Youth Trials

Hello, I've been researching what bike to get my son. He's 9 and has been doing trials lessons at bumpy (birstall uk) and has been riding an Oset kids bike. He wants to get back into the petrol / gears he started on so ive been researching bike options. That research had brought me here and has been helpful to read other parents posts and questions. Ive been thinking the best bet would be a Beta 80cc. However there are not many juniors about. My question is, are the wheels interchangeable? for example. If I found him a senior 80, could I purchase some junior wheels? I feel he'd out grow a junior fast. Thanks

British Championship youth B leader Jack Sheppard crashed out of the superb YMSA 3 day at the weekend on the second day. He had ridden his socks off the previous day riding up a class on the top route finishing second to team mate Jack Challoner. On the second day,disaster struck after coming back off a rock step at the end of the second lap. Jack landed on his back and the betas handlebar used the back of his hand to soften its landing leaving him in immense pain and braking the metacarpel bone He has been back to hospital today after some temporary work and the opinion is that it will be 6 weeks in plaster. The Stratford-Upon-Avon Club are holding a round of the Homemaster Removals Midland Centre Youth Championship at Top Farm near Snowshill on Sunday 24th June. There will be four routes available to cater for all levels of ability and Youth A,B,C&D. The championship will be incorporated inthe clubs regular Dennis Bridges Summer trial, so is open to all riders not just youth, the entries are accepted on the day. Snowshill is signposted from the A44 at Broadway and the venue will be marked from Snowshill village. The trial starts at 10.30 Pete General Secretary Stratford-Upon-Avon MC&LCC

The IOW A/B round on Sept 9th will now be held at Duxmore quarry which is between Havenstreet and Arreton and next to Robin hill country park where about 20 thousand hippies will be raving it up all weekend, so this trial will probably have a musical back ground. Duxmore is one of the best venues on the Island and will have some mega sections. BAD NEWS at the time of posting this the sec of meeting has recieved no entries? More to follow.

Hi, i was just wondering is there a website were i could get a entry form from for the A+B national on july the 2nd. If not will a standard ACU form do??

This Sunday (30th) Consett Club will be putting a 'practice day' for the kids, running at Butsfield along with the main trial. Most of the kids have new shiny bikes off Santa , so we have decided to let them get used to them with a practice day rather than a trial. Any kids, any abilities are welcome, and if your youngster is new to trials, bring them along for a practice and have a chat about bringing them along next year. We will set a few sections out that they can have a go at, with no pressure or competition - just lots of fun . Hi All, I want a bit of advice here for my 10 year old son. He rides a 125 well and wants to compete but was 10 on the 20/4/2012 and born on the 20/4/2002 making him a class C junior according to the ACU handbook. As a Class C junior he can only ride a maximum 80cc bike, only missing the age gap by 3 months. Is this ruling set in stone or can the organisers/chairman of trials events have the final say at their discretion? or will he have to wait until hes 13 to ride a 125... Thanks Nick

hi i am selling my beta rev 80 to get a new bike. I have rode my dads 250 beta and i was going to get one, But i recently went to a trial and found if i wanted to enter i would need a 125 because I will be getting the bike for my 14th birthday. I can get either 125 or 250 but i realy want to enter comps, and I also want a lot of power. will a 125 have a lot of power ? thanks for reading.

Can anyone post a picture of a big wheel 80 standing besides a full size Trials bike ? I want to get an idea of the size of a 80 (never seen a 80 in person). My 9 year old son is getting too big for his OSET 16.0, but the 80 might be too big for him. Thanks.

After a year best forgotten, Chris has finally had the tonsils removed today that have been making him ill about once every three weeks this year. After a good start to the year he has been plagued with illness and the surgen said his tonsils were very strong and definatly needed to come out. Two weeks rest now and then after a winters training back for a full and hopfully unrestricted attack on the B class next year. Thanks to all our friends and please tell Joel Edwards ( D class champion 2003 ) to keep riding as we started in this together and he is as much apart of the British youth trials scene as anyone else. Hi, I'm having real trouble trying to back bleed the clutch on my son's 2009 Beta 80. I've used this method before on other bikes and have had no problems at all. There seems to be a problem at the master cylinder, because when I removed the brake line from the master cylinder I could see a nice flow of fluid coming out of the end of the line - when pumping through with the syringe - from the nipple at the slave cylinder. When it's connected back up, nothing is coming through. I believe the technique is to leave the lever released while back bleeding - which is what I am doing. Horsforth have announced that Small Wheel Conducted Trials will be included at all Club Championship Trials starting this Sunday. This has got to be a big boost for the Youth sections and is due to the larger numbers of Young Trialers looking for events at weekends. All Yeadon Guiseley Trials (Beginners, Club and Centre trials), Barring Nationals, All Horsforth Beginners, Wednesday night and Club trials and All Ripon Club trials in the Yorkshire Centre now have Conducted classes. All we need now is somebody to produce a NEW 50cc manual and we're off!!

The tyres that came on my lads GasGas TXT50 Boy are pretty naff! Has anyone found any better replacements? They are 16" front and 14" rear.

i want to take my daughter to the macclesfield club dead easy trial on sunday but how easy is it it will be her first event and i dont want to put her off
