Hi, I've just acquired a B40 that isn't a trials bike but has been modified a bit for green laning. I'm intending to have a go at a few trials even though I know the geometry, frame, footrests etc. won't be ideal but it's just for fun right. Anyway it really needs a rebore but is already on plus .060. The head is also not very good so I am looking for a complete top end if anyone knows of one that may be for sale. Ideally one that I could just put on and go but beggers can't be choosers so anything considered if it wasn't going to cost the earth to put right. It is a late B40G engine. Thanks, Keith.

Can anyone help me? I need a new trials frame for my B40. Looking at a Faber Mk3 but am being put off by reports that Faber can be difficult to deal with. I'm near to Preston, Lancashire. I believe there is a frame make by the name of Roger Heap. Has anyone got his details? Jeff

Hello, i found out my bsa does not have the WD gearbox where can i find the proper gears? what gears are in a road bsa? mine are 18/32 23/27 27/23 26/17 anyone knows who makes alloy barrels for the bsa? best regards bob

I need some help with my b40 engine! Im in the middle of rebuilding my engine and Im not sure about the crank shaft bush in the outer casing. It looks like a steel insert within a piece of rubber and is'nt a very good fit with the crank. Drawings only show an oil seal. Is this correct or has some one played with it? would be very greatful for any info.

Good evening folks. Just acquired a BSA Bantam for a bit of a project, I am told its 175cc and wondered if anyone had any information as I've no experience of these machines. The frame is a D7 and engine is a D143. The bike is complete although rusted and I am hoping to get new rims (originals beyond repair) and sort out the forks which are rusted solid. Any information on the bike and where to get spares such as rims, spokes, forks and any other information would be appreciated. Thanks. Eiger.

Looking for a wee bit help please.Building a D7 trials bike.Nearly finished it but when out testing it in the field next to the house the bike pulls well from the bottom end but goes off at the top end(looses power/flat).It is fitted with a 22mm Amal concentric carb and the std. pan cake filter(not the one with the strangler).I'm not looking for an instant cure but a wee point in the right direction would be braw i.e. jetting??? cheers the noo Brian P.s. the carb is brand new

Hi guys, I was helping my dad clear out one of his garages and in the corner lurking behind an enfield was a old BSA bantam rolling chasis, under a cloth there was an engine and other odds and sods looks like maybe 90% of the bike present. It is obviously a road bike and it is of the twinshock era rather then ridgid. My question is what work and cost would it take to make this basket case into a decent trials machine? Is it even worth the effort of should i do it back up into a road bike and flog it? If i could.convert it i would keep it but i dont have a road license.

Hello I am building a BSA Bantam D1 plunger '53 with a friend into a trials project ready for the 2012 Bath Classic Motorcycle Club calender and need a bit of help and advise, can anyone help me with the questions below? 1) it runs 300 x 19 road tyres, does anyone know what size trials tyres would fit and what would work best, the original mudguards have been changed to trials ones but the standard forks are still in place? 2) the standard top yoke is a pressed tin affair, can a cast one from a later model fit, was looking on eBay at this one 110787478534 (its listed as a D1 version) or 260916421183 (later model) but seems to be cast, will it fit, I would like to cho…

Hello I am working on a D1 Bantam which has been converted to a rigid rear end, i want to increase the ground clearance and to my way of thinking, the best way to do it is basically cut the bottom of the frame off and weld it further up and thus moving the end up towards the tank etc. Has anyone got any suggestions or words of advise on this sort of thing. I appreciate its not to everyone's taste but its a spare frame and the bike needs to be a bit more usable or the project will die a death in the corner of a garage unless some new life is breathed into it! At the same time, we'll be improving the fork angle, any angles that are considered the "golden angle"? Thanks…

Just finished rebuild of Bantam D7, with a couple of running issues. Takes a good while to start - seems when you put some petrol down the port and heat the plug it will start, then run ok - changed plug cap and new plug. It will then tick over and rev out, but when you ride under load it bogs after about quarter throttle - sounds like it is pulling a load of air in. Any thoughts ? (crank seals ??) cheers guys John

Guess what? she who thinks she must be obeyed has been tidying up and i'll be damned if i can find it. Hi all, i have a friend who is without internet access, and is currently building a Bantam, he now has a rolling chassis, and the next stage of the build will the motor, without having to take a second mortgauge out what would be the best mods he could do to the motor. ( 187 cc big bore ) And are there any web sites where i can print info off for him. Many thanks HIGGO.

Hi, Can anyone explain how to set up my bantam b175 so that it does not need a battery for the engine to run.It is used for trials so does not have lights etc,I am trying to make it as simple as possible without spending a fortune on electronic ignition, can the alternator be connected straight to the coil so I can remove the battery and regulator? Also does anyone know of a source for buying a tucked in high level exhaust or the right size of silencer required or is it just guess work? Thanks for any info replied.
