Was at a trial yesterday and a very kind person gave me a tip. He said that if I turned the front brake arm so that it was pointing forwards that it would work better. He then tried to explain that if the top shoe grips before the bottom shoe the brake works better. All I want to know is he talking p***

over the last couple of months I've been getting through condensers rather too quickly, initially on my 320TL and now on the Jumbo. So done some investigative work and written it on my (mainly SWM) blogging website. SWM electrics I've basically not found the problem, but tried to eliminate the likely suspects, we shall see....

Does anyone know how to wire a cut out button on the TL 125? The wires to the coil end in a multipin connector with no obvious way of introducing a wire. Any advice appreciated as, apart from the stuck throttle scenario, I'm getting fed up stalling it every time I want to walk a section.

I am after bit of advice connecting the ignition breather behind the gearbox filler on a Jumbo, there is just a rubber grommet with a hole in, i can thread an 8mm pipe ( i think it is 8mm od ) for a short length but does not seem to go in very far, does it need securing with silicone or can it be blocked up? i am running an electronic ignition.( Rexspeed) Or do you have to remove the flywheel to feed it in from inside the casing? Many Thanks Geoff

I have had a little extra time lately and been finishing up some projects. I’ve had a 1980 SWM TL320 basket case for a few years now. The engine is done with all new bearings, seals and a lot of other new parts. I’m in the process of putting the engine back in and I’m having trouble getting the swingarm to fit. I did install new swingarm bushings. Any tricks or advice on getting it to fit? I didn’t work on it for too long today and I have to go into work tomorrow but should be back on it Thursday. I also have a new seat cover to install and could use some advice putting that on. What glue do you use and and tricks stretching on the seat base? Thanks

Hi, has anybody gone to the trouble of replacing the silent bloc swingarm bushes on an 81 TLNW320 with needle rollers or some other alternative ? I'm building a 'Bitsa' using a TL frame and swinger and just wondered if anybody might have done such and would be willing to share their experiences ? Thanks up front, Phil

Hi All, As above, would like a pic or two if possible on how this plate should look with regard to things like size of the digits and is Engine 348.5cc or 348.5 cm\3, also is weight 89kg or 89KG,just stuff like that. Reason I ask is that my Jumbo that I bought a few years ago is missing the plate on the headstock and I have recently purchased a blank plate from Martin in the UK, just want to populate this plate as accurately as possible when I eventually blast and repaint the frame (Suburu WRX Blue from years ago is close I believe). If you can help with a pic just tape over your frame/engine numbers if you don't want to divulge. Thanks. Pic of my headstock…

I have found this to fit perfectly once the locating tabs around the carb mating face are gently ground away with a dremel or similar, my pic shows after grinding/shaving. It suits a 40 mm spigot diameter which is what one wants for the 28mm Dellorto fitted to the Jumbo which has the factory fitted machined sleeve to take it from 36mm to 40mm OD, the distance from barrel to carb is spot on and 75mm between fixings. https://www.jetsrus.com/individual_parts/002_052_su.html

I got into vintage trials a few years ago, I always wanted a SWM! When I was a kid SWM trials where the bike to have! I didn't have one then but almost 40 years later I finally bought one! I really like them! They handle great and the brakes even work! I enjoy them as much as the modern trials bikes I had! I actually ended up with four over the summer, (sold the 240 to a friend of mine). I have a 1980 TL320 that's my main bike, I bought from the top rider from our club, he also won the AMA National twin shock series in 2013 on the same bike! I also have a 1982 TL 320 practice bike that runs good but needs work and a 1980/81 TL 320 that needs rebuilding. I'm wonderi…

Hello people, can anyone help me locate a kick start lever to suit the knuckle that uses a circlip, it's for a Jumbo but I think any kick start lever for a TL trials bike will fit. Cheers. PS: I've attempted to ask in "classifieds" but I don't get any options to let me write a wanted post, in fact I get no options at all. Any clues as to what is happening there ?

Hi, afer I rebuilt my TL320s motor, gearchanging was a dream. It stated getting problematic going down the box especially from 2nd to 1st. Now it is also a pain going up the box from 1st to 2nd. The clutch isn't dragging so something with the pawl setup seems to have changed. Any ideas ? Phil

After moving the pegs down and back, the next hurdle was the brake pedal. It was quite a mind boggle to fabricate a lever that could be covered whilst still being planted on the footpeg. What made ir even more of a challange was the lack of space available due to having a swingarm from a TX 300 Aprilia fitted. Anyway, after a few tries and mods it now works 'Like' the original and I'm happy.
