Hi Say a trial consists of 3 laps of 7 sections. Is it allowable for a single rider to double up or possibly triple up the sections so to only do one lap? understandable if ALL riders have been given permission in trial briefing In my eyes this is cheating as in that this rider is remembering lines and repeating straight away without forgetting a section Also the ground conditions can be less torn up or stones become wet or muddy as this rider is riding on a possible one lap so misses a lot of damage to section find by the rest of the field of riders Are they any written rules re this matter? Or is it just an unwritten rule and this tactic …

Hi all, I need a new set of tyre's, just wondering which ones are best, think my tyre's have tube's in but not 100% sure as never changed the tyre's as i have only had the bike since christmas. How can you tell if they have tubes in or not? cheers Adam

The last time I rode a trials bike it was in 1978. It was my late brothers Montesa Cota 248 if I remember rightly. I was 16 at the time. Oh the power compared to my Honda SS50 5 speed. Roll forward 40 years I decide I would like to have a go at trials. Ask for advice on here and get advised to buy maybe a 200 to 250 2 stroke or a 250 four stroke bike as they will do everything a novice wants and more. So what do I do? I purchase a Beta 300 Evo 2015. Collected it. got it home. Washed it. Admired it. Well today I decided to take it to my workshop that has a bit of waste ground adjacent to it and have a ride. DO YOU KNOW THE FRAME AND ENGINE NUMBER OF YOUR BIKE? I don't and never have known the numbers on any of my non road registered bikes. I was talking to a chap that had two motocross bikes stolen from his well guarded garage recently. I asked him about frame and engine numbers, but he had no idea. Therefore there was no way for any third party to EASILY identify them. This got me thinking. If it was a requirement for (modern) bikes to enter their frame and engine numbers on the entry form at ALL trials events and this was then checked (perhaps on a random basis) by the Scrutiniser, then this might help identify stolen bikes and deter bike theft. The discussion on another thread got around to possible dangers of unleaded fuel when used for cleaning air filters etc. The topic went on to consider the further danger of breathing in exhaust fumes from a machine not fitted with a catalytic converter (the device used to clean up fumes in all new(er) cars.) ie all trials bikes. Here is a link to an article about this very subject. Whilst it doesn't mention motorcycles, effectively a trials bike is a simple single cylinder engine, as is a lawn mower or strimmer etc Take a look and draw your own conclusions, or better still do some research on the chemicals used in unleaded fuel which are used to replace the lead..... …

On a recent holiday to Scarborough I spotted an advertisement for a Sea Angling competition entry fee £5 prizes of from £200 down to £40 & £50 for largest fish. Trials & most other motorcycle sports pay a minimum of £15 entry and much more for speed events yet give out very few awards. I know we have insurance costs to take into account, some years ago I attended a local car rally regional status & drivers could sign on when using certain products tyres, oil etc and be in line for a bonus for a good result I'm talking modified road cars not WRC. You would think at National level trials the suppliers could give a little back to unsupported riders.

I am getting back into trials. I haven't decided which bike to buy yet. Please help. My number one (or two) factor when buying a new bike is how easy it is to hop /maneuver I have ridden a Montesa 4RT and an older Cota and they were both very difficult to hop. After one 360 I was worn out. I have heard that the Gas Gas is much easier to move, but how does it compare to other bikes? I weigh about 175. I am buying a brand new bike. I am /was a expert rider. I know that weight has something to do with it, but my old Fantic was heavier than the Montesa and was way easier to hop... but maybe the Montesas I rode were setup for like 80 pound riders?? so - can someone p…

I have a PWK 28 and there is fuel leaking from the idle air screw. Yep, the air screw. Baffles me how it can happen, but I must have something wrong. The carb is pretty new, maybe only 25 hours on it. Any ideas?

Do IRC rear tyres still come off the modern Motad-style rims when inflated at very low pressures, 2 - 3 psi? If so, then why don't the manufacturers make the bead a bit smaller/reduce it's circumference?
