How many clutch plates are there meant to be in a 125 . I have five plates looks to be enough space for another plate ?

Well I found out why my clutch wouldn't free off ! Anybody think this could be welded without throwing the clutch completely out of balance ? (Anybody got one for sale ? swm tl320 1980 280cc)

I am going to look at a swm trials next week, the owner thinks it's a 1981 240, supposed to be all there except the seat, rear shocks, and kick lever, and in decent condition otherwise, what should I be looking for? are these good bikes? I have never rode a swm, I remember when Bernie and Martin were riding them in the 80's, I will probably buy it if the price isn't too high, how is parts availability for them? is there a model identification guide available?

Right folks I have been considering a twin shock for some time and I'm thinking of getting one for the summer months to see if I enjoy it more than the Gas Gas I currently have. A combination of getting Bernies book off santa many years ago and SWMs being in short supply when my dad was a dealer for them meant that although I always wanted one I never actually owned an SWM. So if I go the twinshock route the SWM seems a likely candidate I have been offered a frame yokes and a seat /tank unit from a 280 but whats the chances of locating a motor ? will early air cooled aprillia rotax motor fit or the armstrong rotax ? I assume the Gori one will ??

Can anyone help with a replacement front brake arm (Marzocchi front end) as mine has 'rounded off' the square edges and now has so much slack I can't operate the front brake without resulting to a 'workaround''? I may try and weld up and refinnish the arm but a replacement would be a quicker and more elegant solution. I wonder if Fantic arms fit, those fitted with Grimeca hubs? many thanks

Jon Bliss has just built this SWM for me with a 140cc Pit Bike Engine, pictured in tatty first build, I know its looks wrong, but you want to ride it ?? Weighs in the same as a 2014 Sherco 125. I will post more pics over the next few weeks of the final build. Pete.

Hi, has anybody out there had problems with Venhill cables ? I ordered clutch, throttle and frontbrake cables for my 81 125 and 320 and have had the following problems. The brake cables were too short and could not be fitted to the bikes any way even though the cables listed were for Marzocchi forks. The throttle cables fit as long as you only connect one end. The inner is too short or the outer too long on both, whichever way you look at it. The brake cable issue has been solved. Venhill changed them, no problem but now I'm trying to get the throttle cable problem solved. The picture shows the throttle end with the carb end in place. Even when all of the…

Hi all, just a bit more info that might help you all out with dragging clutches. As you are aware if you read my other posts, I fitted an Aprilia TX311 clutch hub to my 83 TL320. That along with the 12mm ball bearing conversion did make a huge difference. However, I recently came across a new steel internal clutch arm (the one with the kit is cast aluminium and difficult to extend) which I extended by 10mm, this again made the clutch pull a tad lighter. when riding the bike in practice or events I noticed the clutch developed a bit of drag, not enough to stall the bike but enough to make finding neutral a pain while waiting in turn at a section. Ok this was present before my stripdown but it seems aliens have abducted it and are most likely probing it as I write....really frustrating oodles of bits in oodles of bags, all labeled up and you know tbe rest! It's the bearing which the brake pedal sits on and acts as the securing nut too having an internal thread. Martin doesn't have one so at the moment and this is a job stopper...if anyone can help both my SWM and myself will thank you.

Hi guys, Picked this up at weekend as a winter project, runs ok but rough. ( sorry can't load the photo of the bike ) The question is, I went to check the points and the flywheel nut was hand tight. Took it off with the flywheel and it was really wet and oily at the rear of the flywheel. Began to delve in as you do ( only use to Bultacos ) and I was stopped by the large disc that is retained by three large screws. I can get it to rotate but not release, it seems to house a bearing on the crank, how do I get it off guys. And yes for you eagled eyed chaps, the woodruff key is mangled, I've no idea how it ran, it fired up first time. Many thanks.
