I just switched from a 290 to a 200 and like it everywhere except for big steps. I suspect that the technique is different but could use some input. The obstacles are about 4' tall granite with a little bit of slope. They are either tall enough or maybe the slope is enough that you do not have to worry about hitting the bash plate. On the 290, I could approach at a walking speed, hit the step part way up with the front wheel, use a fair amount of throttle until the back wheel hit, chop the throttle and let the flywheel pull me up. The 200 has less initial punch when the front wheel hits the step and lacks the flywheel to just pull the bike up. Staying on the throttl…

Any advice on controlling bike down steepish narrow slopes and banks? I seem to flap abit when atemping these and usually make a complete clown of myself and slide off, which brake to use and body position would be a help to start I guess, also bar and lever position( beta rev 3)would help too. When watching people who can get over rocks, double blipping they make it look so slow and their body doing the work and not so much the power of the bike.also how theres a split second they leave the front wheel on the rock it looks like it aids them to keep the front wheel up when ontop of the rock. For me it all happens so fast but Ive been practicing today and the way im doing it i blip once to get front wheel on rock then touch back break to slow the bike after you raised the wheel then go again with another blip and push up with my body. I feel more controlled and it doesnt seem everything is happening to fast. Is this the correct way using a slight bit of rear brak…

Want to learn hopping the front wheel. Have watched the vids and get how you compress the front suspension and work with it on the way back up. . . but whenever i try to stop and balance and try I always loose balance I can balance on the bike in the shed with engine off with the front wheel turned about 45degrees but cant when its straight. . . Any tips on how to learn hopping or should I go back to trying to balance with front wheel straight? I was told that hopping helps balancing and vice versa so they compliment each other was thinking about getting someone to hold the bike steady while I try hopping. . .

Help with obstacle Ive been trying to climb over a large concrete sewage pipe (3-4ft) I did manage it once in about twenty tries (think it was a fluke)! The problem is I can get both wheels on but end up going backwards / jumping off bike! Ive tried it in first and second gear, but I think I may be approaching it to slowly?

Does anyone know any decent trials school around? I have done a Steve Saunders training day, Dougie Lampking training day and was also very lucky to get out with Steve Colley in the Isle Of Man The Steve Saunders was a reasonable day out, however I found the Dougie Lampking training day not as good (as this is probably the fact that you have spent a day out riding with Dougie Lampkin, his Dad and James Dabill) Cheers

Hi all I attended a Graham Jarvis training day on sat at Tong Yorkshire. Both the venue and the training were Great. Graham is real nice guy, very good at giving good clear instruction to both begineers like me and the more experianced riders. I would highly recommend to all. I asked if he would run a day at whitworth, Back cowm Quarry. He agreed in principle as long as the demand was there. I need 10 people to attend @

The highly mentioned Ryan Young trials training DVD's are readily available, if out of stock in the UK. Both Basic and Advanced versions. Two methods, Direct at www.RYPUSA.com, via online/phone orders and charge cards $49.95 or about 31 quid. Post to UK is package rate at $14.95 or about 10 quid. 41 total. No Paypal. Indirect, costs the same at what equated today at 31 quid things, but I can get a bit better rate on the post and package at 3 quid, and I will accept the Paypal on it if needed, yet may take a bit longer at 34 quid. I am not available to run to the postal office on demand, so adjust. Normal post times are 6-10 days. I make squat on naut, so pick your pr…

I have been trying to find Ryan Youngs DVD but there seems to be no stock in the UK or on ebay. Anyone have an idea where I can get one from?? I have come across Dan Thorpe Basic Trial Techniques DVD but is it any good? Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks

Hey Guys I am after a bit of advice on how to stop soft dabs. Recently I have been ruining good results due to silly dabs that even C riders would never do. When it comes to hard sections with big steps or really nasty rock section I can clean it confidently but then the next section I will drop a silly couple of dabs in a easy section. I never seem to drop them because I am struggling it seems more of an safety dab that in reality I should not need. Can anyone give me some advice or ideas how I can get over this. Thanks

Just fitted 35mm bar risers to the Beta. Wow what a transformation, the riding position is great for an old codger like me with short arms. feel alot more confident with most of my weight on the pegs and less on the bars. Far less tiring, can recommend this mod to anyone with a back twinge. tom,
