference and have also tried more than 1 plug. For the wiring into the 'chocolate block' is it correct that the red cable from the flywheel magneto goes to the black lead in the ignition coil? Any advice gratefully received.
