G'day, Just got my restored TY running. It has a new Sammy Miller's alloy silencer, but it's running too loud for my liking. They advised that repacking (more packing) could be detrimental to performance. They make 'em so I guess they're right, but I imagine there's always another view. Anyone have any thoughts on this, or advice on how to quieten the exhaust overall. I burnt out all the carbon/crud from the pipe/middle section before re-installing, so that part of the equation should be fine. Is it worth getting the middle sectioin opened up and packed, or does this harm performance, too? Just thinking about all the options. Even considered that exhaust wrapping ta…

Picked up a 1986 Honda TLM200R to provide a back up to the TLR. The chassis appears good but the motor needs work. I have searched for a supplier of parts books but found nothing. Does anyone have a copy either as a file that can be emailed or a paper copy? Happy to pay for postage and copying costs. Regards, Peter.

I bought a 44 H TY mono a few weeks back, fixed the igniton and put it in the shed while I finish a TS project, this weeckend I made a few round behind the house to find it very VERY " SLUGGISH " so I took the carb off cleaned it put it back with no improvements. I'm sure the exhaust need's a good cleane up but still I think the carb need's fixing. I have " on the shelve " a new roung slide 26 mm Mikuni ( VM type ), is it a good idea to try it on ? Or am I loosing my time, I know I have to modify the flywheel. but I have to start somewhere. Guy

Having decided to invest in an early mono to compete against the modern bikes in the intermediate class.. where should I put my money.. I fancy a Fantic 305 or the slightly more modern Aprillia climber . Having had neither back in the day, like a lot of people I had a mono yamaha , which way should I jump as I would like something a little different. If anybody has any whys or why nots please feel free... Thanks

I finaly found a TY Mono 250, I had a 350 a couple of years ago but could'nt pull myself to fix it ( a 350 was not what I wanted ) so I sold it for the price I had paid to someone who was locking for one. My new aquisition need some tlc but is in a fair shape, I don't want to make it a SSDT winner but a good reliable trial machine. In the serial number there is 44H so I assume it's the model, Since it's running I was able to test ride it at home and first thing that came to mind was " Am I on the second floor? " I am use to my TY A with the footrest lowered more than one inch. Now a few questions Fork oil, it says in the 350 cc manual ( the only one I could find ) 99 mm f…

Hi, I'm thinking about lowering the foot pegs on my pinky. Is it a worth while mod bearing in mind I'm going to have to pay for the work to be done and will it detract from the value of the bike ? Cheers.

after a few weeks of fettling and a bit of investment the project my dad started about 20 years ago is finished. a friend borrowed it and rode at the bognor club bluebeards trial on saturday 2nd. he rode the harder route and only lost 1 all day. the bike ran really well and never missed a beat, i've just got the bike back and its amazing how easy it starts. i've uploaded some videos of the trial. including one of it starting from cold, really pleased that it did so well. also check out the riding shirt i found in the garage http://www.youtube.c...A?feature=watch i think its now going to be sold to make room for the next project. cheers wayne

I`ve had a pinky for a while and when I bought it had a number plate with a reg but no V5. The seller said it came with a spare mudgaurd on but couldnt remember for sure. As I`ve just sold my roadbike and could do with switching my insurance policy to keep my no claims ticking over I would like to apply for the V5 but is this likely to cause problems. Anyone know of a way of checking the reg with the frame numbers to see if they match. I`ve ran a vehicle check with dvla and it comes back as a 91 yam but thats all.
