apart from the trial what other things will be on during scottish week? a 100 year party?

Twenty-four year old Michael Brown - Gas Gas from Scarborough edged clear of the chasing pack on the second day of the 2011 Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) with a two mark ride to follow on from his clean performance yesterday. First time travel from USA to '08 SSDT. Need advice as to where best to stay. Is there a central hotel/headquarters for the event? Also, which airport is best to fly in to? Thanks for any advice.

I have been asked to write an article about a vintage Ariel HT3 that I have that took part in the 1955 SSDT and would love to find out who rode it in that trial. anyone with a 1957 or 1958 program or info that might help and add a personal touch to this article would be very helpful! Hi On re-building my 1971 Bultaco M80 slimline I'm re-discovering some dabs of grey paint that I take to be seals from the Scottish. I'm assuming that this bike was ridden in the 1972 Scottish by Karl Rowbotham from Kidderminster. Can anyone confirm (or otherwise) that:- 1) Grey seals were used in 1972. 2) If not, a year when grey seals were used. 3) Karl Rowbotham rode a 244cc Bultaco in the 1972 SSDT and his number. 4) Any pics would be more than fabulous. I've done a fair bit of observing myself over the years, I appreciate how tough a job it can be. When I ride an event I'm always very grateful for the volunteers who give up their free time and stand out in all weather so that we can all enjoy a days sport. I know and appreciate that its difficult at times to stick to the stipulated rules. Especially in no stop events where a rider has put so much effort into completing a section which may have resulted in a brief pause. It can be difficult as an observer to make a judgement, that adheres strictly to the rules. I have been at the receiving end of being fived and cleaned for committing the exact same offence. After reading HL's above post got me thinking how could you boost the entry in years when economy and such may have an effect on the entry numbers. What if Thur, Fri, Sat, were open for a three day event to fill the ranks of those riders who had gone out of the event in the first three days, even allow them to re enter if they have gone out due to bike failure if they can get their machine sorted. Some first timers may not want to take on the full trial to start with but may take on three days to see what it's like, and the older riders who think six days would just be too much, may jump at the chance to ride the last three days. Picked this comment from another thread regarding the Sherco 4T's performance causing Jarvis some lost marks and possibly denying him the win. Firstly, obviously, I am interested in the Sherco 4T as I have stated that if they get it right I would buy another so hearing the above leaves me asking the question is this bike sorted or not? Secondly, How did the Beta 4T do? I know Pascuet done well. Anyone? Thirdly, There were a lot of 4RT's there.. they all seem to have gone well. Anyone with any stories on them worth noting? why dont we see the top ten world riders ride the scotish six day. is it because its totally different riding skills. i think so i think dougie would win every time
