Where can I get exploded view for 320 engine? Thanks advance

Hi all, I´m thinking of moving the condensor up under the petrol tank so that it can easily be changed. Anyone done this ? I suppose you can just join the three wires where the condensor normaly is and then fit the condensor in the blue wire to the HT coil (or not) ?

It has been sitting for some time, and I've begun the process of bringing it back to life. Since people always like photos, here it is: Last night I drained the oil from the transmission, and removed the clutch cover while I was at it, to get a sense how dirty things might be inside. I found oil that clearly had a great deal of water mixed in. Since the bike was running, and I had ridden it a bit in the course of the purchase, the oil and water were mixed into a thick goo that resembled a chocolate milkshake. Good to see that gone! I have been wanting a SWM trials bikes since I was in high school in the early 80s. I got to ride a 81 TL 320 for a day and really liked it. It handles as good as some of the modern trials bikes I have had! Has awesome power and torque! I felt very confident on the bike. It took me a long time but last year I finally found a 80 SWM TL320. It's in rough shape needs a complete rebuild, I probably paid way too much and it's still not finished. When it's finished it will be my main trials bike for vintage trials. I would like to find another TL for back up also an Enduro GS SWM for vintage cross country. Where do you find these bikes? I look on Craigslist, eBay all the…

hello I have a swm tl 320 1981 . The flywheel puller is is M35 X 1.5mm?

Now that my SWM is running reasonably well (still needs cosmetics) I have noticed, or imagined, that it does not pick up a quickly as my Aprilia did, is this entirely down to flywheel weight ? I suppose the sensible thing would be to take them off and weight them, but if some one knows ? Were there any other differences between the two Rotax engines, apart from clutch covers on the later Aprilia's ? Thanks Ross

To lower and move back the footpegs on a TL 320 seems to be the most done mod. What I've not seen is what mods have been done to the rear brake lever to be able to cover it while riding and standing on the pegs. Any pics of the mods made would be appreciated. I am going to try and get a lever made that will still use the original cable. I have a template made but need to get it fabricated if it is at all possible. It is a really wierd looking thing to say the least.

I would like to upgrade my footpegs on my 1980 320. Yes I could buy a weld on set, but the frame is all nicely painted and if I could just fiddle the pegs, and not the bike frame I would be happy. None of my vintage Ossas or my old Husky help . My KDX 220 is not much help either. My 02 Beta is close but the peg ears are just a mm to wide to fit between the peg ears on the SWM frame and the pin hole is quite a bit further out. Interestingly the pegs on my DR 650 are very close. Fit nicely between the ears on the SWM frame and would just need a bit of grinding to sit in close to the frame and have the pin holes welded up or perhaps just a sleve welded in to sleve them down …

I have got SWM 280TL which runs OK for about an hour then fouls or buns out the plug. If I change the plug it then runs OK again. I am using a BP5ES plug. Any advice or possible cure would be great. JGM

Anyone know if there are any difference to the steering angles between a Black 1981 SWM frame, (with full mudguard loop) and a 1983 Blue frame without rear frame loop ?

Well just when you think you have done everything correctly during a strip down to help with the rebuild fate throws a spanner in the works.....like knocking over my temporary storage bench whilst parts are drying AND deleting strip down photos...doh! I now have all the front and rear axle assembly parts all mixed up, I can seperate most of the parts (most!) and but their 'as built' order is also hopelessly lost. Would anyone have a drawing/ photo of front and rear axle assemblies? Many thanks

Was at a trial yesterday and a very kind person gave me a tip. He said that if I turned the front brake arm so that it was pointing forwards that it would work better. He then tried to explain that if the top shoe grips before the bottom shoe the brake works better. All I want to know is he talking p***

Would some kind soul like to measure the distance between centres on the 320TL front brake stay (Marzocchi forks) for me please? I've now sourced the proper forks and wheel but need the brake stay yet and thought I would manufacture one myself out of aluminium rather than try to source one.

Any ideas on how to break my SWM 240s countershaft sprocket nut. Penetrating oil is doing nothing. I stuffed a block of wood between the rear wheel and swingarm, sat on the rear tire, applied heat with mapping gas to the nut, and had a breaker bar with a long pipe on top of it and the nut won't move. The chain is still attatched and another block of wood is behind the rear tire and it just spins the rear wheel. I can't see the nut being reverse threaded. I haven't heated the nut cherry red. I think it will hurt the countershaft itself. My impact gun isn't doing half of what the breaker bar is doing. Any ideas?

Has anybody found a suitable replacement for a SWM steel tanked Fuel cap/Petrol Cap? Any help gratefully received. P.S. I've asked Martin already.

Hi all , Am going to ride the TL 320 this weekend as was wondering which fuel oil mix to use, as i haven't riiden a twinshock for about 15 years. I will also be running the engine in for the first couple of hours of riding. I was going to use fully synthetic at 50:1 with super unleaded , i have been told to use semi synthetic at 40:1 also with superunleaded as its an older air cooled machine. I am not interested in the different oil brand debate , i just want to know what mix is best. What do you think?

whilst competing sunday, on 2 separate occasions i had a nasty sounding noise from the gearbox.i sounds like a gear is trying to mesh with the one that is already in use. gear selection is fine. chain and sprockets are fine,ie not loose. was not kickstart being held back onto ratchet. obviously got to be opened up, am just after any clues once inside. thanks.
