Hope this was the right forum to post. Wondering about auxiliary fuel tanks and what everyone does to carry extra fuel? Two of my buddies have the Acerbis auxiliary tanks strapped to their front forks. I like the idea but also don't want to lose my headlight, especially as we are coming into night riding season. I do a fair amount of trail riding with my bike and last week I ran out of gas just about back to the truck. Other option I was looking at were the Giant Loop Armadillo fuel bags and strapping one to the fender or something. Has anyone got a good solution for this, what do you do? Cheers!

We rode in the scott trial last week and one of our biggest fears was a front puncture as they are very time consuming and a general massive pain to sort by yourself half way up a moor. We did use a heavy duty tube with slime in it and did avoid punctures but you will never know how close you actually got to getting one. I have since noticed that Nitromousse list a "plushie" for a Michelin x11 and Dunlop front tyre that gives 6 to 8 psi These seem ideal for the Scott/SSDT I know that a mousses historically were generally regarded as too hard and had little feel to them but they seem to have come on technically (so they all claim) in recent t…

I've been playing about on my recently purchased TXT250. After riding a couple of 125s I've realised I am incompetent at trials and I'm performing significantly better on a 125 than my 250 so I've decided to advertise it for a swap. I have been pondering taking this opportunity to possibly pick up an older twin shock. Maybe a Fantic or Montesa Cota. They're beautiful machines and surprisingly affordable. In my quest for an easier to ride bike, how would an older machine compare to my TXT 250? Whould they have the softer power delivery I'm looking for or would I me having the same issues I am now? I've had my Gaerne boots for about a year and a half. Allways oil them and dry properly. Do about 1 trial a month and practice once a week. Noticed that the stitching on the left boot has broken and the leather is starting to come away from the rubber sole. Taken the boot to a couple of cobblers and none of the say they can repair it. Apart from this area of stitching breaking, the boots are in really good condition but it looks like they are going to be chucked if they can't be repaired. This seems crazy as I had my last pair of boots for years. Was wondering if anybody else had had trouble with Gaerne boots and how long do people tend to get out of their boots ? …

Hello All; new elderly member returning riding after 40 years; Just found a 1976 Yamaha TY175 the same bike I bought new in 1976; The bike is in good shape everything original; I’d like to slowly start updating it to make it a bit lighter and handle and ride better; nothing major at first may be tires, handlebars, levers, and foot peg replacement / repositioning; any advice or previous experiences in doing this; would be appreciated; my goal being older now; is to slowly bring back my riding skills; in woods behind my house and possibly enter a Observed Trials event down the road; I’m hoping some upgrading and simple mods; will help and make a more enjoyable riding experi…

Entered a trial via the ACU portal. Now, at least a week later it says that my entry is not valid, due to my not having a rider number. Never been asked for this before. Spent ages on the website, trying to discover how to do this, but with no luck. Anyone know how to do this?

Hi Last time I was out on my txt 300 noticed some smoke coming from below tank, had a look and most wires for the fan were melted and charred. On Futher inspection I saw the thermostat module/rectifier/ regulator (saw it called a few things had basically melted . Are there any specific causes for this or should I just start replacing parts. Thanks in advance just looking for some knowledge.

hey guys. i’m not too sure how all of this works but basically, i discovered trials a while ago and i really wanna get into it. i saw many people recommending beginners to find a trials club in their area, so i went searching. i’d say i searched quite a bit, but i found absolutely nothing. i couldn’t find a single trials club in the country, let alone a dealer selling trials bikes in the area. i’m 16, so there isn’t much i can do like travel. what do i do now?

I’m really struggling with the sport and it’s taking me so long to get to grips with the basics it’s starting to get embarrassing. One thing I am noticing as I ride with peeps on 250 and 300cc bikes is that I have to ride my bike differently - I’m just not entirely sure what to do! What advice would you give someone riding a 125 that would differ (or even that’s the same!) as the larger CC. For example: my friends 250cc will just track up a (not particularly steep) hill with a smidge of throttle, my 125 would need more oomph at the bottom or it would be touch and go if it made it up.

Got my eye on a bike at SW trials / enduro, has anyone been to the shop before? Its a fair trek there for me and wondering if its worth going up there for a look around or getting it delivered.

Does anyone have an idea what the piece of rubber is used for on the 2021 Gas Gas TXT rear brake hose that connects to the calliper?

Do the trials brands all manufacturer their own engines in house? Or do certain brands share engines, common parts, etc?

I've got a old 1999 Bultaco Sherco 2.5 not been used in a few years but the fan doesn't seem to cut in. I've tested the fan separately and know that that works, I've also bypassed the temperature sensor but still the fan doesn't work. Apart from the fan not working everything else seems fine, although a little difficult to start (it's a Sherco so expected) it runs fine. Any help appreciated. Ian.

Hi Folks I've always fancied getting into trials but never really got round to buying a bike, I currently ride road bikes and enduro, I particularly enjoy hard enduro side of the sport. I've been keeping an eye out for a while now and i've spotted a 2020 Sherco ST250, from reading on the forum I'm definitely looking for a 250 or under, but are Sherco's newbie friendly, I'm guessing all the brands are going to be much of a muchness for a beginner? Anything specific to lookout for on this model? I'm happy to look at other brands if something is better suited, I only refined my search to sherco as i like the colour scheme TIA

Judging by the comments on numerous posts in this forum, there are widely varying ideas of how often gearbox oil should be changed. That's also reflected in many adverts for secondhand bikes. So I thought I would try to get a better handle on the subject: How often do you change your gearbox oil? What is the reason for choosing that interval? Which oil do you use?
