All this talk about no-stop vs stop 'n hop, got me thinking.,,, I'm relatively new to trials, have only been riding 5 years, but I am thoroughly addicted to it... I've been travelling around to whatever national (US) events I can get to, and I always have a ball. I love the community, have made lots of great friends, and the competition is friendly and supportive. I come from a car racing background. I was a winner. Consequently people didn't like me until they bothered to get to know me. I was labelled a cheater, etc. - same old story. It was technically challenging and I still enjoy racing when I can but it's no longer my "life". Trials is. So I don't really have a h…

I was reading a thread on another trials forum that they are changing a rule and that you will no longer be allowed to stop forward motion or you get a point (or maybe 5?). They weren't talking about the details but mostly about several small bike companies lobbying for this in an effort to "save" the sport.

Hello all, I'm a 41 yr. old trials newb that just picked up a 2005 Montesa 4RT Repsol. I'm coming from a couple years of trail riding in AZ and CO. My house is on a 10 acre lot that I am beginning to add obstacles to. If anybody in the area wants to assist in building the track (and ride of course), let me now! I don't work so I plan on being on the bike a lot - even this winter. In the meantime I will be practicing my ass off (day/night/snow/whatever)! James

I am looking for anyone who has photos of the 1983 National, Round 1 hosted by the CTTA in Austin, TX. Loop maps and other event memorabilia are also acceptable. In addition, if any rider has TX State Series photos from City Park, those also would be helpful. The CTTA is in jeopardy of loosing its riding areas at City Park/Emma Long Park in Austin. We are trying to document our history there through the 90s. Please PM me if you have something. Thanks, Laura

A great result for the American women at the Trials d'Nations. Fifth place finish at just over 50 points with Spain on 24 should make them proud!

I was just informed of the recent passing of Bob Miller through our So. Cal Trials Forum. Some of you may remember Bob as the US Fantic Importer and owner of Section One Trials Products. Bob has been missing from the our sport for the last 7 or 8 years due to health problems. I believe he was 75 when he passed. Bob was probably best known for his custom made accessories for Bultacos in the 80's and as the US Fantic Importer through the 90's. He was usually the "go to guy" if you needed advice or a spare part at events here in CA. It wasn't uncommon to see Bob helping riders with mechanical problems regardless of the brand of bike they rode. And he usually ha…

  9. We (Team USA) are asking US clubs to support Team USA by buying a box of 45 Bernie Books. ...... The author Len Weed has had these stashed away in his storage locker for donkey's years... Everyone thought that this book was unavailable. Well here they are. After these are gone there are no more. Own a piece of history and a great learning tool. Bernie and Len did a great job of laying out the fundamentals of our sport....and the basics haven't changed. Timeless photos and great stories. These books are NOS originals. There is some slight cover discoloration on some books due to storage. Otherwise they are like new. Many clubs have already steppped up and ordered a box. …

The AHRMA rule book states: 13.2.6 ALL MODIFICATIONS MUST BE CONSISTENT WITH THE SPIRIT OF THE CLASS. Period modifications have been extensively documented and machines with obvious non-period or excessive modifications will be disqualified or required to compete in the next-higher-level class. Where would one find this extensive documentation for a premier trials bike frame as in C15? Would a home made Otter frame be legal?

Just picked up a 2007 Sherco 290. I haven't done much but practice balance and turns in my yard but am definitely looking for some fellow trials riders to hook up with. Anyone?

I've had a couple of US users make contact following the site upgrade with login problems from swbell.net/com addresses. I have tried responding to these users to help resolve the issues, but AT&T/swbell are blocking emails. I've contacted them, but as usual in corporate world, no response. If anyone affected can make contact via an alternate email address we can get things sorted out.

Pat Smage has taken the penultimate round in RI to seal the deal on the US Championship this year over Cody Webb with Brian Roper rounding out the podium again over Kieth Wineland. In my poor math, I think the deal is sealed on the third overall spot unless Kieth has a bad day tomorrow he is still locked in 3'rd overall. These guys are great! Looks like a good TDN team to me!

Back to back wins for Patrick Smage in Ohio this weekend over rival Cody Webb. Bryan Roper rounds out the podium today for the second time this year! I will try to update the standings once posted.

I have not had the opportunity to ride the new Ossa but based on the pictures, it appears to have some good engineering. What do the current / past owners have to say about these bikes? For as few as I see around (as in none at the last national), there seems to be quite a few for sale.

I would like to ban spectators or at least clueless spectators who ramble about and roll life threatining rocks down towards riders/minders/other spectators. In the 100s of events I have been to by far the scariest and most dangerous moments have not been on the bike or grabbing a bike,it has been while standing and casually observing a section!! Many of you were probably at TTC World Round ,last section when the bowling ball rock rearranged a guys face. My son Phil was shoulder to shoulder with him and I was within a few yards downslope. I had heard it may have been Raga s minder but dont know who let the rock go. 1 other time in Poland I was waiting for some 125 cc acti…

In my 36 years of Trials participation, I have to say we now have a Checking Nightmare on our hands. I helped check a section at National Round 1 here in Ca. We were told "any contact with a section marker/sign is scored a 5". "But you can run over a ribbon with no penalty as long as the tire is not past the ribbon with ground showing between the tire and ribbon". It seems to me these 2 conflicting situations makes little common sense. We did not penalize any rider who may have come in contact with a sign short of knocking it over. In previous years, when a rider displaced a sign, it was easy to argue as the infraction was clear to see to the checker and rider due …

  19. I think we have a great trials scene here in Utah. We have a great club, great events, and a great listserv, but I was hoping to find a discussion board somewhere for utah trials, but I can't find one. Maybe if we had our own thread here we wouldn't have to worry about that. Post up if you live in Utah and you ride trials.
