hi and hello to everyone. i'm new to all of this and have just acquired the above bike. it needs a bit of tidying. i have a couple of questions about the carb. 1/ where does the small plastic pipe that is on the opposite side of the inlet manifold to the hot start knob go, mine is just hanging with an open end ? 2/ there is a right angle metal pipe facing upwards with an open end (about 12mm diameter) to the right of the black cap on the top of the carb. is this supposed to be open or blanked off ? many thanks for your help

Has anybody heard any details about the 2008 mass producton of the rev-4? I'm champing at the bit to get one here in the USA. There's very little info out there on how things have been going now that the 250 has been out for some time. Not very many videos or updates since the two mile thread that went on a few months ago when the first one became available. How are you guy's diggin' your 250's? How has the reliability been? Does anybody have any more videos of the bike in action other than the ones Steve Saunders has up on his page? I'm sure I'm not the only one who is eager to hear more info on the status of the italian 4 banger!

I put a Keihin on a 2008 200 Rev 3 and have just bought the idle mixture screw with flex attachment on the end from Splat Shop. Does something locate the knob that you turn with your fingers? It seems like there should be some kind of bracket.

Currently got my 2008 Rev3 engine stripped down to replace the main bearings and after a couple of bits of advice please I have managed to separate the cases but can't seem to get the crank out of the left hand case, are there any tricks? I have tried warming everything in an oven for 15 mins and then hitting the crank with a rubber mallet with no luck. Secondly, I used to trailer the bike in winter and I suspect road salt has found it's way under whatever the finish is on the crankcases. Has anyone successfully repainted the cases? Researching on here I've read that the cases might be magnesium and therefore difficult to paint..... Any advice very welcome …

  7. Hi, I rode my mates 08 rev 3 125 in a trial on sat night. it ran fine for two laps then died. There were two small stream crossings but it ran fine after that and performed well all night then Would not start again. I then washed the bike sunday morning, started fine with choke. Since then when my friend has stripped the carb, new dry filter in, dried out the airbox then gone to start it, it has run but with hanging revs. Tonight it was screaming full revs and then would not shut off, kill switch and plug cap off, still going balls out. Any ideas?? They have dried stator out behind ignition cover, checked airbox boot for splits, taken reedblock out ad…

Hi all been reading about the changes done to the 07 08 rev 3 , and I was wondering if the weight that was added to the primary fly wheel could be removed for a snappy throttle response as I had a 05 rev 3 250 and liked how it was on dilivery and when I fitted the weight to that I did not like how it changed the engine character so I'm wondering if the same will be with the 08 . Thanks

Hi there, Just torn my REV 3 270 motor down for new bearings and seals and am going through other items whilst I wait for parts. I've never used the bike as it had a few issues when I bought it. I have a few questions please - some may be dumb but its been 10 yrs since I had a 2 stroke apart and a few brain cells have said rendex vous, if anyone can help: 1) Rings - My bike has a Vertex piston (I'm not sure whether this is the original make of piston) looks in good condition. When I push the rings into the barrel the 2 ring gaps measure up at 0.5 and 0.7. I've read in the evo manual that the gaps limit is 0.6mm. Do I leave or replace? And if I use as is should I…

My new 250 came with a 100 link 520 chain fitted, and the tyre was only millimetres from the swinging arm. On compresssion and within minutes, the tyre had rubbed a hole through the rubber flap which keeps the monoshock clean. I am fitting a 102 link chain to allow the wheel to move back a tad and then fit a new rubber guard. Be aware if your's is on order.

My 2008 Rev 3 overheated at the weekend and the fan wasn't working. After testing it by looping a wire through the connector blocks, the fan does work but it is sticking. It turns, then sticks. What I want to know is if it can be fixed/cleaned or whatever, to make it work? Or, do I need to buy a new fan? This is what I was hoping to avoid at £123!! Thanks

Hi all, After 30 years of riding bikes i have had a first today!! I crashed quite heavly and the bike revved hard until it was switched off with the kill button. The bike wouldnt start so we bumped it,it did start, ran fine and sounded sweet until i let the clutch out and it now goes backwards!! I haven't looked yet but it seems like the general guess is that the woodruff key has been nudged a touch throwing the timing out. Is this normal, is it uncomman, am i looking at the right thing, could it be the cdi sending the wrong signal?? Any help or advice would be appreciaited. Cheers
