Pre-65 Bikes

I know very little about these bikes which I believe were ridden by Dave Rowlands and Mick Bowers, do any of them remain, were they very special. If BSA had perseverd with them might they have had a Bultaco beater?

I did a silly thing today, I totalled up how much I have spent on my engine rebuild (a Villiers 32a) Including the buying the engine its cost just over £900 and I still haven’t got an ignition yet! I didn’t expect it to cost so much, the last time I rebuilt a complete engine it cost less than £300!

Hi guys I am struggling for past few weeks . I am not able find suitable bearing for BSA C15 headstock with Ossa Mar forks/yoke. either the bearing is smaller or bigger. if someone can provide brand/number they have used. and workaround that will be very helpful. Regards JH

Hi there im rebuilding a Matchless G250 for trials riding it had a 28mm monoblock carb on as standard road trim what size should i buy a new concentric carb for trialing cheers andyd

Did the usual google searches - nothing. So, has anybody put an ali barreled cub engine on the scales?

Just stripped down my 4 speed gearbox, the bearing on the output shaft seems to have a coating of copper on it, I presume it’s a 6205 bearing but it measures .002” over size? I’ve tried a 6205 bearing on the casting and it’s a slide fit at best, I presume the copper coating is to pack it out, has anyone had a similar experience? Or does it use a special bearing?

I’m looking for a nice exhaust silencer for my Villiers project, I’ve had a look around and all I can find are 4 stroke silencers?

Could anybody please point me in the right direction regarding the above bike owned from new by my trialing uncle. He is looking to restore the bike to original condition could anybody please recommend a company or individual who is capable of carrying out the work. Would prefer East Anglia or South East. Does anyone know what weight difference there is between alloy and steel rims? I'm thinking the standard 21/18" trials sizes. Hopefully someone might have some lying about they could weigh! Thanks!

During a conversation at a trial last weekend I was told that 5 speed boxes are now being made for Bantams ? So had a look around on the intraweb and only found a few references to road racing. So who is doing them,or is it the GPO trying to get their telegrams delivered quicker.

Disregarding an aftermarket frame, what mods have you done to your cub in order to improve competitiveness?

If you have a spark and you don't get a bang or pop after putting petrol directly into the barrel any ideas what this means, is the timing totally out?

What bits are needed to convert a standard engine into a short stroke ? Anybody have contact details for Mick Dickinson, makes heads and barrels ?

Bit of a long shot really, I'm in the process of making a Bantam from wheel fit into a pair of 4 bolt BSA forks. The spindle diameter is too small for the forks, I was wondering if anyone could tell me the bearing sizes and brake plate nut thread for a spindle that used the 4 bolt forks ?

I have a 3 speed D7 bantam , is it possable to put a 4 speed cluster into it or is not worth it.
