Dropped off NYL's Gasser Last night and had a look at a 250 Evo. Bike had been picked up from John that day and was one of the first in the country. I gather that there are only about a dozen about. Jack Challoner has one and there will be a couple at the Dirt Bike show.

  2. Hi All, my 08 REV3 250 doesnt have a kill switch. It was like that when I bought it. As I have got more ambitious, I have occassionally become separated from the bike. As such I would like to now fit a kill switch. Can anyone please help me with how to wire it in? I have had a quick look and cant really see where one has been removed from the loom, so I need a gentle 'walk and talk' through where i should be wiring it in, and where to accomplish it. My friends have recomended the magnetic type with a lanyard. Any pros and cons with that set-up? Many thanks Ian North Wales

I've drawn a total blank with my rear brake. Basically I can't get close to the wheel locking out. Even with brake pedal fully compressed it still rotates. I think I've done everything to remedy the situation and this includes :- - New pads which are 1 trial old. - System re-bled. No air in system and good feel on the pedal. - Pads cleaned after last trial and didn't seem contaminated. - Pistons moving nicely in caliper. - Disc rubbed down and cleaned with alchohol solution. I really have drawn a blank. I had a dreadfull scorecard at the last trial as I just couldn't stop going down any of the big drops. Any ideas fellas ? Gaz

  6. I just picked up a Spanish Fly spark arrestor for my 300 Evo. Pretty neat looking item, but it looks like something one installs and then leaves in there as it is not super easy or quick to install. My concern is that the screen type arrestors will gum up pretty much each ride, so it'll need to be cleaned regularly. I used carb cleaners to clean past external type screen spark arrestors, but this one I'll have to spray while installed which I imagine isn't great for the silencer packing. Anyone else using the Spanish Fly? What are you doing? Have you noticed any difference in the power?

Just swapped my Montesa 4RT for a Beta 300 4 T. So a bit new to this model having only had 2stroke Betas before. I followed the downloaded manuals advice re oil and filter change, but on putting the prescribed 900 MLS back in , the oil window is full , as opposed to half full as the manual suggests. I accept there will be a residual value of oil left in the sump after draining but I don't want to cause damage by over filling, anyone experienced the same or has advice on filling. Many thanks guys.

I'm trying to decide between the 2014 evo 300 4T and the new Montesa 4RT260. For you 4t owners out there, would you buy the beta again or would you go for the Montesa if you could? Thanks for your input.

  12. My mate has had his EVO for about a year now and at first it would just randomly stall all the time which we though was due to a blob of aluminium rattling around in the fuel tank left over from where the previous owner had filled a tapped hole with weld! We thought it was cured but its still stalling all the time but pretty much only when the rear wheel is lifted off the ground. So far he's done all the usual things like: New spark plug Factory settings on carb Cleaned carb Checked reeds New fuel filter Reset float level Throttle cable adjuesments Idle adjustments New air filter But we still have this REALLY annoying problem! I seem to remember having…

Hi everyone, Just getting myself back in to trials and picked up a 2006 Beta Rev 3. Love it to bits but it could do with a couple replacement parts. The main thing is the rear mudguard and after hours and hours of trawling the internet I just cannot find a 2004-2008 one anywhere. They're either £150 on ebay for second hand ones or out of stock. Anyone know of any alternative rear mudguards I could fit to it? Or maybe there's a manufacturer out there that I just haven't found...? Cheers, Adam

Looking at the Evo manual, there are 3 special tools required to get the crankshaft out; primary gear puller, motor shaft puller and special primary tool. The two pullers look not to difficult to make but the special primary tool would be a big challenge. Are these tools really needed or would other methods work? Is that special tool steel?

The bike I bought has now been thru 2 tubes....didn't know that trials bikes are supposed to come with a tubeless rear, derp. (the PO(or one of the 3 before me) sold me the bike with a tube installed....how should I know? I am just a 32 yo kid The valve is being pulled off the tube(if you didn't already know what this thread was about) So, I want to go back to a tubeless setup. I know that I will need: a tubeless tire an air valve for tubeless tire Tire irons tubeless beader.... Do I need a new "flap"/rim strip? does the rim strip actually help hold air? (in a tube setup, rimstrip is there strictly to protect tube from spoke "nipples" AFAIK) In ot…

Hi Very new to this game and I'd be very grateful for any help! I've a 2010 beta evo 250 2T and haven't ridden it much this year. I now find that it starts and runs perfectly but when I engage gear - weh hey I'm doing a wheelie as the clutch doesn't seem to be effective. Little bit scary! Sticking it up on a stand the rear wheel is being driven in all gears even if the clutch is pulled in. When I do pull the clutch in there's a clicking noise from the engine which increases in frequency with revs applied. I ran it for a bit but nothing changed. Any clever diagnosticians out there that could point me in the right direction.........? Thanks in anticipation! All the be…

Evening all, Just purchased a 2017 Factory 300 and coming from a Gas\Gas noticed first gear too short for almost all sections. Seen john lampkin's ssdt preparation guide, where he recommends changing the primary sprocket from a ten to twelve (42/12) which makes bottom usable. Phoned Beta today and was advised most riders in the ssdt this year opted for 42/11. Is the 11 tooth front enough to make bottom effective or should I go for the twelve?
