I bought my Evo second hand, do I need to put the lights on and take it to DVLA to get it road registered?

Hi folks. Starting to look in to this whole road trial things and just wondered what you guys do about insurance?!?!?! Do any of you use the ACU insurance and have any details of it? Is is annual or pay per comp??? Im 21 and have had my license for 5years but no NCB. Any general advice would be great because i belive i have 2 insure with the frame number before DVLA will register it. THANKS IN ADVANCE, THATCHMAN

Ok so I know I have posted about this before as I have had problems with my rack rusting. Well today I contacted them. I explained that the rack is only 4 months old and has rust all over it. It frankly look really bad on the back of my car. The rack was purchased from Autowbars and they were great in the delivery and purchase. The racks are advertised "built to last" zinc plated. However, when I rang them this morning they told me they always rust and the zinc plating doesn't help! But what really pushes my button is their recommendation is to spray it with WD40 every week! What the best way to carry a Beta Evo 200 Trial Bike without damaging the fork seal and making sure the bike doesn't move in the trailer? How far down do you safely take the forks down? Pictures welcome if you can. Thanks a lot for your help.

I have just got a gas gas 125 for the grandson. I have also purchased a Dave Cooper tow bar bike rack, to carry the bike. Question is, what is the best way to secure the bike to the rack for transportation on the back of my car. I have two smallish rachet straps and one large one as used by lorry drivers to secure a load. Cheers Nubsey

I found that if I compressed the fork legs on my Gas Gas with a ratchet strap it would wheel straight into the back of My Ford Galaxy people carrier with no need for any dismantling of the bike. The bike goes in front wheel in first and is a perfect fit with the rear mudguard just clearing the boot. I made this rack to hold the bike securely. It simply clips into the slots in the floor where the middle seat would be. What do you think? Only thing is I've now sold the Galaxy and bought a van!

As the title suggests really gents/ladies. How do you secure youre bike to the rack? After trying it myself i just dont have much confidence in my pride and joy not making an escape for freedom after a moderate bump. Pictures would be great if you have them, thanks.

Hi, have just got myself a new van and really want to get organized with regards to how to strap or secure my bike in it. I typically carry one bike but on occasions could be three. Are there any racks available? is there any thing that could be simply made up? I am trying to avoid the straps everywhere sort of lash up that usually ends up happening! and would be grateful of any tips or suggestions that could steer me in the right direction. Many Thanks.

I am thinking about buying a twin cab pickup to cart two bikes about on. The bed is not long enough to carry two bikes with the tailgate up. I will have to carry them both with the tailgate down. I was wondering if any of you know of front wheel holders that can be bolted to the flatbed floor, to enable me to carry two bikes securely with the tailgate down? Alternatively, any other ideas on how to carry bikes would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Dave

I moved to the USA on a 3 month work detail and here I am 20+ years later, married, kids, dogs, mortgage……but I left my love back in the UK. I am looking to be reunited with my beloved 1978 Montesa Cota 348. I would love this bike to be my next rebuild project. Does anyone have any bike shipping experience? This bike has been sitting for 30 years in a garage (it was not ridden the last few years of me being in the UK) should I dismantle it and ship part by part? Should I ship it complete? Can I get customers clearance without a title? I have had a couple of quotes that want to wrap the bike in bubble wrap and build a customized crate along with all those costs! …

Today i welded up a rack that holds the front wheel in place inside my VW transporter. Would like to see pictures of how you guys tie the bike to the floor please ! Transporter,Transit whatever i just need some ideas Tia,

right guys........... ive got a 2-3 bike trailer, its very well/professionally built etc etc..proper job for any kind of bike, probably even road bikes at a push.... but it weighs a ton ! i cant move it around as much as id like to for storage etc.... after seeing a few really smart chopped up ,trials bike specific bike trailers i think its time to get the angle grinder out............ im gonna chop it back to a rollin' chassis and go from there..... the best ones ive seen have a block/platform sat above the axle for the bash plate to sit on then, towards the front end, some kind of tray for one wheel to sit in, leaving the other simply hanging over the back of the ax…

Does anyone have any experience/thoughts on sideways bike trailers? Like this: I haven't really got space to store a conventional bike trailer, so I'm wondering if building something similar for the trials bike is a silly idea or not?
